Came here specifically looking for chicharrones. I ended up leaving with bags of groceries! When you get there, walk to the back of the store and TAKE A NUMBER.I didn't know this and ended up standing around for a minute before someone super nice told me.It is very busy, but, don't let it deter you. They move fast and it's worth it.1 - their pollos asados are hella bomb2 - their chicharrones are highly recommended3- I got their ready made tomatillo salsa (green one) and it was legit4- the prices for the arrachera are the lowest I've seen5- their chorizo is made in house and it's delicious

The people that work here especially in the carnecería are always rude! In a bad mood. Also, they do not get along with the ladies at the register. They have funk with each other and it's very clear. Honestly, their marinate is what makes their arranchera meat (& their chicken taste bomb) - but they put way too much to spike up that price. The meat alone is nothing special. The market, beer & other items in the store are way way over priced & sometimes expired. But they know they can get away with people paying those prices because they don't want to make 2 stops. The store is so tiny too and cramped! It's like a bunch of sardines in a can!BEWARE!!!! If you ask them to marinate your meat they will marinate the shit out of it! The price went from being $26.34 to $33.73 ($7.39 difference for 2.36 pounds of meat) The marinate juice was drenched in the bag (I think they double marinate it). We only got 2.36 pounds - Let's say you get 6 pounds of meat with an estimate of an additional $6 to $15 additional for that marinate. Let's say they do this to about 8-10 customers a day? $$$$ = for the owner. So, the arrancherra meat price is low yes - that's if you don't marinate it! (That's the catch) but without the marinate the meat is alright! (Sometimes it good sometimes it's chewy/tough). I don't think people notice they are overpaying for that marinate weight (not the actual meat weight). (They will weigh your meat - once marinated they will reweigh it. That's when you'll notice the price difference). Sometimes they are quick out it too! Over the years this place has turned into a money hungry cesspool. It use to have great prices, great customer service, the food was all on point. I think because it continues to feed off that reputation and over the years people became accustomed to this place they continue to come back to it and continue to "rave" about it. Also they lure you with the chicken smell on the weekends - but they 1. Never have enough chickens for the demand so they make you wait 2. They will sometimes rush to cook the chicken so it's slightly burnt or undercooked - so they really smell better than they taste. Also - you can't buy cheese, Mexican cream or salsa by the pound. They have all that prepackaged you have to buy the full quantity they sell you. Other markets sell you the amount you actually need which is much nicer and convenient. They use to cover the hot meats and make sure the flies wouldn't be all over it. Now the flies move in and chill in the hot food section. The hot food doesn't taste as fresh the chicharrones were so gross and hella greasy - the chicharron with the meat on it; we bite into it and grease gushed out of it. So gross! The carnitas were a combination of greasy / dry.Gilroy has a bomb spot for carnitas and carne. Good prices too (cheaper, yeah cheaper than Los Banos go figure). We stop there before heading home sometimes instead of coming here now. In town we go somewhere else for meat - where it's fresh and when it's marinated the price difference is literally about 20grams ($1-$2 difference not $6-$7).Watch the scale the next time you go.

I stopped by this place on my way home from a So Cal trip. I was enticed by the smell of fresh grilled meat from the bbq grills up front, and the line that extended from the counter at the back of the store to the front register. This place is legit and walking in feels like you're in another country. It's part grocery store, part bbq deli. The cooked food and butcher area are both in the back and there's only one line. When you walk in, you grab a number (or wait in line to grab a number) and place your order when your number is called. Staff speak Spanish first (and move quick), so be prepared if you don't speak Spanish.I ordered a chicken quesadilla. The meat was tender and flavorful and the cheese added a nice rich flavor. In general, a little too greasy for my usual diet, but if that's your thing then the quesadilla is a good choice. Next time I would try their birria tacos or grilled bbq. You can also buy their uncooked meat to grill at home.

Love this place, BEST BURRITOS IN LOS BANOS. This is a Carniceria and they have meat, groceries, fresh vegetables, beer, etc. They sell party trays and all types of Mexican food. I love their food. Take a number and tell them what you want and then eat and enjoy.

