So it's Mother's Day Sunday and plans fall through and you now need to find a place to have dinner. So naturally I open up Yelp and peruse a little. Although my family and I have lived in Los Banos for 2+ years we still have not tried every restaurant in town. So my only requirement for dinner was that it had to be a place we had never been. So as I am scrolling through Esperanza's pictures and reviews I just about had my heart set and then decided to take one last look just for sh!ts and giggles. Hence leads me to a little place called "La Pupusa Loca". First of all I didn't even know we had pupusa's in town. I thought I'd need to either make them myself or keep vigil on Facebook and the Los Banos pages wherein someone was making them to make some money over the weekend. So to find it...at a restaurant setting was GOLD! I'm looking at their menu...their prices and the pictures posted of past patrons and before you know it Esperanza who?...lol! I'll try Esperanza on another day, maybe sans the kids so my bill isn't so high. We get there about 7PM. It's in downtown. Parking was ample. We found a spot right in front. We walk in and are told to sit anywhere we want. About half the place was filled. We find a seat and are immediately greeted to take our drink order, handed menus and told the waitress would be right back with chips and salsa. We all decide on horchatas. So a round of horchatas por favor. The lady comes back with 4 large glasses of horchata, basket of chips and some salsa and refried beans both in their own individual small clay salsa bowls. Very aesthetically pleasing and just added to the ambiance of the place. Which was bright and lively and the walls were adorned with your typical mexican decor. As we sat and enjoyed our chips and salsa a little girl, maybe if I had to guess the age of 10 comes with an apron, pen and pad and proceeds to ask if she could take our order. My husband was just totally immediately awe struck a the idea that this little girl was so well spoken and well mannered and took our orders like a professional. My husband and I both ordered 1 chicharron pupusa and one bean and cheese. My eldest son ordered a chicken enchilada in green sauce dinner place which came with rice, beans and a salad. My youngest ordered chicken flautas which came 3 to a plate, topped with shredded lettuce, sliced avocado and cheese, with a side of rice, beans and salad. We all just about annihilated our plates. It was as if we were in the middle of conversation, we all kind of yawned and it was gone. Food was delicious. The pupusas were delicious and you could hear them in the kitchen slapping their hands together and you knew that meant they were back there making the pupusas fresh. The masa for the pupusa wasn't thick it was just right and the filling just complemented the masa without stealing the show. The flautas were crispy but not greasy. The enchiladas hit the spot and that verde sauce was a hit. This place has definitely made it to one of our go to restaurants especially now that we know we don't have to travel far to satisfy a pupusa craving!

I'm coming from San Jose to visit family. We stop by this place to get some Mexican food. Little hole in the wall is great. Keep in mind it's a small family own or small business so there's about one or two servers so be patient if it gets busy. The food is really great! I ordered chilaquiles, along with sopes an Pupusa's. Everything hit the spot!! The bean and cheese the pork runs n cheese. The chilaquiles were spicy!! I got me a mechilada to go along with it and everything was just great. Food had flavor and spices! If your craving some good old home made Mexican food, this is the spot right here. This place is BUSSIN

Randomly dropped by on our way back to Fresno when my dad started crying that he was hungry lol. We pulled over and I ordered some pupusas and he had some tacos. I was a little disappointed that I couldn't order a pupusa without cheese as they are pre-made but whatever. Anyways, I place my order and the lady was pretty quick about it and brought out some salsa and chips. Probably my favorite part of the meal. You can judge how good food will be by their chips and salsa and it was bomb. Solid pupusas, my dad loved his tacos, and even my little pup enjoyed her own taco. Oh and by the way tortillas are hechas a mano. Nice and thick!
