Dawn! Showing us the blueberry fields
They pick by hand but also with this blueberry picker! Really interesting how it works.

I can honestly only give a 3 star rating, but that is because we missed berry season by just a few weeks, closed by mid July. We drove up in August. Sad.But it was not a complete loss. We did get to meet the friendly, hard working owner, James, who came out of his garage to chat with us. They have quite a big operation that, during the picking season, has much to offer. I shall gladly look them up again, in season this time, after having a very pleasant and informative chat with him. He has dreams of a future expansion into fruit wines. I say yes!Regardless, I say "yum" to blackberries and blueberries fresh out of the field!

My brother was visiting from Idaho and we wanted to take him somewhere other than the coast or the mountains, which we figured would be crowded as it was Father's Day weekend. We found Royal Dawn berries listed on the Fresno County Fruit Trail website and went to check it out. We were welcomed by Dawn who walked us through their awesome flower garden, telling us about the different varieties, and even offering to let us cut some to take home. The bees were enjoying them all so much we couldn't bring ourselves to gather any! My daughter and I returned there today for a jar of blueberry jam and it is delicious! We will definitely go back for more before the season ends.

I have been buying berries here for the last five years and I highly recommend them. The berries are so fresh and taste so much better than buying from the store (mostly because they are already older in the store). It seems like a family operation and they have always been very friendly and helpful to us. I can't wait until they open this year! I have been checking their website every two or three days.

Not very friendly. This is not a u-pick farm and she made it very clear. Matter of fact, was rude about it. When asked for a u-pick recommendation, she said the closest place was Watsonville. Luckily we found Berry Lady Farms who were welcoming, had delicious berries and most important were not afraid to recommend a u-pick farm. Ranch Notsogrande in Hanford are a U-Pick farm in Hanford (closer than Watsonville).

We found Royal Dawn Berries as part of the Fresno County Fruit Trail (www.gofruittrail.com). Dawn (the owner) was there and was delightful and so informative! We got to go into the field and taste different varieties of blueberries and pick a few of our own (this is not a pick your own fruit place - she was generously teaching us about blueberry/blackberry farming). We also learned both how they harvest by hand and by machine. The blueberries tasted great! We tasted (and bought) blackberry grilling sauce and homemade blueberry cake! It was so much fun! We stopped at other places on the Fruit Trail but this was our favorite! I included a few pictures
