Javi's Turlock Mexican Restaurant

First visit to Javi's since 2016. When I pulled into the parking lot, I saw two homeless people with a shopping cart. They were gone by the time I left.The service was outstanding. We were warmly greeted with fresh chips and three sides: cabbage salsa, red salsa, and bean dip. I think I liked the cabbage salsa and the bean dip the best.I am grateful they have lunch specials here. Looking at the regular menu, unless you want nachos or a salad, most entrees are were $19.99, $20.99, and up.I had the combo plate. The tamales were good, but nothing special. The rice was better than the beans.So looking at my previous review, not much has changed. Our server was great, checked up on us regularly, and asked if we wanted split checks. The fish tanks are still there, but I didn't see very many fish in the front tank.

We used to dine at another local Mexican restaurant in town. We loved the ambiance and service, but the food was always inconsistent in my opinion. My husband suggested Javi's. The location is conveniently located near the college. Upon entering you are encouraged to seat yourself which is nice. The menu is extensive and there are pictures of all of the offerings which is helpful. We were promptly provided with warm tortilla chips, salsa, cabbage salsa and cheesy bean dip. Yummy! Our server took our order and brought our food to us very quickly. Our food was hot and tasty. Javi's provides quick and friendly service and hot and tasty food. We will definitely return!

Really good service all around. The food was really good I really love the carne asada burrito it was HUGE. I felt comfortable soon as I sat down and was made to feel like I was a top priority or a food critic. The waitresses regularly came over to check up on me to make sure everything was alright and made sure the food was to my liking. I would definitely go again

This is for the owners: UPDATE YOUR HOURS!! I watched the servers turn away 10 people because you close at 8. It was 7:45 & 7:50. You CLEARLY CANNOT BE BOTHERED?? Not sure I want to patron a place where the owners can't be bothered to ACTUALLY RUN THEIR RESTAURANT.

What a disappointment. I've lived in Turlock for a couple years but never tried Javi's -- today was the day. Regrettable decision. I ordered a burrito supreme a la carte for takeout. Where to begin. I can count on 1 finger the number of times I've sent something back in the last 10 years. This was that time. The burrito was served a styrofoam container and the entire bottom of the container was meted into the burrito. So melted that they stacked it into another foam container to keep everything from falling apart. A toxic combo of tortilla & cheese fused to melted foam. Awful. I HATE to complain at restaurants but this was inedible. They happily remade it and apologized. No melted foam on round 2 ... but they forgot the tomatoes and lettuce found in a burrito supreme. Rice, beans, meat, & cheese only. Didn't complain the 2nd time - just sighed a little, closed the foam lid, and drove home. Unfortunately, this was at or near the top of worst burritos I've ever had.

I want to start out by saying that food is usually pretty good, but not this time. We ordered chicken fajitas because we do not eat beef. They brought us beef fajitas. I sent it back, the waitress then brought us the chicken fajitas. got half way thru our dinner and found beef mixed in. It was obvious that they pulled the onions and bell pepper out and reused it with the chicken. Thus, the beef was mixed in. It's our lifestyle choice not to eat beef, I wonder how they would like a lawsuit? If it would have been someone with a food allergy?

Javi's is a great hidden gem. We have eaten here for many years. They have the best chicken fajitas in all of Turlock. Owner is wonderful, makes sure all customers are well taken care of. Even to the point of making sure some of her elderly patrons make it to their car ok. Fresh warm chips, great salsa & cabbage & ice cold mugs for beer & great margaritas. I highly recommend Javi's

I knew the food probably wasn't going to be good, based on the reviews but I have it a shot anyway. Can confirm the effort of serving good quality food and portions does not exist here.

Omg the best margaritas on Wednesdays. Try the queso tacos and fajitas. The three girls that work there are super friendly and provide great service.

We got a really small burrito for $12, pretty disappointed about that. Tacos were good for 2.50
