California Market Buffet

My parents would rave about this buffet before the pandemic so we decided to try it out and it was really disappointing. The food was super bland and Prime Rib was cold. They went back and checked the temperature and according to the server it was hot but it was cold by the time I sat down... Service was good and people are friendly it's just the food that was disappointing unfortunately. I should had red flags going off when I saw that it was basically empty. That's my bad.

We pass Chukchansi Casino on a regular basis, and we noticed some time ago that they had reopened the buffet style restaurant, calling it California Market Buffet. We used to kind of like the previous buffet, so we thought we'd stop and try it.The new offering is half the size of the old, but otherwise vey similar in ambiance. The service used to be pretty good, and that, too, is the same now.What's a little different is the food. There are several stations to choose from, but frankly most of them are not terribly appetizing. The salad station consisted of the type you'll find at your local pizza restaurant. Speaking of pizza, the Italian food station was several tepid pizzas and some damp pasta with bottled sauces. The fried chicken was a little tough, but the carving station looked like it might be OK. We didn't try that this trip. Even the desert station was just average, and some of the deserts were a little stale. The exception to the rule is the Mongolian Barbecue station! The vegetables were crisp and fresh, the sauces were interesting and tasty, and the amount of meat provided was very generous. You load your plate, they add your meat of choice, and then cook it all while you watch! It's fun, and tasty, and worth the trip all by itself! We'll go back, and this station is the reason why!

I remember enjoying this buffet before the pandemic, so we decided to go for Sunday brunch. It was a letdown.Nothing was great, and many items just seemed old and dry. The Mongolian grill I had made was so oily that I couldn't eat it.The staff did a great job refilling drinks and clearing plate, and the salad bar was good, but I just don't see us returning.

The menu should of gave it away that I wasn't going to be good, but to be charging $32 per person is wild. The food was mediocre. The orange chicken was soggy, no crunchiness to it. The chow mein noodles were the only thing that was good. The rice was mid. The penne Alfredo some of it was soggy some of it was al dente, the flavor was there tho, creamy and buttery. The cheesecake was bitter, did not have that creamy semi sweet flavor. Even $22 on the weekdays would not have me coming back. Not even for their tri tip Also I been to most buffets and it's better to have self serve soda fountain so you're not waiting for the staff to bring it to you, which leaves room for them to focus on other things

Not sure why, but whenever I come here, I feel like their food is not hot. It lacks flavors as well. Not the best, but not the worst buffet I have ever had. Would I come here every month? No. Once a quarter? Not really. I did come on a Friday night, so they did serve prime rib (which did not taste or look like prime rib) and seafood (shrimp, crab legs, and oysters). We do like the servers and there are plenty of seats. The lines are not too long when you go at a certain time. Just make sure you have a players card to enjoy the discount.

Came here on New Year's Eve for dinner at the buffet; I was impressed that they stepped up their game, and the food tasted a lot better and fresher. Our server Maria did an excellent job taking care of us; she was so kind and attentive throughout the night. Their prime rib & tri tip was so good; they're both flavorful and soft and tender. Their price for New Year's Eve was very reasonable, and they didn't mark up the price or require a VIP invitation to attend like other establishments. Snow crab legs were included too. Thank you, Chuckchansi management, for the huge improvement. I look forward to coming here again; I hope the consistency and quality gets better and better.

Not sure what the fuss is about, but we enjoyed our dinner on a busy July 4th weekend. Came on a Friday night for crabs and prime rib. About $35 pp with member card and $39 for non-members. Prime rib was honestly cooked well. Seafood was fresh. It is what I expect from a buffet. Plenty of choices for everyone, and our server Michael was really attentive and refilled our beverages multiple times. I know that they have just recently opened, but I applaud the establishment.

Went on a Saturday night and it was pretty awful. Everything was cold and nothing had flavor. The snow crab legs were still thawing and the crab meat inside was definitely not fresh - soggy/stringy when pulled from shell. My plate filled with water from the crab.The prime rib was cold, grey and fatty with no flavor. The clam chowder was decent, and warm unlike the rest of the food. The Pepsi was flat.The waitress who was assigned to my table was nice.She informed me the front desk does not give her the tips customers leave when paying up front.Note: I tipped $10 when I purchased the $34.99 Saturday dinner buffet on my card at the entrance desk. My waitress later informed me that they (the actual service staff) don't get those tips.

The food was good (nothing spectacular) the service was great. The only thing bad was the air quality. Getting to the buffet, having to walk through the casino itself was not good for either of us. My wife has asthma and really had a hard time. If we didn't have to go through the casino we would be happy to return. But as for now...we won't be back.

Most complete casino buffet open everyday. The other casinos are open random days and over rated. They got food from different varieties Mexican, Italian and Asian.
