Hot Rod Diner

Ordered the bonanza burger... Loved the burger minus the lettuce. It was too wilted from the patty. The young man that greeted us was very friendly, the waitress could have been friendlier. It was the busiest I've ever seen, but it was precious seen elderly friends enjoying a meal wearing their old Leatherman jackets. Perhaps it was a high school reunion, whatever it was... It was a joy to see them smiling and enjoy there meals together. Overall, it is always a go to for my family... If we want a delicious meal.

Staff is super friendly, helpful and attentive. Good portions are huge for price. Shrimp tacos are amazing.

Food is usually really good here, service leaves a lot to be desired. I can understand if the place is extremely busy, but to have the hostess prioritizing her phone or talking to cook over getting our order(especially when she was told no menu needed, already knew what we wanted. Unfortunately this is not a one off instance at this particular location.

Great food! We've eaten here for dinner a number of times and have never had a bad meal. Had pork chops (in cherry reduction) this time and they were delicious. Not only that, but they were large enough that we bought leftovers home for the next night's dinner. The menu is large with a number of choices for dinner entrees, burgers, sandwiches, salads and breakfast combinations, too. Looking forward to our next visit.

Overall, the food experience was amazing. The Chicken Fried Steak was very flavorful. It is not outrageously big (which is good), and the gravy that is on top compliments it. It has flavor and really makes the whole dish cohesive. The Popeye omelete was good as well. With the spinach, onions, and ground meat, it makes a hearty breakfast meal for anyone.The service was good. We were able to seat ourselves and were greeted by a host for our drinks.Not too long after that, our waitress came and took our order. With a full diner, our food came out quite fast.Overall ambiance was a classic diner experience. There was indoor and outdoor seating. Booth and table options.Definitely a gem!

Always a reliable and testy meal. This used to be a legendary bar in Modesto, not so much anymore, but the food and restaurant are still amazing, FAST and delicious. This is a very reasonably priced restaurant that the entire family can enjoy. The staff is always so nice and the restaurant is clean. It is super easy to find directly off the freeway and there is a big parking lot with plenty of free parking for patrons. Anything you choose will be delicious. I'm partial to the hobo scramble with a biscuit and gravy.

I got the Bonanza Burger and OMG it was soooo delicious. I asked for my burger to be very well done, and it was exactly how I ordered it. The fries were great too. This place is a hidden gem!

Love this place we usually sit at the bar. The service is great the ladies here are nice. Typical bar food but I really like the salads here.

I went to Hot Rod diner about a week ago and was served by Mel, she is a wonderful server. This is an awesome diner, and their food is amazing as well as the portions!! thank you, Mel

Had two meals here - breakfast and lunch - both real good with quality foods ! Service was excellent.... Recommend!
