WE GOT ROBBED!!They charged us for a totally different amount of what we paid. We had reservation for Saturday 01/11/2025 at 630pm. It's our first time dining here. We were excited and anxious to see what the fuss was about as this is one of Modesto finer restaurant. We arrived on time and ordered the calamari, yellowfin tuna, bread service and the Bone in rib eye to share. We immediately sat down and ordered the two apps and our drinks. About 5-10 mins later we ordered the ribeye. Was asked if we have any other engagements since it will take a bit longer to cook since it was a 50oz bone in steak. We were ok with that. Our apps came out within 15-20 mins. We finished it and waited about another 20 mins so we ordered the bread and butter. It was for 4 rolls and butter that cost $12. So about 7:20 pm we asked our waitress how's our steak doing and she went to check and she came back and said the chef just took if off the heat and letting it sit, maybe 15 more mins she said. Anyhow our steak came out and had some pieces and packed the rest to go. Everything at this time was great beside the wait for our steak. It was about 1.5 to get our steak. So the bill came and it was a total of $385 with tax and tip we included the TIP. We paid and left. The food was good but it was a bit pricey. But was expected. So this morning, Tuesday 01/14/2025 I checked my account and the charged was $445.XX. It was a $60 overcharged. It was not a pending charge. It was posted. SO THE WAITRESS took it to herself to charge our card a totally different amount. I AM SHOCK this happened. They stole from us. This has to be illegal. Will be calling when the open today.

I'm incredibly disappointed and saddened by the lack of compassion I experienced at Dewz. I had been looking forward to celebrating the holidays with friends there, but I had to cancel my reservation just 4 hours in advance because of an unexpected medical emergency involving my ailing mother-in-law. When I called to explain the situation, I was met with a curt response: "Rules are rules." Despite my circumstances, they still charged me a $100 fee.During the holidays--a time that's supposed to be about kindness and understanding--this response felt especially disheartening. Life happens, and I canceled as soon as I was made aware of my mother-in-law's diagnosis. A little compassion could have gone a long way. Instead, I'm left feeling like this restaurant values their policies more than their patrons.

5-Stars! Our favorite fine-dining restaurant in the Central Valley! We eat out around 3-4 times a week at various restaurants and discovered DEWZ a couple of months ago. What a find. You'll love the doting service, you'll appreciate the restaurant's ambiance, and even the server's sense of humor and knowledge about the menu. Ask them for their recommendations too. They'll mkae the perfect selection for you if it's your maiden voyage. We began with an appetizer of calimari. It was lightly battered and exquisite. Truly the best I've ever eaten. I then had Duck Three Ways and was amazingly impressed. Our friends had filet mignon and were pleasantly suprised at the quality and cut. Portions were adequate. Salad were an extra menu item and that was a little disappointing. $20-$30 entree's. Lunches, $5 less. Reasonable with a wonderful menu and outstanding service.Overall experience was 5/5. Couldn't have asked for more.Bon appetite!

Wow, what a great experience! I had made reservations for a birthday dinner on a Friday night. I was a little nervous not knowing what to expect since it was my first time dinning at Dewz. For food, we ordered a Brie and two pasta dishes along with drinks. The Brie was simply amazing. I loved the combo with the strawberry puree and the pistachios. It had a creamy, sweet but crunchy taste to it. The pastas were good as well. Mine had a chili oil base to it whereas my bf had a beef broth to it. The drinks had the right amount of alcohol but not overly sweet either. Service was good too. Water was always constantly served and our waitress would explain everything that was in our dishes including options for desserts. One thing that caught me off guard is they will fold your napkin for you if you were to leave it sorta in a balled up status if you go use the bathroom. Def fancy fancy The interior has an intimate atmosphere to it with its dim lighting and dark furniture coloring. Good option to take someone for a special occasion, or maybe first date (if you want to give a great impression lol). This place is pricey so expect to spend somewhere near the 3 digits to 4 digits amount. My one take away is for what you are paying for, I kinda wished they gave a little complementary birthday cake. Even if it's bite sized. Overall, I would definitely come back again, only on a special occasion though.

Dewz is a great place to have dinner while in Modesto. You would think there were not a lot of great places to dine in such a small town, but there is, and this is one.We got there a tad early and had no wait at all. The place is very pretty and it is kept in great shape. Even the bathrooms are nice. They have a full bar and a small wine list, which is nice. Make a reservation for weekends. The service is here is great. You are seated and someone is right with you. They check on you, but you are never rushed, and your food comes as ordered and hot.We love all their items. I love their simple salad, it is just a great way to start dinner. Their starter calamari is great with spicy marinara aioli lemon wedges. We also love their pork belly with Korean BBQ steamed bun cucumber jalapeno cilantro daikon-carrots, it is just great. I hate having to pay for bread and their bread is $12.00, to thank I say no thank you. Also, baked brie is also great, but very filling. It has strawberry preserve pickled strawberries pistachio walnut thyme blackberry and balsamic toasted focaccia bread--now I have bread. We love all their steaks, but especially their Prime tomahawk, pan roasted and served with seasonal vegetables, all sauces and your choice of starch. It is huge. The price depends on the size and what the market price is, You will love it. Get it rare. The prices are up there, but reasonable considering what all you get and the wonderful service.Have a great time.

