Unobstructed lake view from the front porch of cabin #7. I'd say Cabin #6 would have a comparable view.

We just finished a long weekend at this property and we loved it! The staff are very friendly and the cabins are cute and nice with close proximity to the lake. The beds are very comfortable and the cabins come equipped with some amenities, plenty of towels and blankets and very high quality linens which is unexpected in a cozy cabin. Each cabin has a theme, we were in the Bear Cabin which is cabin 19, and our friends were in the Eagle cabin. All the cabins have lovely lake views and front porches - perfect for watching the time pass while enjoying the incredible view. Ours is not right on the lake but up the hill so you can still see the view from your windows and front porch. Very quiet, serene and peaceful. There is a general store and restaurant on-sight - making it a very convenient place to stay in a pretty quiet area. We ate at the restaurant and thought it was quite good (wrote a separate review of that).I am only giving the property four stars because there were a couple areas that I think could be improved but it was nothing we felt we had to tell the staff. Again, we were very happy with the place. Overall, the cleanliness of the cabin could be improved. Seems like the porch hadn't been hosed down in ages and was full of dust and cobwebs. The floor also didn't seem like it had been cleaned very well. I'll give some leeway here as the area was quite dusty after a dry summer. There was a giant cobweb insight the bathroom window which was a little unsettling. Also to note, the beach area closest to the resort seems to be very popular for locals on Saturdays so it got crowded. Obviously they can't control that, but wanted to mention here for your plans if you stay. You will need to get space early. Overall, would recommend this cute resort with very cozy cabins for a mountain getaway. We didn't get a chance to explore the area - it was very hot so we spent our time at the lake. We'd like to come back in the fall and do more exploring.

Very poor management with no empathy towards life's circumstances! My parents recently booked a stay here and we're unable to make the trip due to unforeseen medical conditions. My Mom canceled within the 5 days and rescheduled since that was the only option to a later date. Unfortunately, my Dads medical conditions took a turn for the worse and are now terminal and my parents will no longer be able to make the trip at all. My mom explained the situation to the manager and unfortunately all they're willing to do is leave her credit on the books. I've called and tried to speak on her behalf and let her know that my mom will not be able to make the trip at all and would definitely be able to use the $500 elsewhere given my dad's conditions. All the manager, Sally said is my policies are my policies that's the best she can do. I can't make any exceptions. I understand there are rules and regulations and they can't make exceptions for everyone, but this is a pretty straightforward exception and I would hope that someone would have enough compassion for someone's situation and do the right thing! I am very dissatisfied in the way this business handled my Moms unfortunate circumstances. I as well as other business owners know that they very much can make exceptions when they want to and especially when it comes down to doing the right thing. I'm sure it's not every day people need to cancel due to their spouse being terminally ill and it's unfortunate that Sally can't make an exception in this situation. I hope she is satisfied with her ability to hold right to the policies and procedures!

This cottage met our needs and helped us out when we desperately needed accommodations. Me and my mom were traveling from Sacramento and we had an Air BnB lined up in Auberry but we showed up and they had no idea we were coming and the room wouldn't be ready for hours. We told them to forget it and looked up places closer to where we wanted to be in Shaver Lake. I ended up calling the cottages at 5 o'clock at night trying to get a place to stay and the lady on the phone was more than happy to help. She said she had one cabin left, cabin 15, and she had everything prepped for us under the mat when we arrived an hour later and we were able to pay over the phone. She was a real life saver for helping us get this cabin. As for the cabin we did have a gap around the front door so you could hear everything and there was a draft. The microwave, coffee, and fridge situation were perfect. The bathroom was very nice as well but the closet was teeny tiney, would have liked a coat rack instead? The heat was good but it took a while to heat up. The driveway was also a little sketchy and we had to park in the dirt and rocks with two FWD vehicles in the rain and snow. Wish there was at least gravel there not just dirt but at least we got out ok in the morning. The view from the cabin was gorgeous right on the lake, beautiful to wake up to. Overall would give this place 8/10 for the great customer service.

