Capital Donuts

Second weekend in a row the wifey and I wanted these awesome donuts. Owner said he's going to start making filled danish type stuff soon and showed us the glass case he has already purchased.

Always fresh donuts ready at this donut shop. Selection is usually limited, but I mean a donut is a donut and you shouldn't be picky when they are great donuts!!! The Parking lot is shared with 4 other businesses and lots of drifters roaming the parking lot, but they never seem to bother much. They got enough seating for about 6 people in the place so it's a bit cozy and tight. Friendly workers makes this one of my favorite places to go for donuts!!!!

12/05/23 Well my son in law went last week because he heard I loves apple fritters and we heard they were very good here and he saw a sign on the door Under New OwnershipWell he got the Bakers dozen (13) to where I went before and it was standard practice but the notation on the box stated Special Promotion December 2023. Anyways he got me a fritter although it was tasty it was rather small compared to fritters I've had from the south end of Fresno. It was a good fritter just not a great one. Most of the donuts appeared to be less sweet as what I've purchased before. That may be due to the new ownership cutting corners. Doesn't seem to be what past customers raved about. Ahhh times are a changing or changed already. Support your local small businesses But buyer beware - $15 + for the dozenJus Sayin

This place has really cleaned up since the new owner and the donuts are very fresh and tasty. And a great place to get a cup of coffee! We love coming here they come right out and take care of you, service is great.

Excellent service and the donuts are always fresh, when ever we are on that side of town we always stop and get a dozen. We have a couple of places to get donuts, but this place always has fresh donuts.

Tasty, well-made donuts and welcoming owners. I've only stopped in here a couple times when I couldn't get to my regular donut shop and have never been disappointed. I tend to grade shops based on their apple fritters, and this place will definitely have me coming back. Highly recommended if you're looking for simple, classic, and very good donuts.

Clean and safe donut shop. Pretty small. They don't have the biggest selection, but the donuts all look fresh and delicious! I picked the cinnamon roll donut. Looks big and tasty! ;)~The worker was very kind at checkout. Good service and donut! Recommended!

In a super run down area but the donuts are rather tasty. 2 donuts and a large dudu was only $4. Lots of dangerous homeless you might have to fight to get food lol.

TL;DR good all around, I will be back. Stopped in for a Saturday morning treat. They are small but had it all. Coffee, milk, and juice to drink. I skipped that though and went straight for the case. The dough on my jelly filled was fluffy, not greasy. The icing was balanced and not overwhelmingly sweet. Raspberry jelly was tart and added the pop it is supposed to give. The service came with a smile and was quick.

Don't be fooled by the humble exterior, Capitol Doughnuts is amazing! I'm not a huge fan of Krispy Kreme (yeah, I said it!) and wanted some variety in my doughnuts, so I decided to check out Capitol Doughnuts and I was super impressed! They have a *huge* selection of doughnuts and pastries - everything from cake donuts (my favorite), to crullers/fritters, croissants, and filled donuts. They also have two huge refrigerated cases of milk/juice/coffee. Personally, I'm a cake donuts gal ONLY, and I was super happy to see they had a variety to choose from. The chocolate cake donut was amazing and actually tasted like chocolate.My huge box of donuts cost me $13, so you can't beat the price. Bonus points that they take cards (including American Express). They have a $4 card purchase minimum. Parking out front was easy to get on a Friday morning!Overall, super happy with Capitol Donuts and I'm sure I'll be back next time I'm in Fresno.
