"What a beautiful place to dine, very country like, clean, and festively decorated for the holidays.When we came in, I had the feeling that nobody wanted to serve us, however, to find out that the server was on break. For that I'm not going to give in less than five stars because right after that the pace was picked up. Immediately we ordered drinks, and my wife ordered a dirty martini vodka and she says that it was the best she ever had. And my wife knows her drinks as she sleeps with an open bar next her side of the bed.We order the lobster crab cake appetizer, my impressions were, that's it? We were served two lobster cakes and a bunch of lettuce. However, they still get a five star because they were very good especially the remola sauce. The salad was well prepared and I got a very tiny cup of delicious mushroom soup. A tiny cup I said, but it was the best mushroom soup I ever had. Finally, it all made sense why everything was so small portions because when I order the seafood pasta it was a humongous serving. A meal for two and it was out of this world. My wife had the garlic marinated steak medallions. Her dish looked amazing as well. We finished it with the hot molten lava chocolate cake and after 65 years that was the best freaking dessert. Everything deserves a five star regardless of the minor slow start in service. Look forward to coming back soon"

We scored on the $20 off $100 gift card holiday promotion and were able to apply to our take out order (gift card must be purchased in person to receive $20 off but order can be placed over the phone ). "The aroma when you walk in is to die for! I ordered food to go and waited about 15 mins which isn't bad . I tried to order ahead while driving there but they needed my card number before placing the order in which is understandable however I was driving and couldn't get my card out. So just FYI if ordering ahead you need to give them your card information. I ordered 1 pound shrimp , 1 pound mussels in allsome sauce medium spicy , 2 garlic noodles , 2 rice, add ons : sausages, corn and potatoes all of which came out to $75 The garlic noodles were the best I have ever had and honestly 1 order can serve like 2 or 3 people My suggestion is to order the shrimp whole !! We've been regulars of Max's for years and this is one of my favorite restaurants. The atmosphere is nice and service is usually excellent. They display Tomas paintings throughout the restaurant giving it a very unique art gallery feel. My go to orders are the Max's burger, salmon salad, Chinese chicken salad and grilled cheese sandwich which comes with soup and salad. They also have a Bahn Mi sandwich that is delicious and daily specials.

Seated and served by an amazing young man Matthew Dugovi. Matthew was friendly and willing to share information about the lake area. Service was excellent. We sat at a table near the window overlooking Bass Lake and the surrounding mountains. We had a Ruben sandwich and French fries with garlic aioli sauce for dipping that was delicious. Highly recommended. Let's not forget the full bar but we just had a couple of beers from the taps. Located in a beautiful lodge hotel.

The absolute best fish and chips in the world, the tartar sauce changed my life. Good beer, good food, good vibes.My only qualm: the bartender called a Michelada a "poor man's Bloody Mary". I thought that was uncalled for. It's completely different, regional to Mexico and adored by many. Not a poor man's drink.I literally drove 45 mins for some fish and chips. So, do go.

Among the most popular restaurants and arguably some of the best Mexican food in town. Always a fan favorite for brunch, Castillo's has been around since 1955, and legions of loyal patrons have been coming here for years. They are famous for their good variety of delicious and authentic Mexican dishes, reasonable prices, and prompt service. It has garnered numerous local awards and great reviews. Some of their guests have been coming back for decades.The long lines, particularly during lunch hours and the weekend, are a testament to the good food and service. While the lines get long, the general wait time is usually under 25 minutes.The three most recommended dishes are steak fajitas, chile verde, and menudo, available on the weekends. Complimentary chips and salsa come with every order.I have tried the shrimp fajitas, menudo (small bowl), chicken burrito, and the taco and enchilada plate (#2 - combination). The two best dishes were the menudo and chicken burrito. The tripe used in the menudo was very tender and tasted clean. The red chili pepper broth was rich and soothing. Diced onions, cilantro, oregano, and lime wedges are served with the soup to season it, in addition to some flour tortillas. The shredded chicken I ordered as a burrito and enchilada was delicious and perfectly cooked: tender, plump, and juicy. I liked the authenticity of the shrimp fajitas dish and the robust flavors. The shrimp was well seasoned, plump, and juicy. The crispy, sweet taste of the sizzling hot bell peppers and onions - served on a hot cast-iron skillet with either piping hot flour or corn tortillas, and beans and rice on the side - combine to make this visually and aural appealing and aromatic dish dimensions of flavors, colors, and textures despite the simplicity of the main ingredients.The hard-shelled tacos and enchiladas are a no-brainer for first-time guests or those deciding what to order. Whether you choose ground beef, shredded beef, or shredded chicken as a taco filling, it is guaranteed to be well-seasoned, juicy, and go great with a crunchy corn tortilla shell. The enchilada was spot-on: packed with meat inside, and covered with melted cheese and zesty, tomatoey, mole sauce. The soft corn enchilada shell was not soggy nor fell apart right away. The service is also as good as advertised. You are warmly greeted as soon as you walk in the door. A server comes by once you are seated to take your order or ask what you like to drink with your meal. The attentive servers will come by to ask if you are enjoying your meal and beverages are replenished. This is definitely a well established brunch restaurant. Full brunch menu from Crab eggs Benedict, Crab salad, delicious burger and this shrimp salad. This is a must try restaurant once your try if definitely be going back. Sherry is awesome friendly bartender, Autumn the server keeps the place running smoothly and always has a smile.

