Commonwealth Turlock

The folks at Commonwealth were so accommodating of our youth soccer team! We came at 10 am right when they opened with our big group and they were so efficient in their service, the food was delicious, and the vibe was so good! If we're ever back in Turlock for soccer, we're coming back to Commonwealth.

Now I remember why I don't go here. It was 50 degrees outside when I arrived to meet a friend. concrete floors. High ceilings. Aesthetics are good. However, when you are so cold and feel like you're in an icebox... not fun. I had to switch my plan from beer to a red wine so I didn't have to hold a cold glass of beer. I told the gal at the front how cold it was and after hearing how they aren't cold... she turned around and told the guy wearing shorts to turn it up 1 degree. yes. Just 1 degree. Um... seriously. I asked her to look around and not one person had their coat off. That's a sign we are all cold. I don't know about all of you, but I like to be cozy and take my coat off and relax when I go out. My salad was marginal. my friend had the pork tacos and 1 chicken. He said they were fine. On another note... I had to leave a tab open to order my wine before my friend got there. I told her we would be eating as well. My friend ended up putting it on his card. But here we are 2 days later and I have a $1 pending on my card. I called Commonwealth and she said it automatically charges your card $1 and it should get reversed in 48 hours. Now, I know it's only $1, but, this never happens anywhere else. If you go to a bar and "keep it open" I have never been charged $1 on top of a bill to keep tab open. Have you?? It's my dollar, not yours to keep for 48 -72 hours! lol. Won't be back unless it's warmer out ...I may try. But customers were saying it's really hot in there in summer. So that's a hard no for me. Don't say I didn't warn you.

Service is combative and unacceptable. They argue with you and continue to tell the customer they can't place an order. We were told we could order lunch at 2pm. We waited until 2:10 and were still told we couldn't place our order. We asked if we could get fires while we waited as we saw most customers had fries. Again told no. When I showed a look of frustration, manager walked up to me with an aggressive tone, "WHAT!?" Threw her hands up and lunged at me. She continued to argue with my husband and when he told her I'm tired of your excuses she continued to lay into him. He asked her to end the conversation three times before she finally walked away. I witnessed them giving special treatment to the customers who bought them alcohol. There's no reason for the manager to be rude and aggressively attack as if she was ready to fight. You should never make your customers feel as if you're going to beat them up. If you want them to give any kind of service you better get them drunk as that's the only reason they provide service. Every single review you read about the terrible service BELIEVE IT!!

My only suggestion: N/A beers I really love this spot! The food is always on point, they have an awesome selection of beers, the staff is always wonderful, and the ambiance is just right. It's a real treat to have Pliny The Elder served in the central valley. It's not even easy to find Pliny in the bay area!One of my favorite things to do, on a nice day in town, is treat myself to the Commonwealth Cobb salad, a pint of Pliny, and on the patio where I scope the downtown scene. All their burgers and fried foods are great as well, but it's really the salads that keep me coming back. Great addition to downtown!

I am moving my rating up to 5 stars. Food has drastically improved since they opened. Always have at least three quality dark beers on rotation!Their Sunday brunch menu is very reasonably priced.

We brought family from out of town here today to have brunch. It was about 11:15am and wanted to make sure we sat inside as it was already close to 90° out... my husband started to fan himself with the menu and then I started getting warm. I looked over at a table of women who had already received their meals and they were also fanning themselves. My son walked over to Memo's and promptly returned to let us know the AC was on high there. I was disappointed to say the least but it probably saved us from having way too many beers on a hot day. I'm not sure who is running this establishment but please... do not skimp on the AC when we are in triple weather conditions... some of us spend more money when we are cool and happy... just ask Memo's...

Meh...beer list was pretty good. Lots of variety, but much less than what their website says. The guy who worked there, not sure of his name, dark hair with bleach in it, maybe he was having a bad day. Not rude, but seemed annoyed. The lady was super nice and helpful. We got in line and grabbed menus. The guy at the register asked if we were ready, we weren't so I asked if we could sit down. He said we could and said it was open seating. Maybe I misunderstood, but I asked if we could sit and have our order taken. I thought he said yes. We sat down and waited for about 15 minutes. Nobody came, so we went back to the register and ordered. This is fine, but maybe have a sign that explains this. I watched as other people sat down like us and waited for service. My wife and I both got burgers with garlic fries. The fries were pretty good. The burgers weren't bad, but we didn't get to choose how we wanted them cooked. They came out well done and were dry. Took a while for them to come out, too. It was after lunch hour, but it looked like they had two wait staff and unknown how many in the kitchen. I'm not sure if we will try it again

I'm a regular at this place usually only come in for drinks but from time to time I like to get food but unfortunately they can never get that part right. I always order chicken and waffles and every time something is missing once my chicken was missing. Although the food doesn't hit the service is amazing everyone who works in the front does a great job at cleaning the area and making sure we have everything we need. This picture was our most recent experience with the food.

The bacon classic was delicious. The bacon is thick cut and cooked perfectly. Love the ranch and garlic fries as well.!!! Definitely recommend:)

Unfortunately I didn't get a picture of any of our food, but I had the craft tacos and my dad had a burger. We really enjoyed the space and the food. It was decently busy for a Friday evening. The service was pretty good.
