Stopped by for lunch in outdoor patio. Burgers were all they offered. Ok, no problem. While waiting inspectors showed up with clipboards. I walked into kitchen and saw at least 5 types of law enforcement, county cars, forestry, sheriff, probation and more. A roundup was in play. Lunch wasn't going to arrive.Went to lakeshore for a GREAT lunch.

Have tent camped here with my kids 4x and 1 time in a cabin 3 years ago. This place is beautiful, but has been badly neglected. Our last visit was in June 2019 and the place was in bad disrepair. Tent cottage frames were literally mangled and most picnic tables were unusable. We were the only tent campers at the time and we took the one spot that was in usable shape. When rain flooded our tent, a very nice man really went the extra mile to help us. We're actually planning to stay again soon, but only with our tent. That's really all this place is good for, though bringing a camper or tent trailer could work. If you want a quiet, peaceful place and don't need more than a working bathroom, which is all one gets at state parks, it's a good choice. If you want a full-service experience, better go elsewhere.

My dad and I took a trip up to Huntington lake. We lodged elsewhere but decided to eat here since it is the only place up there open 7 days a week for all 3 meals. The entire experience was bizarre and unsettling, without a single redeeming moment. My father had to go inside to request service. The owner was yelling at his employees when he went in and "seemed like a real piece of work". It took a while for our waitress to come out and take our orders. She seemed anxious, paranoid, and yet tired. My dad ordered the 8 ounce fillet mignon wrapped in bacon. I ordered the chicken kabobs sauteed in lemon juice with seasoning. We got our food in maybe 15minutes. Parts of mine had clearly been dropped on the floor and there was no hint of lemon in its flavoring. Parts of my father's steak were raw, there was no bacon to be found, the steak was half the promised size and it was clear they had pulled the meat directly out of the freezer to cook. We felt really bad for these ppl and had planned not to say anything, though the waitress reminded me of a meth addict and I wanted to leave. We walked through a cloud of the employee's cigarette smoke to enter the building and get our checks. We went in to pay our check and the owner struck up a conversation with us. It only got weirder from there. With bugged out eyes he told us that he sometimes went around scaring ppls children at camp sites to teach them how to scare bears. He delusionally claims to be park employee instead of a guy running a leased business there in a national park. On the rare occasions I made comments or asked polite questions; he talked over me. He then decided to talk politics. He told us about how he hoped that with the next president we got would bring power back to the ppl instead of keeping it in the hands of the few. I told him I thought that that wouldn't be possible with the electoral college still in place (a political opinion which tends to be pretty neutral). He told me he thought that EVERYTHING the founding fathers did and wrote was completely fair, especially the constitution. At which point I had to ask him if the outlined continuation of slavery in the constitution was fair. Now rather than conceding that not everything the founding fathers did was perfect, he proceeded to polish the turd and defend slavery by saying it was black people's fault. At which point I had just had it, told him I didn't have to listen to him, and left. He yelled at me all the way out the door telling me how he was better than me. Do you like spending time around the mentally unstable? Do you like strangers coming up and scaring your children? Do you like your meat undercooked and dropped on the floor? Do you like cigarette smoke? Do you defend slavery as a hobby? Well then this THE place for you. For those of you who want food that meets safety standards, untraumatized children, clean air, and sane people I seriously recommend you go someplace else - I wish I had.

There's a difference between rustic and broken down. This place is a dirty, disorganized, broken down dump. As others have stated, the water is a huge issue. We had to shut ours off outside because the shower leaked constantly. Even with the water on, there wasn't enough pressure to fill the tank in the toilet. We spoke with another camper who was in a 5th wheel with full hook-ups but he said the 30 amp electrical hook-up is unreliable. I haven't had a chance to count the dogs yet, but there are several roaming around barking. As my dad put it, it looks like a place from a movie where the main character inherits property from who they thought was a rich uncle, only to show up and find a dump and they need their friends to rally and get it profitable before the condo company buys it up and ruins the charm. Except without the charm.

Let's just say this place is a dump. Their web page is totally misleading. Upon arrival, the step to the office we're in disrepair, the lady who greeted us stank of booze and when we asked for a key, we were handed a padlock.Once we found our cabin, the deck was falling apart, the boards were rotted and the chicken wire surrounding the deck was cut up and rusted. We opened the door and it almost fell off the hinges and the smell was putrid. The carpet was stained and the beds were nasty looking. The kitchen was filthy, the pots, pans and dishes were greasy and stank. The sink was filled with dirt and bugs and the stove was covered with nasty, crusted left over food. The bathroom had mold, there was used in toilet paper on the floor and holes in the ceiling. There were also rat droppings everywhere. The living room/bedroom also had holes in the ceiling, and exposed wires. We drove 4 hours and ended up having to find another place to stay and we're refused a refund. Please don't make the same mistake we made by chosing this place.

I grew up going to Cedar Crest, with family. I haven't been in about 15 years. Decided to drive up with my husband yesterday, to check out which sites we'd like to book. The road into the campsites, was awful, but I still had high hopes and wonderful memories. As we passed the broken down store/restaurant, I was truly sad. A few rv's were crowded around the bathroom/shower area. The campground was falling apart and not at all welcoming. We used to love this place. Now, it looks like a dirt parking lot with none of the former charm, it used to have. I truly hope, it will be restored, and our family can make memories at this once beautiful place. Cedar Crest used to be the very best campground at Huntington. Now we've decided that the primitive, no hookups, cleaner, campgrounds are a more safe choice for our children, and property.

Cedar Crest is the most mature camp in the universe. There are no rules, you can do whatever you want. That requires adults to interact with one another to solve any disagreements that comes up during communal recreational living arrangements. Everything everyone else wrote about the place is correct. It is not well kept. But I'll return because it has the most critical element to any American-- freedom.

I was going to write a review, however after reading everything already listed...not much to add except that I have been spending vacations in Sierra cabins all my life. This place is without doubt the worst I have ever seen, with the poorest customer service/ relations I have ever seen. Only one star because it wouldn't let me post with none.

This place should be condemned. The cabins are horrifying. Our reserved cabin had been allegedly given to someone else so they were trying to get another one ready for us. Clean to them meant floors were disgusting, water was running, water in toilet was yellow. Ceiling? Ewww. Beds. OMG. We turned around and drive 2 hours home rather than stay there. I wish I had seen the yelp photos. I would not have even tried. I didn't take any more photos, but these are all accurate.
