Butterfish

WOW! I love Butterfish. Please expand your locations ! I tried it for the first time a few months ago, and it instantly became one of my favorite places to eat. I don't live in the area, so I was really disappointed to learn there are only a few locations. The staff is excellent, the food is beyond amazing, and the location is great. I just wish there were more of them! BRING IT TO THE BAY AREA

Order a large bowl and sriracha shrimp appetizer... received the bowl, but no shrimp was delivered. It was sweet potato fries instead. The fries were horrible and the whole reason we ordered there was because of the sriracha shrimp. Unbelievable!!! BTW, the sweet potato fries were awful, while the shrimp is the best thing on menu.

I love this place. Best poke in town. The people that review saying that the portion sizes are small are literal big backs. One bowl is more than enough whether it's regular or large. I've tried the Tokyo fries and I like them as well. They have a lot of sauce so if you're not into saucy or even soggy fries just ask for the sauce on the side. This place is organized so the line can move fast if people know what they are ordering, otherwise you're going to wait a long time if someone is ordering 3 custom bowls for their first time. The inside is spacious when dining in and it's quiet. I like to go here during my lunch breaks :)

My last review was from five years ago and it's great to see that nothing has changed! It's still a very clean restaurant, super friendly workers, and insanely fresh food. I went with one of their signature bowls, the Rising Sun. This bowl is massive and filled with seared ahi, sushi rice, crispy wontons, miso vinaigrette, jalapeño, shaved snap peas, green onions, cilantro, spicy mayo drizzle, chili mandarins, sesame seeds, macadamia nuts, tempura crumbles. I had them take off the chili mandarins and wontons; added avocado. Like I said the portions here are huge and this bowl was no different. The ahi offering was hearty and all of the "fixings" were top notch. I love that even though I ordered a signature bowl I can still add as many extra toppings as I wanted. If I had one small complaint, I could have used a tad more sauce in my bowl. They now offer curbside and pickup orders and even have a walk up window that helps you avoid the line inside. Yeah for efficient and tasty food!

Butterfish is normally my favorite poke place in general, but this time, it was disappointing sadly. I'll start out with the good points! I got a regular size which came with 3 scoops of protein and it was $12.75 which was a very fair price! I also love that Butterfish doesn't charge extra for certain toppings that other poke spots might, such as seaweed salad and avocado. The service is always great, and I love the ambiance! This time, the poke was disappointing, because I got avocado, and it was inconsistent. Some slices were perfectly ripe and others were still hard. Another ding would be the rice consistency. I felt that it was on the dry side and some of it was clumpy. I'd still recommend this spot for anyone visiting or that lives in the area!

I ordered a small bowl with salmon, ahi and spicy ahi which was very fresh and tasty. The toppings were standard, nothing special. The 3 star rating is solely based on the preparation-way too much topping sauce. I got the creamy sesame which had no flavor - too much mayo. I even asked for light drizzle.

I like this place, their portions are slightly small but still very delicious. I like that u can make ur own bowl and customize it.

I appreciate the larger menu options available now. Still clean with lots of seating. Nice staff and great location.

My girl LOVES this place. I often surprise her by picking a bowl up for her on the way home. Definitely scores me brownie points
