The place was clean, restrooms very clean . The service was very good. The waitress was efficient and knowledgeable of their menu Soup is not an everyday menu item so todays special was the abondigas soup was soup of the day, very flavorful nice amount of veggies and delicious. The rice was cooked, to perfection all in all it was a 9 out of 10. If you're ever in Chowchilla or passing through worth stop. They have other food items, but on a cold or rainy day or in mood for soup, if it's on the menu try it , definitely can't go wrong.

If I could give it no stars I would. This place is trash and traditional needs to be taken out of the name. Everything is from the can and there is no way in hell the people who cook the food here grew up eating this. I'm also sure this isn't how they cook at home. The salsa is basically tomato sauce with a couple of chilis chopped up in it. The beans and rice are TRASH!!!! I really don't know how the people of Chowchilla allow this place to be in business and go and spend there money there. I don't see Mexican people in there eating there's not many black people so you know who that leaves.

Service was good. Food had no flavor at all. Salt didn't help it at all. Beans taste like they were from the can. Definitely not traditional Mexican food. Salsa taste like blended tomatoes with salt.

The restaurant is cute. The design isn't overcrowded. We were seated quickly and in a booth, which I love. Everyone was friendly, and the food was wonderful! My husband and I each ordered a 3-item combo. Mine was chicken enchilada, beef tamale, and chili rellano. His was a chicken taco, beef enchilada, and beef tamale. A few suggestions; the tamale was good with beef and little diced potatoes, but I believe they use the Maseca corn masa, but I do prefer the fresh ground corn masa. The chili rellano was great, but if they had removed the seeds, it would have been greater! Also, I believe they cook their beans with animal fat, but if they used vegetable shortening or oil, it would be one more vegetarian option. There are a lot of vegetarians out there now, so a few simple choices allow them to partake, as well! The prices were reasonable, and our server was great! We will be back!

First and last time here. Taco was soggie and fell apart, tamale tasted spoiled and if it had been made weeks before being served. Rice bland, beans tased like the ones from a can. Enchilada sauce was watered down and had little flavor. My partners food (carne asade) tasted like spoiled meat. Sorry to say, but the owners heart isn't in it anymore to let go this bad...

Prices have doubled in the past 3 years for street tacos. Average tex mex imo. Most expensive michelada I've seen ($17.50) with one beer. Better options are available in town.
