This place had been on my Yelp "to try" list for ages, so I was super stoked to finally be able to give them a try. Finding the taco stand was hard. I was expecting a taco truck in a casino parking lot, but this was more like a deluxe wooden shack on private property. Prior to this, I'd only had 'Indian tacos' once before, at a Native American cultural day at the Crocker Art Museum in Sacramento. That one time was pretty much enough to make me a fan for life. Frybread tacos are all about the frybread. Truth be told, the filings don't matter. (As I write this, I can imagine a future full of gourmet 'Indian' tacos on Instagram, but...)The tacos are filled with cheap, super basic ingredients like full fat ground beef, iceberg lettuce, beef tomatoes, and "Mexican cheese blend." It's basically "white people taco night" on frybread. To me, having grown up in extreme poverty, these tacos taste like surviving poverty. They taste like a kind of soul food that you can only understand if you've lived it. (So if I see any too-privileged people knocking stars off because these tacos are exactly what they're supposed to be, I'll be shook.)When I saw the menu, I couldn't believe how cheap it all was. I'm pretty sure they need to raise their prices. I ordered a taco and a burrito (and got completely stuffed) for less than ten bucks. The ladies who work here all seemed super sweet. It didn't take long to get my order, and, in case this isn't clear by now, it was so good. I loved it. I plan to come back with friends.

First, Yelp has it wrong on the map. It is a bit more west on Hwy 417 than Yelp says, on the left you'll see a sign for Indian Tacos anders turn left at it. You can also Google Coyote Tacos when you get close and it'll pull up on Google Maps. Next, they only have hamburger filling. Apparently, whoever wrote up their Yelp introduction did so about 10 years ago when the chef was actually cooking there and making fusion tacos, but now it's just hamburger. The chef left for the casino again and the ladies who are working the Taco Shack are super sweet and the fry bread is really REALLY good. I also enjoyed the salsa and wish that they had had some in jars but I think they were sold out. The middle size was five bucks and very filling, I could barely finish one. Definitely with the stop if you're on the area. Note: they do not have a bathroom.

Great Indian tacos Amazing price Last time I went they only take cash Their prices are extremely reasonable $ and it's a really good Indian taco Their only open I think 3 or 4 days a week and usually have a sign out on the road 417 It's right past the casino you turn left on a dirt road just before Indian lakes, and the tacos are made to order

Coyote Taco was recommended to us by a local in Coarsegold. We were staying nearby so my wife and I decided to check it out with another couple. My friend and I ordered large Indian tacos and our wives ordered smalls. They were delicious! The fry bread was some Jesus fry bread. (Right, Victor?) Everyone working there was super nice and friendly and they were super kind to our little pup, a Corgi, who sometimes is a little nutso. It's off the beaten path, but worth the trip. Highly recommended!

These Indian taco's (Chukchansi Indian) are best taco's in the mountains for sure. They also sell custom local jelly which can also be made custom. I go for the jalapeño jelly.

Very rustic setting but also very authentic. It was clear that the local tribe was running this food stand. Nice collection of homemade salsas and jellies for sale as well.Prices are very good and the preparation is to order.Overall everything we ordered was tasty and good portion sized. The only thing missing was some salt and a lot of salsa. With all the jarred salsas for sale at the stand, I would have thought that they'd have one or two open for customers to use on their food. It needed a good dose of "zing".

This is a hidden gem if you're around the area! I believe the name of the place is called "Coyote Taco" not the name listed on Yelp. It is a cute little wooden shack filled with friendly and welcoming staff. There is a very cozy and home-y vibe with a natury scenic ambience. The food was delicious! The dough of the tacos had a great crispy/chewy texture and the toppings provided a delicious filling. It is not spicy so maybe ask if they have any other options for sauces if that's what you prefer. The "small" was not much smaller than the large (which was about the size of a plate) so take that into consideration if you're not a big eater. The tostada has a nice and crispy base and had the same toppings as the tacos. For dessert, try their fry breads- the chocolate one taste kind of like a cake with a doughier texture. I loved the food and it was a great opportunity to try something new. Perfect for those picnic vibes too!
