MinEarl Bier of Cabinetry Design provided the cabinets for our remodeled kitchen. I do not think it would be possible to be happier with the cabinets and their design and functionality. Earl's reasonable pricing and quality are more than we could have asked for. We now have a truly custom kitchen. We worked closely with Earl and listened to his suggestions as well as he listened to ours. All of our cabinets and drawers are soft/auto closing which is a very nice feature. Earl suggested we go with pots and pan drawers which I would recommend for anyone. No more getting on your hands and knees to get that pot out of the back and you can see everything you have in the cabinet. THEY ARE WONDERFUL!!!Earl's brother Kevin Bier of KMB Const did the reconstruction of the kitchen and installation of cabinets.Earl's pricing, quality and selection will not leave you wondering if you used the right cabinet supplier. If I could add a picture I would. That would say it all...

Hired by the homeowners to assist in kitchen design & cabinetry ..... BIG MISTAKE!First they said it would take 3 days to complete installation , we have been on hold for over 3 weeks because they used a Labor Ready crew to move the new cabinets in to kitchen and they dropped one in the driveway destroying the particle laminated cabinet box. They had a few other issues to resolve in regards to quality of work and finish , we had to really stay on them to try and get this job completed in timely manor. We are now experiencing yet another delay because Earl neglected to re-order a cabinet that didn't fit because Kevin was going to "modify" it to fit, well that didn't work so we are now on hold for another week at least , can't finish granite tops or the tile backsplash, electrical , ect.... So we walked the job with Earl yesterday , showed how and what needed to be fixed and or changed to what the customers had requested ( missing soft close hinges, hinges covers that were laying everywhere , damaged shelving ..) he became very angry and defensive with me questioning his lack of integrity. Just know what you might be getting into before you buy from them...

The designer Deanna was the only reason we went this this company for our recent remodel. We saw CDC at the Fresno home show & the owner Earl Bier & his wife, were very aloof. Not sure why they were there, it certainly seemed like they weren't interested in new business. We walked away thinking, wow, stay away from these guys. Behind their booth was another cabinetry booth & a very friendly woman we struck up a conversation with. She was approachable, informative and we walked away with her card. Turns out it was the same company. A bit put off after meeting the owners, nevertheless I ended up calling Deanna and we met to discuss our kitchen remodel. We worked up a nice design, not too different from the current set up, but fresh and a better use of space. We also re-did a small laundry room off the kitchen. Here is where the review goes south. Deanna recommended using her bosses brother, Kevin owner of KMB Co, as the contractor. I looked him up, didn't see anything to be concerned about & figured, since he does the majority of their work, and CDC highly recommends him, he's probably a good choice. Could not have been MORE WRONG! So, Aug 27 contracts are signed. Deposit time. CDC advertises accepting credit cards but they will try any excuse not to take them. Earl's card reader is frequently broken or not in attendance. I wanted the rewards from my card, but except for the deposit in which I had to force the issue, I wrote a check for everything else. Several weeks passed & I'd heard nothing from the contractor regarding the demo. I called, he'd been sick but would come out & get started asap. Next day, I got a call that the cabinets are in & heading my way. WAIT! I don't have any place to put them since my kitchen is still intact. CDC does not store products, so you had better be ready for them or you will be renting storage. Fortunately, they all just fit in our garage. But we had no room to maneuver & everything from my house that I had planned to store in the garage and use for a makeshift kitchen ended up stacked on the back patio or crammed into closets. This was October 8th. Demo started 6 days later.First day of installation was Nov 5. I came home to 2 cabinets out of the box. One had door damage and smeared blood on it. They are white. I ended up having to get 1/2 of the doors and drawers replaced under the warranty because of nicks & dings. I'm sure Crystal Cabinets must have questioned the number of replacements for one small job & I was worried because it was so obviously sloppy handling. Deanna came out and inspected them, took pics and they did get replaced. However, I was discouraged from replacing a lower cabinet that had a pretty good nick in it, I was told contractor could make it look fine. Not true. And no discount offered to keep it. So once the upper cabinets were in, there was a big gap where I used to have a blind cabinet. Just a big square opening underneath in the corner where the upper cabinets meet at a 90 degree angle, probably 14" by 14". Also the cabinets with doors were unfinished underneath but the cabinets without doors were finished. They are white. It looked ridiculous and the hole was insane. Can you imagine the gross stuff that would lurk up there? CDC told me that I did not order high end cabinets, this is how they come. Really? I ordered what was recommended. I did not get to see a full sample cabinet, just a brochure, a website & a small door. No one mentioned the big gaps or the unmatched undersides. And then the tile guys made a terrible mess on the unfinished part that I could not get off. I ended up getting something called "skins" to give the cabinets a finished look. I will say CDC did not charge me for them, although I expected & offered to pay. At that point, I'd spent so much I was not going to haggle. There were smaller similar gaps where the cabinets met the walls in both the kitchen & laundry. I was told it's a style issue. Whatever. Do people really think these gaps are ok? I got the skins & the contractor brother did a horrible job installing them. The trim was split & crooked, mitered corners didn't match up & there were gaps where the trim met the cabinets. My dog could have done a better installation. CDC ordered new ones and I paid someone else to install them. In the end, the cabinet quality is fine for what my budget was but I'm extremely unhappy about the installation and the compromises I made. Contractor damaged an upper cabinet after everything was installed, at that point I felt I had no choice but to let him patch it. It was Dec 24th & I'd had enough. I had to vacuum all of the debris out of drawers, cabinet boxes & install the shelving myself. There were so many more installation issues I can't list them all. Since CDC urges you to use the owner's brother, they should stand behind his work. A friend used Home Depot, had a much better more, transparent experience & Kraftmaid quality is = to or better than Crystal Current.

