Be Aware. Builders Concrete (aka National Cement) routinely sends a notice to file a Mechanics Lien against ANY homeowner using their product. What that means to the homeowner is a lien can be placed against the title of your home, preventing you from selling or refinancing until Builders Concrete has been paid. I know this because it happened to me. I contracted with a licensed concrete contractor to pour a new patio at my home. He secured the concrete from Builders Concrete. Three days after the concrete was poured, I paid the contractor in full and my check cleared the bank soon after. Two weeks later I was served by certified mail with the Preliminary Notice from Builders Concrete to file a lien against my property. Phone calls to Builders Concrete merely advised me that it was their right to file the Lien despite my having promptly paid the contractor in full. The lien insured that Builders Concrete would be paid either by the homeowner, me, or the contractor. I am not an attorney, but it would seem to me that since I paid my contractor in full prior to receiving their notice, Builders Concrete's remedy for being paid lies with the contract they have with the contractor, not me. I will never, ever again use any product supplied by Builders Concrete or their parent company, National Cement, and if anyone asks for my opinion of the company, I will relate my experience as stated above.

Ordered 5 yards of concrete delivered for a patio. The driver carries 3 shoots and refused to put all of them on insisting a wheel barrow be used. The load was hot and started to cure to an unworkable state after only 20 minutes. Keep in mine it was only 80 degrees outside and the patio was covered so the concrete was in the shade. This patio (which was by the way being finished by someone with 35 + years of experience) was less than satisfactory due to a bad batch of concrete. Builders refused to acknowledge or compensate. Save yourself the heartache of a ugly patio and use someone else.
