When Five Star Burgers first opened up it reminded me a bit of Jerry's Drive In. Fast forward my last two visits left me disappointed. The fried shrimp and fish were burnt.

I us3d to frequent this place. Till one day the sons owner who cooks and is usually mild mannered, accused me of stealing soda when i put some ice in my cup after ordering food for me and my family. I told him he was mistaken. Explained what i did and said i was trying to ask clerk but she was busy. Again he insisted he saw me on camera. I got offended because it wasn't true and he was being rude and embarrassing me.I didnt go to eat there for quite some time. Its close by too. But today i went to be a guest again and said hello, that im back but didn't appreciate our last conversation. This pos still said he saw me on camera and basically called me a thief again! Wth! Wow. I got very angry and gave him the what for walked out and as far as im concerned, nothing but cockroaches in that place ive seen them everywhere!!! Be cautious.

I was pleasantly surprised how great all the food here tasted. The burgers looked and tasted good, with thick slices of bacon. I ordered the Philly cheesesteak and was initially disappointed that it didn't look as good as the burger but once I took my first bite I realized that this too was an excellent choice. All the sides were freshly fried to order (we had regular krinkle cut fries, curly fries, and jalapeno poppers), and although all were very good next time I would definitely pay the $0.70 to upgrade my combo meal to curly fries. Five Star Burgers truly deserves 5 stars - they are leaps and bounds above all the usual fast food chains!

Amazing locally owned burger joint in Merced. Food is really good and they have tons of things on the menu. The service is excellent I've never experienced an issue. Been in Merced my whole life and this is probably the best locally owned restaurants in Merced.
