This tour was very cool! The docent lead tour was very interesting. They had some original items in the house and a lot of period correct pieces. The docent was very knowledgeable about the history of the house and family story. The tour also had a/c. The 1st tours of the day starts almost right after the doors open and they only run as many as they have guides. If you miss them you have to wait until the next 1 starts. The house renovation was amazin

Really loved the Meux Home Museum!! Extremely well preserved and presented. Each room was a ton of variety, tons of interesting items and clothing and history. Both guides (bottom and top floors) were informative and nice, and everyone was really enthused. I must say that the main guy - not a tour guide but the guy who seemed like he was in charge at the front desk - was very off-putting, that would be my one minor irk, but luckily he wasn't the guide. We got to learn about the family, walk around the outside, and see everything - even learned about the old trolley system, I wish that still existed. I actually grew up in a house like this so in some ways it was almost like returning to my childhood memories. Great historical house!

Spring Tea at the Meux mansion was a fine outing for a Sunday in May. Most of the guests wore dresses and some donned pretty hats or fascinators. There were about a dozen tables, which seated ten each, done up in white and pink. The centerpiece was a two-tiered cake stand piled with blueberry scones. They were delicious smothered in lemon curd and raspberry jam! Each guest got a tray of tea sandwiches as well. There was a silent auction and fashion show. Lastly, we toured the house itself. I believe in patronizing our Fresno landmarks. The cost $45 per person. A Christmas tea is also available, as are regular weekly tours of the house.

Came in this past weekend while in Fresno for a work trip. Super fun thing to do for any reason out there. Staff was friendly and the home was beautiful. Do not allow photos which in 2022 is a little lame but not a big deal. Highly recommend if you're in the area and looking for something to do. Which I'm sure would be the case haha

Ok first of all, didn't know this till I went there. Their is a movie called winchester about the life of the woman who lived in this house. But as for the tour... our guides name was Jen, super cool, very good at her job. She clearly cares about the historical significance of this Supreme Victorian landmark. She did a fantastic job, keeping everyone entertained included and she made the tour fun!!! This is honestly my first tour review I usually do food but it was a good time to be had. Specifically the architectural design in this tome was especially intriguing. The sheer mystery surrounding the estate mixed with the controversy about events that happened. I won't indulge in spoilers, however you are bound to have a good time. Not to mention the gardens are absolutely beautiful. While I mention all of the positives I must focus also on the negatives. Not really negatives per se just questions. It's mentioned during the tour that no furniture in the house was owned Mr. Winchester wife however it is all authentic to the period. This was somewhat of a disappointment. I was hoping for something of originality still standing aside from the stai. Glass work in the house. Which is spectacular by the way. Oh lastly to note the staff in the gift shop was able to help acquire shirts in sizes that are not held in stock on premises. 10/10 would recommend.

My parents and I went to the Meux Home for a tour (my idea, not theirs, haha) a couple of weeks ago on a Saturday and were greeted at the door by the friendly museum volunteers. They do not require masks and were not themselves wearing them, but my mother and I chose to keep ours on (despite being vaccinated). As others have stated, there is parking located directly next to the house, and they do not require reservations; we walked right up, paid, and were sent on our way with a docent. The house is air-conditioned, and as such, is a suitable diversion for a blazing summer afternoon in the Central Valley. It was fascinating to walk through the beautifully restored home and see everyday objects that had been used by the Meux family or might have been utilized by other people in the era of the house's prime. The museum has a "no photo" policy, else I might've been able to share with you some of the details in the house, such as its trend of corner sinks or elaborate hair sculptures (yep, you read that right-- multiple generations of hair twisted together and formed into intricate floral shapes). I particularly liked the upstairs sunroom furnished with wicker and could totally imagine living there, donning the fashions of the time. In the absence of pictures however, I suppose y'all will just have to visit yourselves!$10 each, comparable to the cinema, and for a change, you might learn something

For the price and the time spent, this was a pretty interesting tour. It gave me some things to think about, about what life was like during the time period. The docent was obviously a nerd for the place; informative and had answers to all the questions we asked. It was a Sunday around noon and we almost had the tour to ourselves, except another couple showed up part way through and were added to our group.

Accessible only by 50-minute tour for $10. Free parking in the lot to the right of the house. Meux is pronounced "muchs" instead of "mew".The tour grants access to two floors - both furnished for the correct period but not always from the original owners. The house was expanded which created some oddities like storm cellar doors in the middle of the house. Architecturally, the house doesn't have any highly distinctive features but is properly representative of the era. The strength of the tour was the interiors that were filled with decorative items like silver sets and artwork made of human hair to help illustrate Victorian lifestyle for the upscale doctor's family.
