Farmers Den

First, let me declare a bias at the outset for little places like this one, most often family run. We are losing them in a business environment that doesn't get any easier, and we sorely need that personal attention, the opportunities these businesses give people to work, socialize and enjoy themselves in a place where their patronage is truly appreciated. The Farmer's Den provides all of that and has good food to boot. The Farmer's Den is located at the corner of Crow's Landing and West Main, south of Modesto, west of Turlock. The parking can be challenging as road improvements over the years have taken much of the available space. My suggestion, take a good look around and park where you can. We got lucky, there was a space just to the left of the front door. Our visit was on 10-9-2024, when my stepmother and I were returning from visiting my Father's grave at the nearby veteran's cemetery. (It was four years since his passing.) We were greeting immediately upon entering, directed to choose our table from the several that were well kept and ready to go. Our waitress took our drink orders and left the menus promptly. While we waited, we both noticed how well decorated and kept the place was, (we both have lived in the region all of our lives and had never stopped by). The food came promptly, was well portioned. Mine, a chef's salad didn't have the mountain of lettuce under the meat and cheese you usually see at some restaurants, giving the impression that you are getting more (well you are, but I suspect most folks eat the proteins and leave much of the lettuce). The dish was fresh and flavorful. The ice tea seemed brewed and was spot on. My stepmother ordered a large breakfast with the intention of taking what she didn't finish home with her, which she did. She seemed to be satisfied with her meal. All around, full points, and I know that I will be stopping by with my wife on a future trip through here.

Certainly not up to the hype we've read. Our meals were mediocre at best. Grisly meat, sloppy presentation, disinterested service.Perhaps just an off night? We might try again sometime, maybe? With all the beer drinkers getting loud we'd never bring the family. Breakfast should be safe.

Pretty hard to believe.....breakfast for 2 adults and one 2 yr old child.....$69, before tip! Ridiculous, their prices keep rising, but the food is still the same.I'll be eating breakfast and/or lunch elsewhere from now on.

Went for the ribeye and prime rib dinner. They looked exactly the same. My prime rib was grilled. Tough as nails, spent more time trying to cut around the gristle and fat than I did eating.

Food was really good. Service was excellent very clean. Everyone should try it out. Parking is a little limited, but worth it.

A nice place to stop and have a breakfast or lunch I suppose but I stopped for breakfast after passing by this place and I noticed it so one day I decided to stop and to my surprise well I didn't know what to expect but once I went inside, my expectations was Satisfied because the staff was very friendly. The place was neat and clean and the food was good too in fact I'm going there again this morning several weeks later.

My daughter came home from college for a quick visit. She wanted farmers den before going back. Food was great. Service was quick. It was pretty busy for a week day. But we were taken care of and I really enjoy there breakfast. Cool country spot.

Loved our dinner and the staff is so nice I love the rice pudding and my wife enjoyed her prime rib and apple pie

We went on a Thursday evening for the Prime Rib/Rib Eye night. $45 a plate. It came with a baked potato, asparagus and a salad. It was very good. I had a chicken sandwich with avocado. I loved it! The service was friendly and personable. Thank you for a great time. We will be back

if you're ever curious why you guys shut down here's 3 reasons 1. Never answers the phone no matter what time of day 2. No parking ! Like make some lines somewhere. 3. Never consistent hours. I go around 12 or 1pm and yall close. I come early when yall supposed to open and yall never did. I've tried to eat here 4 times but always closed and never answered the phone. You guys have no one to blame but urself when yall go out of business
