I used this attorney for nearly 3 years. He knows the law but he uses it to HIS advantage only. The only option that he ever presents to you is going to court/litigation. He never presents you with the option of negotiating the case or mediating the case. Two and a half years into my case, I started to tell him, "hey, we need to settle this case...it's been going on for a long time". His response to me was to call me "hasty" and "impatient". If you want a divorce that will be long, and if you want to fight and litigate over every singe issue, and if you want to spend tens of thousands of dollars in legal fees, then Dale Hatherley will be the correct attorney for you. If you object to anything that he does, he will come up with the line that he has been doing this for 40 years. In other words, he will do what he wants to do. You will have no say as to what takes place. Sounds unbelievable, but that is how it will be. So when you go sit in his office for the first time, and you look at those nature pictures ("photography by Dale Hatherle") on the wall, make yourself comfortable, because two and a half years later, you will still be sitting in that same spot with your case barely having moved an inch. My experience with him was so bad that I thought seriously of reporting him to the CA Legal Board but I simply did not want to spend anymore time on this, I wanted to move on with my life. Stay away from this guy, if you hire him, you will have a very long protracted difficult divorce case. Good luck.

Hatherley is an excellent attorney and very helpful as a specialist for getting one to focus on the unique, complex and possible different particulars of complicated case material in order to solve what is at hand in an easier manner. Very unethical. All about getting money. Broken contract. Laughter in mediation. Would highly recommend going else where.

WORST LAWYER OF ALL TIME!!! Could have been this screwed over with the divorce on my own!!! Didn't do a thing for me but take my 5k!!! He was rude along with the receptionist. And treated me like I'm a 5 year old with no intelligence!!! Highly recommend u take ur money somewhere else and even an appointed attorney will represent you 100x better!!! I had over 1000$ left in my retainer and said that it will be used for termination fees?? Wtf!!!??Point is vier elsewhere save your time and money!!!!

Dale is a superior attorney who will fight for your rights as a father. Navigating you thru difficult times and representing you in a way that no other attorney can. I have retained him over the last 14yrs and continue to seek his guidance, because he's an honorable gentleman who's only concern is for the children's best interest, while maintaining the highest standards.
