So far so good at the year round/indoor Jamie's School of Fish baby and me group lessons! We've been to 4 so far. They take babies as young as 6 months, my daughter was 8 months when we started and she is definitely improving each week, but still gets scared going under water/with the instructor and will cry after that happens. She may be a little young still because we see the other babies in the group who are over 14 months and they seem to enjoy and do really well! The techniques they review each week have to do with movement in the water, holding their breath, going to the wall and using their hands to get across, floating, kicking, etc. The instructor Davis is great and has some fun songs and games that make getting used to the water fun. We signed up online and it's a rolling/monthly charge and you can stop via email 30 days in advance. There are various times and days for the baby and me class, they also have individual/private lessons and other group lessons too! I also know they have a second location in Clovis. As for the location, it is the indoor pool in the old Fitness Evolution/Sierra Racquetball Club, so there are several other gym/studios in that building now, and JSOF uses one of the hallways and the indoor pool. The women's restroom/locker room is right by the pool which makes it easy for kiddos/families getting out of the pool, because it is labeled as a family room when door is open. But we still can't figure out where the men's restrooms are! The JSOF hallway and pool is nicely managed/kept clean, and honestly so is the gym that you walk through to get here. Because of the multi businesses, the parking can be a lot in the evenings, especially since there is not really a paved parking lot for this business. (People do a decent job creating the rows but it is always nerve wracking parking. )Again, so far so good even if our little one protests for some of the lesson each time. We hope she knows we are doing this for her safety! :)
