Jays Specialty Ice Cream

I went to a birthday party and I was able to try their ice cream for free because they do catering for events. Their ice cream is also handcrafted and they give you BIG scoops! I would say this is a shareable for sure. I'm usually okay with eat a normal sized scoop but this is definitely for the ice cream lover. The truck is the original and hasn't been upgraded since I've last seen it. They still do the chalkboard menu.

How have I never done a review of Jay's?? We've enjoyed this ice cream for years now. It's delicious. Oreo Delight is probably their best seller and for good reason. But I always like trying new flavors. We can always find them at least one weekend evening at Gazebo Gardens and every Thursday on the east end of courthouse park downtown which is so convenient to me. They get a great crowd of downtown workers so I suggest coming around 2:00, after the lunch crowd dies down and before they're 3:00 afternoon break lolThis week we got coffee cake (coffee ice cream with pieces of coffee cake in it. YUM!), chocolate birthday cake and orange pineapple. Instead of that one, I wish I'd gotten mango. Crossing my fingers they have it next week. And that coffee cake. My absolute favorite flavor is their banilifer. I force myself to wait until the next day so the nilla wafer cookies and nice and soft. OMG I love that ice creamThey have a variety of items like milkshakes, sundaes, nachos with broken up waffle cone pieces, ice cream and sauces and sprinkles. But we always get pints. At $7, it's the best deal.

Went to their posted address on Yelp on a Tuesday at 3:30 during their posted hours of operation but, no one seemed to be there, despite being listed as "open until 9p. One star would be unfair but anything better than 2 is def not warranted, given that the least they could do is put a sign in their door, or update yelp

Smooth and creamy scoops here with naturally tasting flavors that are not *too* sweet but will satisfy those cravings. Stopped by this truck while hanging out at Gazebo Gardens and decided to try the ice cream flight. Very reasonably priced at $8 for 4 scoops. We tried Peaches and Cream, Oreo Delight, Red Wave, and What a Hunk (peanut butter ice cream with caramel and pretzel bits). The ice cream is definitely made with a natural cream, so folks with any lactose intolerance should beware! Otherwise, the scoops are nice and creamy, and we very much enjoyed the flavors. Favorite was probably the peaches and cream, which tasted very simple and natural. The other flavors had one element that seemed to overpower the others (e.g., Red Wave just tasted like strawberry) but were still enjoyable. Interested to come back and try more flavors!

Seriously some of the best ice cream I've ever had!! Their banana ice cream is my fave!

I'm no ice cream connoisseur. In fact, I rarely eat it. But I heard good things about Jays and was enticed when I noticed they offer peach ice cream. Love me some peaches!The peach ice cream's flavor was a little too subtle and the chunks of peaches in it were not sweet at all- tasted like nothing really. I would say 3.5 stars for that flavor. Second flavor I ordered was lemony sweet ice cream. Much more prominent flavors and had lemon cookies in it, very good! 4 stars for lemony sweet. Overall, the quality of ice cream surpassed my expectations...they have an extensive menu and I'm sure there are other flavor offerings that really knock it out of the park.

The dude and I came here on 5/21/20 and for the recent ice cream social on 5/28/20 at the People's Church.The first time I tried Jays I got the Oreo Delight and another flavor which was delicious! I love it when the cookies are still crunchy mmmmm! They didn't appear to have any alcohol ice cream when we came home out.The second time I came they had Baileys Alcohol ice cream which was SO good!!! You can taste the delicious Baileys alcohol and the sweet notes of the ice cream! So bomb! It paired well with the Oreo Delight. I definitely am craving the ice cream.The staff was very friendly and for my ice cream out quick! The dude got a Chocolate Malt which was yummy too! They have many more flavors and can turn any flavor into a milkshake!I don't know any local stores selling alcohol ice cream which definitely makes them unique and wanting to come back for more!To find their location please check out their Facebook page as they change locations often. I hired Jays for my wedding at bass lake. I got to choose 7 flavors and they set up a push cart. My guest really enjoyed it. The ice cream was so good and good portion size. The price was affordable and Janel was very responsive to my inquiries.

Don't get me wrong, this is great quality ice cream. Real creamy and rich, and wonderful in flavor. But you can't give me chocolate ice cream and call it "rocky road," or Oreo flavored ice cream and call it "Oreo delight." I got their ice cream because my friend told me about how jam packed the ice cream is. "Coldstone but better," was what she said. But I mean, look at the photo. It's jam packed with nothing. Kept eating layer after layer, hoping for it to have something...but nothing. Great ice cream but with no cookies, or nuts and marshmallows, it becomes 1 profile. No textures, no layered flavor notes. I'm sorry but I can't stand by the "Coldstone but better." At least with Coldstone I know they'll have the components of a Rocky Road or Oreo Delight in it.

After over 20 minutes of waiting in 103 heat, we were over it. They took FOREVER, and two people in those 20 minutes were served before us. You'd think they were milking the cow back there for how long it took! Will never waste my time or money again. Sad I tipped prematurely when ordering. Enjoy your $10 for the milkshake we never got. Would not recommend.