Came here to celebrate the SO's birthday and had a nice evening with lots of food at Dewz! Located off J Street and 15th (next to the Tru-Fitness Gym), Dewz Restaurant was one of my bookmarked restaurants to go to for fancy dinner, and they were legit! Curious, I learned that Dewz is named after the original owner's brother who passed away from leukemia (RIP). I made reservations through Yelp about a week prior and this restaurant in particular does require credit card information to confirm the reservation since they do charge a $ amount if you cancel 24 hours before. The inside is definitely intimate - dim lighting, maroon fabric walls lined against washed out brick and floor to ceiling mirrors gave the illusion of a larger space. Classic instrumental versions of modern day hits softly play (we caught a classicized Black n Yellow and What Was I Made For during our visit lol).We ordered: Dreamsicle cocktail - very cool presentation with the vaped-up bubble encasing the drink, and very fun to pop. It tasted just like an Orange Dream Machine from Jamba Juice. Super sweet and perfect for someone who doesn't really enjoy the taste of alcohol (me). Baked peach brie - tasted just like a breakfast parfait! Also came with super buttery focaccia 43 oz bone-in ribeye at Market Price of $256, we decided to top it with a blue cheese and bacon crust for an extra $5. Although I didn't really detect blue cheese, I liked the seasoned breadcrumbs that gave the meat a more herby flavor (didn't really need the horseradish, Calabrian chimichurri, or mushroom sauces that were included). The meat also came with veggies and our choice of side; we went with the miso-bacon mac and cheese. I can definitely taste the miso, super creamy and satisfying. Side of loaded thick-cut fries - probably my favorite side dish, the fries were more like Lincoln logs-thick and kept their crispiness even when drenched in cheese sauce and sprinkled with baconKind of disappointed that they do not do comped birthday desserts - not to sound entitled - just an fyi for any future patrons looking to celebrate with something like that. Heather waited on us throughout the night and she was amazing - our water cups were never empty and she explained everything on the menu. She was even kind to inform us that our main entrée usually takes an hour to prep (!!). We timed it ourselves and found that our steak and sides came approx. 1.5 hour after order placement. So make sure you account for that if you have other plans after dinner (no movies for us to catch, fortunately!)Overall, a really nice dinner for a special occasion. Definitely budget for this!

Went for a wine pairing dinner and to secretly celebrate my wife's B-day. I say secretly because we did not announce it to our server or table.Upon arrival the host opens the door and greets you right away. Also when you leave, they open the door for you too. Service is AMAZING! From entering the restaurant and to the very end, they're great!Every pairing was flawless! 1. Heirloom tomatoe Caprese burrata with honey and white balsamic glaze2. Lobster tail with Peach gastrique fennel & apple foam was an experience on its own and had my taste buds erupting. I want to return just for this dish.3. Followed by a breaded baked Brie blackberry bacon agrodolce thyme hazelnut pickled mustard seed...yes there's no comas because that's how it tasted!4. Then a full 6 oz Zabuton cooked to absolute medium rare perfection!5. Finished with a Chocolate mouse with cocoa nibs and olive oil...light fluffy and the olive oil really brought out the cocoa Throughout the dinner the wait staff truly creates the experience by cleaning the table very often and checking up on you. Although we didn't announce it was a celebration for my wife's Bday the staff over heard it and brought out an additional birthday fruit desert dish with a candle to help make the evening unforgettable. One of the best experiences!

My wife a friend of hers and I went to dewz several months ago and had an AMAZING experience. The complete opposite was the case for our last visit. We went this past weekend, My wife and I got their early thinking we would have a drink and an appetizer while we waited for our table. On our arrival, the bar area was completely filled with dirty plates and glasses So rather than sit at the bar, we grabbed a small table in the bar area, where we were completely ignored for 25 minutes. The finally cleaned the bar so we sat down and ordered a drink. Thinking that our table would be ready soon, we didn't order anything to eat. Our table was ready near our reservation time and we were led to our seats where we waited probably close to 15 maybe 20 minutes for them to order our appetizers and another drinks. After ordering our drinks we waited close to another 15 minutes for them to arrive. We ordered the bone in rib-eye, which we were told would take some time to prepare, we were okay with that. It was probably 45 minutes when our meal finally arrived, the bone in ribeye, which they charge, I believe 245.00 for was ranged from rare to literally raw. Our reservation time was 8:15 it was close to 10pm by time we finally got our food, and it was raw (we ordered it medium)Now, in their defense, the server offered to take it back and have it cooked up, but by this time we were frustrated and aggravated and wanted to leave. Again, to their credit, the did reduce our for part off the cost of the steak but our night was ruined. Like most people we work a lot of long hours and we were really excited about having a fun date night at a restaurant we had an amazing experience at just a few months about. Instead, we had slow service, and raw food. I know they were busy, but that's no excuse for poor service. I don't think we will go back
