Pete's Teriyaki House

Been going there since the old location in the 90's and it's always been great. Special fried chicken and tempura fish. I live in LA now and Pete's is as much on the to do list when I come into town as seeing my family.

I thought I would give it a try after hearing how good the food is from many people I know. The reviews seems good. When I arrived, there was no line. Menu was easy to order from. We got one teriyaki chicken bowl and one beef teriyaki bowl. These bowls are pre made!!! Not grilled or made fresh on the spot! The meat was very chewy and dry. No flavor. Hardly any teriyaki sauce. I was not a fan of the teriyaki sauce due to it being thick and salty. I added one Shasta twist because they did not carry sprite nor 7up. Total came out to $30. Will not be returning. I can make this better at home for less $$.

Came by here the other day and grabbed a chicken bowl. It has been about 30 years since I've been here. Used to come as a teenager and get the same thing, but had moved out of state for a number of years. The service was great and the food the same! This is a great little place for a nice price!

Stopped by Pete's on my way out of town. I was craving tempura and wasn't near my usual spot. The prices were high but the tempura was good. Carrots underdone but the sweet potatoe, shrimp, and broccoli were perfect. The teriyaki sauce was okay but I prefer soy sauce and sambal and they charged extra, for extra sauces. Good thing I had soy sauce and sambal in my car!!!

I've come here twice now and each time I thought the wait was a bit longer 10-15 plus minutes, and the food just okay. The first time I ordered the fried chicken plate and I thought the batter was a little heavy but bland. The chicken was similarly plain. The second time I ordered the chicken teriyaki plate and again I thought that the chicken was a little dry, even though I got dark meat chicken mixed with white meat as recommended. The vegetable tempura I thought was similarly bland and I had to ask for sauce, but even with the sauce it was just okay. I wasn't a fan of the food here and every time I come I get stuck waiting after a long line of people. I wouldn't come back after my first two experiences here.There are about 5-7 tables inside and you can feel free to sit down after you've placed your order. Sometimes the place is pretty packed that it might be hard to find a seat.

The tempura veggies are to thick and they don't taste done. The batter is flavorless. The beef isn't good, the chicken wasn't cooked enough, pork was fine. Rice was good, I really like the thick teriyaki and the tempura sauce was good. Restaurant was clean and the lady who was working was so nice. I probably won't come back my usual place is closed on weekends. Update literally all my pork was fat

Stumbled upon this place on accident. The wait at Edo-Ya was insane so we decided to hit this place after seeing the reviews. It's not overly expensive. It's about $15 a plate. We ordered for a party of 4 plus a few side orders of tempura shrimp and egg rolls plus a few sodas came out to ~$100.00. I really failed on taking photos of the food. 2 of the plates I took were blurry. This place is really popular for Doordash. When we arrived there were 2 people infront of us and one behind us and 2 of those orders were Doordash orders. As we sat down to eat inside we heard another 4-5 Doordash orders being picked up. I got a combo plate so I had a little bit of the chicken, beef and pork. Honestly the chicken was probably my favorite because it had such a wonderful grilled flavor and it was so moist. Veggie egg rolls were okay and the tempura shrimp felt like it was a bit heavy on the tempura so the ratio to tempura to shrimp was really over powering. One thing I can appreciate about the tempura was it wasn't really oily. My dad ordered the fish and chips and he said this was one of the best fish and chips plates he had because it wasn't oily like most he has experienced. This is a place your order and pick it up place. Yes, they had indoor seating but it's not really a sit down and dine place. It can be a bit noisy at times. The only thing that was disappointing was the sweet and sour sauce for the egg rolls and tempura. They looked exactly like the teriyaki sauces that my son didn't even realize he had grabbed all of the same sauce (the sweet and sour) leaving the ready of us to only have the teriyaki sauce to dip in. There really wasn't much difference in color to see the difference and they weren't marked.The cashier was very friendly and the food was prepared really quickly.

We ordered 5 chicken plates and two of our plates had rice that was undercooked and 3 plates that had rice that was very mushy. No tempura sauce was given. Ordered over the phone and the lady that took our order was very rude. Think they've gone down hill since the last time I was here.

This place used to be the place now it's the place to avoid. I used to go here all the time when they were located on Shaw and Van Ness area. I'm they were so good back then. I went with my green daughter who love chicken bowls rice and tempura is mushy. Chicken was lacking... if you want good tasting bowls go to Kenji's on Blackstone and Bullard. Pete's needs to retire.

This place just went down hill, food is horrible and prices are way too high for the quality of food!!!Save your money and go somewhere else.
