Rose sold out to new owners. The bread was perfect ever since her brother sold it 30 years ago in Fresno, Now it missing something, I do not know what it is, but it just doesn't taste the same, The Armenian pizza (lahmajoun) does not taste same. I asked about this and they swear they are using the same recipe. The other stuff, Rose made seem to have vanished, Do not rely on the old pictures.

Occasion Bakery is a delicious little gem in the middle of Fresno. I found this place while I was driving a few students home. The sign that read "Armenian Bakery" was enough to bring me to a stop. We went inside and were immediately greeted with the warm hospitality of Rose, the bakery owner. We ordered a few sweet pastries ( savory spinach, cheese, and a peach turnover) and they each deliciously melted in our mouths! I'll definitely be coming back to sample their lunch options. If you haven't tried this place yet, head on over. The unique options and authentic Medeterranian, Lebanese, and Armenian delights are a rare find in Fresno!

I came across Occasion Bakery on the way to Yosemite National Park and what a gem of an authentic Armenian Bakery. First of, it is family owned and run with old school charm and recipes that have been in the family for generations. We had lahmajoun and spinach and cheese boreks that were amazing. Great selection of freshly backed sweet as well as savory items. The baklava and the maamouls are a must. We stocked up on goodies for our 4 day hiking and skiing trip. If you ever are going to Yosemite park you stop by occasion bakery which is right on the way and right off the freeway. Highly recommended must visit.

Too many Middle Eastern restaurants in the USA (and Fresno, by the way) base their cuisines on what types of food were being served in Middle Eastern countries 30-50 years ago. Today's Middle Eastern cuisine, like America's, has become more focused on fast food, quick bites, snacks, and sandwiches to go. Traveler's to countries like Lebanon or Egypt will be far more likely to find foods that are more like Occasion Bakery than full-service sit-down restaurants. For this reason, Occasion Bakery has their finger on the pulse of today's "fast-food that doesn't taste like fast food" vibe that is exuded from the Middle East and America as well. Here, you'll find great sandwiches (order the soujouk and thank me later), lahmajoon (to die for--by far the best in the valley), and innumerable baked goods.Expect to pay half of what you'd pay at Phonecian Garden, Mediterranean Grill, or AJ's. All in all, one of Fresno's truly great bangs for the buck and exceedingly authentic.

I'd been meaning to write a review for this place. It is hidden in the back of the Medicine Shoppe on Fresno/Gettysburg. When I first step into this place, it smelled heavenly. There's nothing more warm & homey than the smell of fresh baked breads. I didn't know what to order so I asked for the special & he gave me what look like a huge calzone filled w/ cheese & minced beef. The bread is moist and delicious! it was only $3 & it filled me up. I'm a repeat customer here and will try a lot more things next time.

The man who helped us was super nice and adorable. There's nothing like the smell of fresh bread cooking.I grabbed some Lamhajoon(sp?) aka Armenian pizza and some Olive flat bread. The lamhajoon is pretty good and cheaper and larger than Fresno Deli's. But I like the one Fresno Deli's offer better in terms of taste. They also have lots of beef filled pastry things. They looked like mini calzones. There is also a $10 minimum to use your card. Will definitely be coming back for the bread.

Hands up for the best Eastern Mediterranean bakery this side of the Mississippi!Lucky Fresnans get to enjoy this local treasure where they get authentic and gourmet breads, pastries & plates all year round. If you're passing through Fresno on business, don't miss this place before you leave. In fact make it your last stop for provisions at home.Mama Rose, the resident genius is there making her delicious treats. The Lahmajoun is unforgettable. Spiced absolutely perfectly. You will have a hard time controlling your urge for yet another. The Sou Burek is the real thing. Buttery, cheesy, yummy. I am always proud to serve it to my guests at home. The tahini bread is spot on. The right amount of sweetness complimenting the nutty richness of the sesame seed paste. You won't find a better accompaniment to your coffee.Everything I tried from the menu was spectacular. Truly Gourmet. Artisinal quality. It's a "better than mom's" experience.5 Stars

They don't have the sandwiches on the pictures readily available. I went for a zaatar bread that I saw in one of the pictures and the gentleman told me that he could make it but I would have to wait about 30 minutes for the oven to heat up. #ramdon

So I yelped for something nearby. This popped up and I thought to give it a try. I've never had shawerma, so I decided to try it. It looked pretty simple, but it's packed full of awesomeness. I'm definitely coming back.