Great food, service and portion sizes! Kids eat free on Tuesdays, so works out great for reduced price movie and dinner with the kids if your are in to that. My favorite is the sweet and sour chicken, my daughter loves the orange chicken. Definitely recommend!

We came on a Saturday for a late lunch . This restaurant gets packed so come earlier if you are coming for dinner. We wanted to try some of everything so we ordered king crab legs , whole shrimp, crawfish (medium spicy ) , oysters (raw), clams( extra spicy ) and the 10 piece of wings with wet lemon pepper sauce . The food takes awhile to come out, more than 15 minutes but it was worth it because the food was so tasty !!!! The crawfish tasted super fresh and didn't have any of that muddy taste that I don't like . The clams were huge !!! I was expecting the smaller clams but they served the larger clams here which were super meaty and delicious. The lemon pepper wings here were one of the most delicious wings I have ever tried , they add some of there own seasoning and it's so so good . They are generous with the sauce and I took some of the sauce home! This is one of my fave restaurants down here !

We were a party of 12, it was a Saturday night so it was busy. Our waiter hustled. Not sure if they were short on bartenders, but the drink service was bad! Took forever, even in the not crowded bar we visited after dinner for a night cap! I think I'd be willing to try it again. The side salad I got with my chicken sandwich was pretty basic. Literally chopped iceberg lettuce. Hubby said his steak and baked potato are better at home and half the price!"

"We had our Christmas ever dinner here - party of 11 with 4 kids. Our reservation was at 5:30 so there weren't too many people there when we arrived which meant the room with our table was nice a quiet. Once people started coming in however, the room was extremely loud with made it difficult to converse with others at our own table. The noise aside, I do have to say I would give this restaurant five stars solely based on the food taste and quality. Everything we had was really delicious. This is actually what actually made me give three stars and nothing less.If I was rating this place on the service alone, I would rate one star. In my opinion, the service was severely lacking for the amount of money one has to dole out for even one dish, let alone 11. We were greeted ok, but once we were seated, it really went downhill. Our waitress seemed like she didn't want to be there and when she was at our table, she would get an order/request from one or two people then disappear for what seemed like forever. She would come back and do the same thing. This happened throughout the night. I assumed she was busy and let it go until I asked her for extra cherries for my son's Shirley Temple - she seemed to have sighed and made a face that I just couldn't let slide. This was the end of it for me. When a table pays upwards of $1,000 for a dinner, you would expect top notch service. Her attitude was totally unacceptable. I read previous reviews after the fact that were similar to my experience which makes me believe the management/owners really don't mind that their waitstaff treat their customers this way. For this reason, I don't think I'll be back. There are many other options in town that do offer a great overall experience that would appreciate your hard earned cash."

"Amazing. This place is pretty much half restaurant, half market. The pros of the grocery section; 1. A lot of imported delicacies and dry goods. They have everything from fresh fish to Japanese Oreo tasting cookies (a fav of mine), to Japaness imported Fanta and Monster, to meats. Also love their imported curry rice in the mylar pouch. 2. Pretty decent selection of domestic beers and IPAs - they got Tioga-Sequoia beers, Modelo, etc3. Not just Asian oriented groceries, they have a lot of Creole and Mexican stuff as well. Great selection of seasonings. The restaurant portion; In my opinion, the true winner here. Service; 1. Lauren at the front end is always super friendly. 2. As is, the woman I presume to be the restaurant manager. I asked her and the gentleman working tonight to pack my teriyaki bowl really well as I had a 2 hour drive home. They understood the assignment, 6 hours later it was still warm! Those two deserve a raise!The prepped food; 1. Their beef teriyaki bowl is a must try. With broccoli, it's even better! 2. Their Basa fish and salad meal is a close second. I'm not a huge fan of most fish, but their preparation and frying of it is great. Paired with some tartar sauce makes for an excellent filling meal on the cheap. 3. Their salmon nuggets. Absolute perfection, order fries with it; thank me later.All in all, a hidden gem and a new favorite of mine."

A classic, clean English-style fish and chips.The fried oysters, prawns, and hushpuppies are all delicious. The scallops might be the best thing on their menu. Along with the fish, the scallops are always on my list of things to order whenever I am here.Some of the side dishes and appetizers I have enjoyed here include the following: Prawns, oysters, calamari strips, clam strips, fries, hushpuppies, and coleslaw.The prices are very reasonable as well. They use cod caught in Alaska, so the filet is tasty and huge. One piece of fish comes with fries (hence the fish and chips) for only $5.25.
