Here's the thing. I've been coming here for YEARS but for whatever reason, I thought this place CLOSED DOWN sometime within the past year and became something else. Today I actually stopped by and realized, damn... It was just a (much needed) fresh coat of paint they threw on the blighted building. Anyway, I think this is the first time I've ever agreed with EVERY ONE of the other reviews- granted there's only 4 others at the time of this writing. They get major points from me for not being pretentious and uppity about what is clearly a dilapidated shithole of a building in a part of town that most would probably not describe in a much more favorable light. That said, if you're the type of person that describes Fulton Mall as "scary" or "ghetto," don't even think of coming here without your bigboy pants. The Westside laughs at your sheltered little life. I don't think I've ever come here (or even driven by here) and NOT seen people loitering in the parking lots or posted up on the side of the building. If that makes you uncomfortable, you're probably on the wrong side of town to begin with. So now that we have appearances out of the way- this is some of the best cheap food you can buy. I'm so glad to know this place is back (or, more accurately, was here the whole time and I'm clearly a retard.) I don't have to eat shitty fast food again or at the same Mexican restaurant for lunch all the time now while I'm at work. They DO have good Mexican food here, but everything here is pretty good. $5 flat, no tax for a double cheeseburger with fries- those are '90's prices, son. The cheeseburger is just as good as you'd get from a family bbq (patties are likely previously frozen, fries for sure come in a bag frozen but are still pretty good) and they've got other options like fried chicken that are under a heatlamp, just like the ones at a Von's or SaveMart deli would be.I guess I should have mentioned that this place is actually part of a larger store that's a carniceria/liquor store combo. When you walk in, the restaurant part is on the left (there's nowhere to dine-in) and when you order your food, the cook writes the price on the lid of the styrofoam container and you walk it over to the cashier in front to pay for it. Not "life-changing" food, but a godsend to a part of town that really doesn't have much going for it in terms of food- or anything much at all, sadly. It saves me from going all the way out to the fast-food chains on Jensen which are always mobbed with people during lunch, and it's much cheaper and better than fast food, as well. Definitely a winner.

The food is inside of this cute little market. The asada fries were the best I've ever had!!The woman making them was clean and had gloves on. The asada was seasoned and cooked to perfection (a little crispy how I like it) and the fries were crispy, they weren't soggy at all!I'll be there every time I'm on this side of town! The workers were friendly and they had a large variety of drinks and sodas that I hadn't seen anywhere else. Like fruit punch Fanta yum! And other organic teas and juices that looked good. They also had a wide variety of beer.

I have never had anything I did not like from this place. Seriously, you cannot go wrong! Asada Fries, Burritos, etc are sooo good. Don't miss this diamond in the rough! Yes, it smells a little weird in here, and yes, its not a great part of town and you see some things you'll probably wish you hadn't. But believe me, as soon as you taste the food you will start to believe that heaven itself is on the west side of town, and that God has taken the form of a woman in a hair net.I sacrilegiously digress. The point is, Family Food Market is the best place around for cheap and delicious food. I will gladly drive 20 minutes out of my way to get it any time.

People ask me where I always get my "asada fries" from. Well this place is the place! The asada fries anywhere else can not compare to here. Their quesadillas and their burritos are also delish! The guys behind the registers are very polite and helpful. The cooks at the carneseria speak mostly Spanish. The customers who buy from the carneseria expect 5star food and service. You are on the west side. These cooks and employees deal with disrespectful customers every single day. Don't expect 5star service. They are in agor atmosphere, are always in a rush and get disrespected. Be patient to be able to get your order right.

The Westside calls it Everybody's Market. A great lil spot to get quick groceries, or a hot meal that'll leave you satisfied. You can't go wrong with any of there plates from the Tacos to the Double Cheeseburger. It can gets packed in there sometimes, but only because they have limited help most of the day. worth the wait though. Is also kind of run down and is on a sometimes rough side of town. Don't let that discourage you from coming to this hidden fresno gem.

I only come here for the Asada fries. They're made fresh and the place is run down. The wait is long. It's hot in here but I still come back just the fries. Found this place back in High School & the fries are now $6 from when they were $5. But a lot cheaper than other places for the portion.Four stars for the asada fries. One star away for how hot it gets inside and how long the wait can be. Beware this place is located in the WESTSIDE and this is not some arsenios. You have to walk into the market and go order.

Best handmade breakfast burrito in Fresno. Freshly made on site, giant 2-hand burrito with potatoes, generous bacon, egg made to order. *** Only $7 and so huge feeds 2 adults. It has more food than 4 McDonalds breakfast burritos or 4 Jack n Box soft tacos. PLAN to sample their 'BOMB Chicken' 4 dinner.
