An immense and gorgeous museum which colorfully illustrates Fresno's history. I have been to the Fresno fair many a time and have completely overlooked this gem. History is a fascinating subject and it's always a treat to learn more about the place you were born and raised! The hallways leading up to the space itself are richly detailed and showcase vibrant displays of art and sports history. Once inside, you will see floor to ceiling walls dedicated to past leaders, presidents who have visited Fresno and even Armenian history in Fresno. I am looking forward to coming back in October to get the full experience! As far as I know, this museum only operates during fair time (October). Apparently, it can be rented out for events. However, I am not sure if just anyone can rent this space out or if it is limited to businesses and organizations. Btw the fundraiser I attended was more than successful, and Mell from Mell's mutts couldn't have picked a better space. If you plan on attending the fair this year, do check this out!

The first thing I thought about as I visited the Fresno fair was to visit this newly opened museum that exhibits the local history of the city of Fresno, I mean who needs to fight the line at the zipper ride, when I could indulge myself in such a prestigious historic education and a step back in time. This work in progress museum is absolutely stunning and is well done to showcase the history of Fresno.Im a fan of the tv show "mysteries at the museum" , and this newly opened museum surely remedies my longing for a museum (since Fresno lacks museums) that showcase the beautiful history of Fresno. Its not only beautiful, but the labels are so well done, and the explanation was so detailed. The lighting was also excellent at magnifying the minute details of all these artifacts. My favorite was the old time convenience store exhibit, basically it was a square room that exhibits the local sundry store style in the 1800-1920's period, where they had a weight scale and old style packaging of groceries and etc.The memorabilia is so well restored. There is a free guided tour of the museum every day the fair is open, at 11:30 a.m, 2 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. In the museum you will be greeted by a beautifully restored fire engine, showcasing some of the Fresno Fire Department's history. The museum does not only cover Fresno history, but also the history of the local fair. The museum is showcasing the first-ever cotton candy-making machine. This is totally worth fighting the crowds to see.I am not sure of the normal operation time yet, but I will update, I would highly recommend everyone to visit this new installation to the Fresno metropolitan. According to the fresno bee, the the new 14-thousand square foot museum cost $2.8 million and is estimated for completion in the next year and a half.