Oh man this is officially my pit stop when passing through Los Banos. The chicharrones were delicious (I had never had them with meat attached to the crispy rinds), and they also heated up well at home in a toaster oven. They had a special on birria when I was there so I opted for a birria burrito and it was ginormous. My husband's super burrito was even larger - afterwards he admitted he could've been less greedy and gone for a regular size also. The store was packed with locals when we went, so we knew we had found a good place. Since we were on the road, we appreciated their outdoor patio and the fact that they had a restroom (for customers only). I can't wait to drop in again and get more delicious food, especially those chicharrones!

A few months ago, my husband came home from taking our kids to get haircuts and he says "so the guys where talking in there and they said that I should try La Michoacana". Well it's not as if he needed anymore encouragement or convincing because every time we pass there, someone is out there grilling and we always say we need to try it one day. So one day we walk in, I think it was a Wednesday and order a carne asada burrito to share. We were thankful we only bought one because the thing was so heavy. Then we go to cut it in half and like a volcano waiting to erupt, all of this mexican food goodness began falling out. The carne was well prepared and seasoned, not tough at all. All of the ingredients was fresh and just overall yummy. We've been back a few other's time to take our kids. Burritos always come out awesome. Yesterday we stopped in to pick up a couple lbs of their carnitas and some rice for dinner. We knew from the other times we had been in, to come early because on the weekends they get hit hard and you want to get yours. We also picked up a container of their in-house made guacamole. Picked up some produce to make my own pico de gallo and we were home bound. We had carnitas tacos, rice and I made some shrimp ceviche. Dinner was muy yum! There is ample parking. You can eat at any of their tables outside next to the bbq pit but let me warn you, the place is tiny. The food is served and kept in the back of this little grocery store along with the fresh meats and as soon as you get back there PULL A NUMBER, don't stand around waiting your turn..lol! If you are going for lunch I'd suggest you be there by 11 so that you miss the rush and believe me there is ALWAYS a rush. If you decide you want to pick up some food for dinner on the weekends, I suggest you pick up your food around 3 so you aren't disappointed when they run out. This place is quite the inconspicuous diamond in the rough. Everyone from the back to the front cashiers are helpful and expeditious, they get you in and out as fast as possible without feeling like you're missing out on anything. Happy Mexican Food Eating Yelpers!

Meat market and a restaurant inside. We like to stop here on our way Monterrey because they have huge burritos to fill us up on the road. I recommend the Chile Verde Burrito (I ordered it with rice, beans, and cilantro). My husband got the Carne Asada but he preferred my burrito better.

Initially, I was drawn here because of the giant BBQ operation going on out front. I ordered a burrito here and I can't say I was impressed. They definitely are going for quantity over quality; very large burrito. The burrito was literally dripping with a reddish grease that permanently stained my pants. As other reviewers noted, the meat was also lacking flavor and texture. I ordered Carne Asada and I received some sort of cheap beef that fell apart as I was eating it. It was similar to the texture of corned beef but way more oily. The burrito leaked all sort of grease and sauces. The burrito was also poorly assembled. I found a small amount of guacamole and crema, I guess, at the bottom of the burrito. I did not find the salsa to be delicious either. They also only gave me one salsa for an entire monster burrito. I'm almost glad though because the salsa lacked flavor. I would give it a 1/10 for the salsa alone; the red one.The burrito price isn't terrible. Around $8 for the monster size. But poor quality. I would be willing to pay the same price for a smaller burrito with better ingredients and better assembly. But perhaps I am too spoiled by La Taqueria in the Mission district of San Francisco. If you want a burrito good enough to make you shed a tear, go there. I'll have to admit, I only finished half the burrito from this place. It was too large, not very tasty, and I didn't want to clog my arteries with whatever oil it was flooded with. However, it gets a star because the facilities looked fairly clean, and the ingredients didn't look old or expired, just not very tasty.

The service was fast. Picked up some chicken and it was pretty good especially for the price. The system they use grab a number and wait to get called went by fast. Will be coming here more often
