Jantz Cafe & Bakery

This place isn't located in a location you'd think of when seeing what their whole vibe is all about. For as comfy & homelike the feeling is inside it's located in a very commercial boxy building and we almost didn't find it because our maps took us to the backside where you can't see the place at all. The ambiance is welcoming right when you walk through the doors. Clean, warm colors , the aroma of fresh baked goods and friendly service. The French toast is just like grandma would make with fresh bread too. The sausage links were so flavorful and tender with a nice snap of the skin , I could of eaten a whole plate of them. All meat omelet was generous in its portion and tasty. Restrooms were super clean along with the entire establishment. They do a great job of keeping the place tidy. We grabbed a box of sugar cookies to bring to family and they were soft and buttery good. We most certainly will come back when we are in the area next. Highly recommend.

Delicious food ! Definitely fresh , and you can tell by the flavor and the way that you feel afterwards! Do not leave without a tray of cinnamon rolls . You will regret only getting one like we did . We went @ 9:30 on a Saturday and the wait was about 10 min despite them being very busy ! Super kind staff, we will be back !

Visited this place for breakfast. We waited 20 minutes, then I decided to walk around the cafe and found that they had free tables and not one. The table at which we were seated later was exactly the free one that I had seen before. They do not have enough staff, the waiters are busy, and you have to wait a long time. The interior is beautiful, lots of light in the room. Owners should consider hiring more staff because the place is quite popular even on weekdays. The table we sat at was dirty. The coffee latte had a strong burnt taste. The food is not very tasty. The pie was delicious. I was surprised that you have to pay for the sauce for a burrito, how can you eat a burrito without sauce at all? Breakfast tacos looked like a mess. Prices are above average and not justified for me. Don't recommendSam who replied to my review. We did not change seats on our own, but asked your staff to help us with the table! And it was your staff that gave us that seat. And if they gave us a different table, they should have wiped down the table and made sure it was clean. Instead of responding normally, you joke around and look for excuses

I've tried to give this restaurant some grace but they just stand around and DO NOT SERVE YOU. I just was seated once again and sat for 10 minutes while 5-6 women chatted behind the counter and several of them passed my table and no one took my order. This is a chronic issue at the Merced store. Someone needs to Supervise and observe what's going on. My impression is that you just don't care about my business. I don't have all day to wait on your staff to get in the mood to do their jobs. I need to get in there, eat and get back to my business. THIS IS NO WAY TO RUN A BUSINESS, FOLKS!Sadly the food isn't too bad but you will never truly succeed hiring people who are not customer service oriented.

I love jantz brunch food so I thought I'd stop by and get some desserts to go. One of the desserts I got was a chocolate cupcake with Strawberry frosting. It was literally the worst cupcake I've had in my life and I had to spit it out. The cake part tasted like straight oil. It was very strange and not edible. Disappointed. I tried just the frosting as well and it tasted bitter. The other two desserts I got were okay.

They have the best tasting pies . But also their sandwiches are delicious. The staff are so attentive and friendly. Feel like being in a family gathering when you enter the place. Can't wait other breakfast

I have always wanted to try the grilled cheese special but never found myself there on Thursday. Finally, I made it and ordered it. I was so happy I did. Grilled cheese on garlic bread with basil tomato soup.... WHO could ask for anything more on a cold winter day. It was the best. So yummy. I now will be scheduling Thursday lunch dates.
