We've been coming here for years and like it a lot. Is it truly gourmet? I guess that's up to each person's judgment but it's great tasting food and we love it. The special egg fu yung is great. chock full of vegetables and the sauce is delicious. It's enough for 4 people honestly. The hot and sour soup is some of the best I've ever had. The mushrooms are fresh and the broth has just the right amount of spice. Delicious. We sometimes come here just for that alone. The chow mein is good also. The service is friendly and quick. Drinks are in large glasses and because of that you almost never need a refill. Highly recommended

Small dining room with booths and tables. There is a larger room just off the entry to accommodate a large group. Lunch service is pretty laid-back. No rush to get you in and out. Luncheon menu provides a nice selection of options to give you a taste of their meals. Soup and egg rolls are offered with each choice. Food is attractively served and is prepared with quality ingredients. Reasonable prices.

I'm not enjoying writing this review. We ordered the almond chicken combo ($15) and sizzling rice soup ($13). The soup was legitimately just hot water with spinach and very few pieces of chicken, which were also tasteless. There was no flavor whatsoever. The rice helped a little, but for $13, it was atrocious and we got a refund, which we don't normally do. The almond chicken was marginally better, with noodles that had an odd aftertaste and, again, not much chicken (and even fewer almonds). Altogether I was extremely disappointed and I won't order from them again. Also side note, we were supposed to get some egg flower soup with the combo that never showed. The photo with the chicken is after I put some in a bowl so it's a little messy looking.

While I ordered takeout from Helen's Gourmet Chinese food today, I wasn't able to experience their ambiance. However, I can comment on the service and food. Although the delivery time was longer than expected, the orange chicken exceeded my expectations with its great flavor. The chow mein served alongside the orange chicken was delicious, featuring thick noodles. The standout item for me was definitely the potstickers or dumplings--they were the best part of my meal.

Helens is my go-to for Chinese food in Fresno. The interior is a little dated, but I usually do to-go. The family is friendly and helpful. The chicken salad is the best in town. The dressing is super good. I've come in just to buy their dressing which they sell in different sizes. My favorites are the chicken salad and the sizzling rice soup.

I usually order the famous chicken salad but really wanted some hot soup. I ordered the Sizzling Rice Soup. It had a good amount of spinach but lacked chicken and flavor. Good thing I had gotten a rotisserie chicken from Costco. I shredded some in the soup and added some salsa. My friend ordered cashew chicken. He had a couple of pieces of chicken and that was it! He added some Costco chicken to his meal as well. He commented that it had good flavor just not much chicken. I guess I'll stick to ordering their Chicken salad.

I've been coming here for years enjoying the food and service but the last few times I've been here the service is terrible she looks mad when you walk inI don't know if she's having a bad day but hopefully she can find peace and happiness to make people's experience better and want to come back unfortunately I'm gonna have to find a new restaurant to go to. She walked by my table twice my cup was empty. I had to ask for a refill so she gave me more ice. I'm taking it as if you don't want my business and that's OK.

The worse service I've ever had! It's no surprise that no one was in there eating. The food deserves a 1 star. It's just not good at all. Just because it's been in Fresno a long time, doesn't mean it needs to remain. I ordered iced tea, then asked for water. She poured the water right into my tea cup. Yes, cup... cracked plastic cup. How do you have Kung pao, with only celery and hard broccoli? The pot stickers have no taste at all. The fortune cookie was stale. Don't waist your time. Don't let the pics fool you. I will neva be back

I went here because I heard they were really good a few years ago. right from the start the service was not good. the lady was rude and didnt have much to say. the food was lacking in flavor so much that it couldn't be saved. the "chicken salad" is iceburg lettuce with like 2oz of cold sweet chicken. no veggies and no dressings whatsoever. it was simply not good. the broccoli beef had no flavor whatsoever. the fried rice tasted like vanilla and contained no veggies. and the kung pao chicken was NOT spicy as promised. overall I would never return. it tasted and looked like a TV dinner from the microwave. hugely disappointed. didnt even want to pay for it.
