Retro Lux Hair Salon & Lounge

I was able to make a last minute appointment through the appointment system late the night before on the website. Once I arrived Charla was very nice and welcoming, she gave her recommendations on my hair. I'm so glad I found this salon and lucky me the owner did my hair. I was also excited that they take 6AM appointments, I was able to book a styling appointment with Izak at 6AM for my event. Thank you Charla for the wonderful experience, 5 STARS, HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!

This is going to be a long post, so please bare with me. My hair dresser that I have had for almost 10 years recently moved. I had family pictures this Saturday and everyone from that salon was booked until after Easter. My friend had tried Jenna the week before and referred her to me so I contacted and booked.When I arrived I was nervous going to someone new but Jenna was waiting for me, on time and she was very welcoming. She asked a lot of questions got details for how I usually highlight my hair. I showed her pictures and she started foiling. I really like Jenna and thought she was very down to earth and I appreciated the attention she was giving to make sure I was happy with my hair.Then the hair happened. I had told her I wanted shoulder to right above shoulder length with long layers. I saw her cutting high and asked her immediately if my hair was going to sit at my chin. She assured me that she "Never over cuts and if anything undercuts at first and goes from there". I saw my hair and knew my hair had been chopped. I waited for her to blow dry to see what the damage was and it was heart breaking. I told her it looked like a "Karen cut" and agreed for her to curl it. Although the curls camouflaged some of the cut the only way to fix it is going to be to take my hair up to my chin or put in extensions. There is a triangle piece missing on the left side and my entire head is layered I'm choppy and blocks of layers. I am surprised she didn't acknowledge how bad it was and seemed surprised I had a "deer in head lights" look to me. As I was trying to process what just happened to my hair I quickly paid (with a damn tip by habit ) mumbled Happy Easter and left. This is going to be costly to fix and will tale over a year to grow out that section of my hair. I have added pictures. I am heart broken.

I absolutely can't say enough things about Jenna. My daughter has been dying to put pink in her hair and I've been itching for a change, and believe me when I say Jenna did amazing work. Aside from that she is super kind, and patient. I would highly recommend her to make your hair dreams come true.

Today was my second time getting my hair done at Retro Lux. The salon has a good a/c and clean. Charla does my hair. She is pleasant, attentive, efficient, and communicates well regarding schedules. My hair is naturally black. I wanted to have a lighter shade for summer. Charla did a great job by giving me the result that I wanted. She made my day.

I've been seeing Charla for about 10ish years now since I had a bad bleach/dye job from another stylist at a different salon, which she fixed beyond expectation. From color to color, style to style or just trim to trim, Charla does an outstanding job each time. Booking is easy and she is very communicative about any changes, and extremely fair prices. Very clean store, especially after new COVID protocol. If I ever moved out of town, I would come back to just to have her do my hair.

I couldn't do less than a one. Made an appointment and explained what I wanted was scheduled for 9am. I get there and she tells me that she is not comfortable with cutting my hair and I guess neither was the other employee one was unavailable till an hour after My Appointed time! Ugh nooo. Was it difficult or they really not want to bother simple fade and trim. Very disappointed.

Wow! I am so happy with my first experience at Retro Lux. Charla was amazing and took such food care of me. I felt so comfortable and relaxed the whole time, it really felt like I was being pampered. I came in for a simple cut to break the ice, but decided to get some color last minute and I am SOOO happy I did! Charla mixed in the perfect color, making my hair look healthy, vibrant, and most importantly, natural! For me it was equally about the way I look and feel. She hit the nail on the head! I will definitely make this my regular salon for the friendly atmosphere, talented staff, and tender loving care. See you next time! Great experience with Charla. I've never been to this salon before but saw an article in local newspaper about how they changed during pandemic shutdown. I felt clean and safe there after being scared to get a haircut and professional color for over three months.

Izak is amazing he had me an appointment right when I called at 9am. His quality of service is professional and welcoming!! I walked out with my hair amazing the best hairstylist in Merced by far!!! If you ever need a cut, hair color, blowout and etc. He is definitely the hairstylist to come to!!!