Earl is unreliable and unprofessional. I asked him for a quote, and followed up a few times, no words. He was not planning to give me a quote, but kept lying that he will. It's not that hard to say no, if he thought the job was too small to take in. Just be honest so people like us don't waste our time.

Earl spearheaded our kitchen remodel, and did a great job with the front end of the job. He is charismatic and sold me on his design aesthetic. But he over-promised and under-delivered at every step of the execution. We had several "must-haves," including that the cabinets be primarily wood, have dovetail joints, look high-end, have a pop-up mixer stand, and have the "soft-close" feature. During the sales process, I was specifically told that what he sold us hit our criterion. He showed me pictures and small wood samples, but didn't have the exact cabinet in the store. Based on those samples and his word we went forward. But the cabinets are not near expectation, and in many ways are contrary to the specifics we outlined in our "must-haves." The cabinets arrived and his brother installed them. Only after the cabinets were installed did we find out that they are neither soft close nor primarily wood. And the pop-up stand? I had to call and call and call to get it installed. When it was installed, it was very cheap materials (the wood used is an unfinished plywood like you would buy at home depot, not a butcher block as we originally discussed). All of the upper cabinets have unfinished bottoms, so that you can see what looks like particle-board underneath. We could've gotten a higher-end look from off-the-shelf materials. In the end, we have a kitchen that is not what we ordered and in many ways exactly what we said we did not want. Unfortunately, the installation was no better. There are visible nail holes in the baseboards, left uncovered. There are visible screws in the doors of the cabinets, left uncovered. There are shims (pieces of unfinished wood) jammed underneath bottom cabinets, left exposed. Duck under the cabinets to pull out the toaster, and you'll see writing in Sharpie, left exposed and unfinished. Even the design, in the end, is flawed. The cabinet doors hit each other, scuff, and leave black marks. To mitigate this, he installed exterior sticky plastic nodules on the face of the cabinets. Also, Earl tried to come up with a "fix" for the soft-close. After calling him multiple times, I have texts and emails showing that he knew that these cabinets did not have the features we requested, so he offered to put in a piece of hardware that would make the hinges operate as a soft close. But, again, he over-promised. Instead of an addition on the hinge, he had his brother install these large gray stoppers in the middle of every cabinet, so that instead of a clean interior line, the center of each cabinet has two big gray rods that stick out. It looks industrial and awful. And it looks like a "fix." But can we take them out? No. Because now there are two big holes in the center of each cabinet. Yes, I'm detail oriented. But these are details that I clearly communicated to Earl at the outset were important for this job. [Note: we've told Earl the above complaints, and none of these things has he made right.] At bottom, we paid high-end, custom prices, but got a low-end product, poorly installed.