Just got back from a 4 night stay here. So much good, but 1st the bad.1. I was very confused where to check in, turns out, there's an office in the store... So we had to call to figure that out.2. The shower (in cabin 16) has some grime/rust. But c'mon it's a cabin/cottage. I didn't expect it to be perfect, but thought I'd give a thorough review.3. & my number 1 reason for giving it 4 stars, not 5. Cabin 16 was advertised as follows, "the view of Shaver Lake is absolutely stunning, and all of your lake day activities are just steps away from your front door." And I'm including their advertised picture vs the actual view from the front door. The way the advertised photo looked and their description, I thought we were maybe 50 feet from the Lake. I also thought we'd be able to sit outside between the cabin and the lake on our camping chairs and just lounge around with our own private area of the lake. This was not the case. There are other cabins very close around, a road between the cabin and the lake and the area where this is is VERY populated by weekend travelers. These are not horrible things, just not what I expected!4. The store isn't open for very long each day, or at least the couple of times I attempted to go. But I will say that we walked down to the store/office once to ask for some more coffee supplies. On the door was listed an after hours phone number to call. I called and they brought me new supplies within 30 minutes. :)Now the good - so much good!1. The bed. They had 2 different types of pillows (4 total), which is amazing because at home I sleep with 2 soft and 1 firm pillow and my husband only uses 1 firm. The mattress itself was really good for us! And we are super picky. I don't think I've stayed at a hotel recently with a mattress as good as this one.2. Clean - Besides the shower rust, the cottage was very nice and clean3. Porch - I love that the porch has a gas fire pit. We sat out there a few times and loved it. (sidenote: I do wish the porch was covered. Thankfully it wasn't very hot while we were there, so we didn't mind the sun much)4. The town restaurants. We tried a few places to eat and found our favorites. Check out the Blue Sky Cafe for great breakfast and coffee! I had 3 different kinds of coffee while there and all were amazing. Shaver Lake Pizza is really good. Order ahead... We had to wait almost an hour.Shaver Lake Pub N Grub is so good. We had it twice for dinner and ordered different things each time and everything was super delicious (Burger, fish & Chips, onion rings, a chicken sandwhich, a hot pastrami sandwhich and a watermelon mule).5. Shaver Lake itself. We drove around to several sections of the lake. It's quite beautiful. We spent hours just lounging and reading on the shore.6. The Area. We drove the back way to Huntington Lake (Not for the faint of heart but beautiful)We drove up the Kaiser Pass to Mono Hot Springs (also scary at times, but would definitely recommend it)We drove to Dinkey Creek, McKinley Grove (giant sequoia grove that I had no clue was there) and to Courtright Reservoir. The drive from Shaver Lake to Courtright Reservoir is now my FAVORITE drive in California (so far - and I've been lots of places in CA). I love the different areas. There are so many trees (and several different kinds of trees), mountain views, valley views, water (lakes, streams, waterfalls), meadows... Just absolutely stunningBottom line, these cottages were great and in an awesome centralized location for scouting the area. If they would have been what I thought (right on the lake, not in a populated area), we probably wouldn't have explored all the areas we did.

These little cabins are nice. The outside is a bit outdated. It served is purpose. A little pricey for the stay. We stayed Monday and left Tuesday. The restaurant on site is only open Thursday-Sunday so we didn't get to try it out. The lake is about a minute or two walking distance, so that was nice. You do check in at the store out front. The cabin itself had a pull out couch, but you are warned that it's only to sleep in when it's pulled out, otherwise it will mess up the frame. We didn't pull it out. My 7yr old was fine just sleeping on the couch. The bedroom with the queen bed was alright, not the most comfortable bed, but again, it served its purpose. The kitchen area was nice, it had a mini fridge, a microwave, and a coffee maker. The bathroom was alright, the shower head was a bit outdated and might need to be replaced. We didn't have toilet paper in the room but luckily we packed some, for such occasion. The a/c didn't work, we didn't notice it until bedtime. It's not a big deal during spring and winter. Warm summer days might be an issue. It was 80 degrees at the highest but we popped open the window and it was fresh. There is no cable, but the smart TV is connected to the wifi, so you can watch Netflix. All in all, it was alright. Not sure if I'd stay again. Shaver Lake is always nice though.

