Came in not sure of what to expect. The place is huge!!! From the second I got out of my car I smelled something that smelled delicious. I went in and ordered the Super Burrito (asada) and I honestly have to say this was the best burrito I have ever had!!! I was so shocked at how amazingly they put it together. It was not too much of anything but came together to perfection. It wasn't spicy and the flavors were mind blowing. Oh...did I mention it was the size of a new born baby?!?!? It was only like $10 too (I can't remember the exact price but it was around 10.) I now understand why there are always so many people waiting. I didn't take a picture because I was too busy eating. The only issue is the parking...but I will manage if this is what I can expect from El Toro Tortilleria.

I first tried this place at a catered event and everyone thought the food was great. There were fresh corn and flour tortillas, steak, chicken, guacamole, salsa, rice, and refried beans. It was delicious to have such a variety. However, for my pick-up order, my experience was pretty different. I ordered through their online platform, which I think is powered through DoorDash. It said the order would be done in 10-15 minutes. When I got there in 20 minutes from the online order, the order was not even started. They hadn't seen it. So I waited for the order after another 10 minutes. My super burrito with steak was huge. However, the layout and proportions between meat, cheese, rice, beans, and guacamole was off. I saw mainly meat and guacamole, but not enough cheese, rice, or beans, which was unfortunate. The meat was also very smoky, and so it's not necessarily what you'd expect. This place can get very busy and they have a small parking lot, but there is some street parking though that's not guaranteed. This shop has a few tables, but not sure this is the best place to eat given the noise from the tortilla machines going on in the background. There are folks making tortillas in front of you, but it also means this place can get pretty loud and not have the ambiance of an expected restaurant.

If you're looking for the best tortillas or tamales in Fresno, this is it. These tamales are everything. Fully cooked, moist, and the masa and meat are packed with flavor in every bite. Their salsa is on another level. It's nothing like restaurant or taco stand salsa it's like your abuela is back there in the kitchen making it from scratch. It's real homestyle, made with love, just the way it should be, The tortillas here are pure perfection warm, soft, and made fresh like they came straight out of abuela's kitchen. They're so good you could eat them plain and still feel like you're having a full meal. These tortillas have the perfect texture to hold anything you put in them, whether it's juicy carne asada or just a little butter. They taste homemade, authentic, and take the whole meal to another level. Hands down, some of the best tortillas I've ever had! let me tell you about the carne asada meal. That meat was juicy, tender, and had that perfect charred taste that makes carne asada hit different. And the rice and beans? Flllllaaaavvvooour! I'm telling you, somebody's abuela is in there running the show for real. It tastes so authentic, like you're sitting in grandma's living room, novelas on the TV, while your tío who still lives at home is getting yelled at. It's not just amazing food; it's nostalgic. If you haven't had their tamales, you're playing yourself. I know how to cook tamales and people love mine, but even I'm trying to get mine to taste like these. They're straight perfection. This place is the truth, best tortillas, food and tamales in Fresno hands down.

This New Yorker in California I do love my tacos out here hasn't found the go to spot in Central Valley until now. El Toro is an old school restaurant in Fresno area. The parking lot is very tight and limited on a busy street. There was no line only 1 person ahead of me to order. The menus are located throughout the establishment in large and small print. I ordered the family combo #3. The prices are on point for Fresno. The corn tortillas are fresh and delicious with every bite. They offer different options. Tip you have to place a regular large tamale order in advance. The staff informed me I do love my tamales too. I got the sweet corn they had available. Chick out the photos. I highly recommend you take time out of your day like I did. Go check out El Toro Tortilleria absolutely delicious.

My husband's coworkers kept telling him about how good this place was. So we finally decided to try it out. Parking is a little scarce so you might have to park in the neighborhood and walk. Upon entering I realized this is a store as well selling other Mexican goods. We chose to try out their asada tacos, asada burrito and beef tamales. Their tacos are made with homemade tortillas and are delicious with lots of meat and cilantro. To be honest it was so filling I only needed one taco lol. Which is saying a lot because I usually eat way more. The burrito was huge and had to be split. The tamales are decent. My suggestion if you're coming here is bring your appetite because everything is yummy.

My wife and I went in for dinner last night. What incredible food. Tacos were delicious with beans and rice. . We also had guacamole with pick de gallo on top with fresh chips. Fresh and plentiful. Carne asada, pollo , lengua, carnitas, we tried to get a full sample. OMG. . It was soooooooooo good. The owner David was there and treated us like family. It was one of the best dinners we have had in a while

The food at El Toro Tortilleria is delicious! I picked up dinner for the first time yesterday and I'm so glad I finally did. They are on busy Tulare street with limited street parking. The cross street is Barton which is a one way here. el Toro has a small parking lot but it can be tricky getting in and during busy times, it gets very full with people parking a little haphazardly - just a warning so you're aware of the situation. When you enter, there is a sign indicating to order to the far right. I almost missed it and went to the register. At the ordering counter, they take your order and put it together in front of you and then it gets delivered to the cash register. If you're ordering meats by the pound, you'll be asked if you want it chopped or in whole pieces (if you're making tacos or burritos with it, you want it chopped). At the register you can get drinks, chips, pan dulce and chicharrones by the pound. This visit I got the family combo #1: one pound of asada (beef), a pint of refried beans, rice, salsa (red or green which you choose at the register) and a dozen corn tortillas - which she got fresh from the production line! I cannot stress how warm and delicious those tortillas were. I also got a pound of carnitas because how could I not? I also wanted to get chile rellenos and tamales but I held off but I will soon!Everything was delicious except the rice was just good. I don't normally care for asada because it tends to be dry and blah but this was smoky and tender and well seasoned. The total for all of the food I got was $38 and we had leftovers (three adults). As you can imagine, I will be back soon.
