Ideal Saw & Knife Works

My current jointer conked out, so I was looking to replace it. Given supply chain issues, nearly every 6 inch jointer is backordered. After scrounging the web, I came across Ideal Saw Works. I called for a Laguna jointer but had no luck. On a whim, I asked about a Jet jointer, which they had. A single one. Today, I drove to the Ideal Saw Works and bought it. The gent on the floor (Chuck) was helpful and knowledgeable and workers partially disassembled it so it would fit in my vehicle. The array of woodworking machines is breathtaking.

The best in The Valley, my blades are sharp Like I'll never seen them that sharp before, Professional customer service no messing around.

First off, the new address is 2680 E. Church Ave. second, the selection is very limited. I saw their info when searching Rockler stores, so I was dumbfounded to learn they carry zero hand planes. Lastly, the customer service is absolutely piss poor. I walked in and browsed for more than five minutes without an acknowledgement. When an employee walked nearby, I said "excuse me sir" nice and loud, and he literally turned around and walked away. I walked after him and when I knew I was in close proximity, I asked "Do you guys carry hand planes?" Again he ignored me and picked up the phone saying "Yeah, I have two left..." I stood in shock because I was figuring he was hard of hearing and I don't know sign language, but turns out he's just a piss poor employee. He then turned to me and said "No I don't." I walked out.

Very knowledgeable staff. Great selection of brands. I needed 6 new saw blades made to my specifications. I walked into the store at 11:00 and was told they would be ready at 2:00. They were ready on time. Great Service.

My bandsaw motor froze up and shop lights kept dimming every time I tried to start the saw. I tried to have the motor repaired but most repair shops told me it wasn't worth their time. One quoted $125 per hour to diagnose the problem. Replacement motors cost between $185 and $300. The old saw was a Rigid 14 inch bandsaw that sold at Home Depot for less than $300. My wife convinced me to get a new saw. I researched on line and most bandsaws are shipped at freight cost and the reviews about delivery problems were dismal. I went to Ideal Saw Works and they had a 14 inch Jet with a riser all ready installed on special. Chuck demonstrated the saw and after a few minutes I purchased the saw and it was delivered same day to my garage. Unpacking the saw and lifting it in place took 3 of us. The difference in the performance of this saw is stunning. Cuts smooth (scrap wood so far). Definitely worth the drive to this store. Great customer service the minute I entered the store. I wish I would have done this years ago.