Customer service started out great but quickly took a dive when we complained about an issue. Upon checking in we were pleased that the onsite staff was able to meet us after hours (around 530pm) to give us the key to our cabin. While checking us in she made a point that there had veen some tree workers who had stayed in the cabin righy brfore us and that they had had some issues with them smoking so if we saw any cigarette butts it was because she didn't have time to pick them all up. She also let us know that there was a fire pit on the porch and that we should call her at the after hrs # if the pit was out of gas or if we needed anything from the store. We got all settled in and noticed that there were very specific signs posted in the living room regarding the sofa bed (our cabin had 1 queen and 1 sofa bed). The sign read that the sofa bed was to be laid on ONLY when pulled out as a bed. And that very specifically stated that it should not be sat on when pulled on. It said the sofa bed is for "laying on ONLY". So we decided to leave it as a couch until we were all ready to go to sleep. Around 230am we decided to go to bed and pulled out the sofa bed to discover the mattress cover was littered with what initially looked like either dirt/mud or possible feces. It looked like what is trackedin on the deep soles of boots. No one wanted to touch it to try to discover what it was so we folded the bed back up and someone slept on top of the sofa and someone ended up having to sleep on the floor. A few hours later (around 9am) I called to let them know about the sofa bed. The staff memeber was initially mortified and said it was most likely to have been from the tree workers who were in there before us and that the other girl who works there was supposed to have cleaned the cabin. She said she'd call her boss and see about getting a refund because that was not okay. At checkout (11am she said her boss/the owners were on a flight and unreachable but that she'd let them know what happened and get back to me at the end of the day or the next day. The next day I had still not heard back so I called to discover that the owners were on vacation and that they were still waiting for the refund authorization. Fast forward to Friday (almost an entire week from checking in) I called back to see if they had heard from the owners. It was at this time that the same girl whi had been so sorry before and said we would get a refund said that they pulled the sofa bed out and that it was not dirty "it was just tree bark." I was like oh yeah, you said there were tree workers that stayed there brfore us. She goes well it could have come from anyone. I was shicked. I then said well it was there when we pulled it out and so we didn't sleep on it because it was dirty. She again said it wasn't dirty only tree bark and that "this IS the mountains" as if that's a valid excuse for unclean sleeping accommodations. As if tracked dirt on a floor is the same as dirty linens/mattress. She then said they were unable to pricess a partial or full refund (as she had initially ensured she would). Completely unsatisfied and unhappy with how this situation was handled. Will definitely NOT be returning.

We enjoyed our stay in cabin #7. I'd describe the cabin, as cozy. Exactly what their website pictures looked like. We loved the awesome view of the lake, and the patio is a perfect place to sit and relax with 2 chairs & a firepit. We were a late check-in and someone called us before we arrived, to give us information on getting into the cabin, parking and general instructions. Friday night was pretty quiet. Saturday night we could hear some good music playing from the restaurant patio. It was loud enough to hear from inside our room, but by no means bothersome. We enjoyed the vibe. By about 9:30ish, we noticed the music had stopped and it was back to silence. Our trip was cut short for personal reasons, but we'll definitely stay here any chance we get.

Let me start by saying I have never written a bad review for any business. The customer service to resolve a very straight forward issue was HORRIBLE. Not one ounce of self accountability or remorse from the owner, truly unbelievable. The conversation went from "we have been trying to fix that for a while," to "we didn't do anything wrong." If you don't have anything go wrong during your stay, it's probably fine but I wouldn't trust these people for anything. Aside from that: Decent cabins- ours had a lot of things falling apart but still cute. The patio wooden slats felt like we were going to fall through. No cable and no warning or communication about the cable being out until I inquired the next day. The towel rack was literally hanging off the wall. It wouldn't take hardly any effort at all to fix the maintenance issues but clearly they don't care. There are so many cute rustic cabin experiences around Shaver Lake- go spend your money at one of those businesses.

We're always looking for a place for lunch in the area. Decided to try the newest offering at the Point. 559 Beer in Old Town Clovis has opened the restaurant and bar at the Point. We had the sample platter and the Belair Ale and loved it all. It's so great to have this wonderful location up and running again.
