Freddy’s Chophouse

This place just opened a block from our home so we decided to have our anniversary dinner there last week. We watched the last few places not last long in this location but I believe this is exactly what Gaslamp needs for the ones that live down here. Affordable, yummy steakhouse with great vibes. Everything was delicious from the bread, cocktails to entrees and sides. Highly recommend and will be repeat customers!

Ordered the ribeye, creamed corn, chopped steak fries, and bacon cheese fries with the salma (spicy mango margarita), hey cutie (mandarin cosmo), and the swiftie (lavender lemon drop). The food and service were amazing! I was so surprised by the affordable prices, especially considering the restaurant's proximity to Petco Park. The indoor space had a cozy ambience and is an Art Deco Lover's dream. I'm from the Orange County area but this is my new go-to spot when I'm in SD!

We made reservations for 10pm on a Saturday, walked up early and there was 0 hesitation to get us seated the host was friendly and really personable cool dude. Our waitress was prompt and detailed with the food we were interested in, food came out fast and piping hot.... Environment was 10/10, atmosphere is amazing will definitely be visiting again.

What a fun vibe! We loved the decor of the restaurant. Music was millennial hip hop which was right up our alley. All the servers were fun and so helpful with suggestions. Our glasses were never empty. We got the Chophouse bread appetizer - life changing. Sticky soft Hawaiian rolls with a really delicious glaze that included mikes hot honey. My dinner was the Chophouse chicken and a loaded baked potato. I really loved the potato and the mushrooms with the chicken. The texture of my chicken was a bit odd. Nothing too bas, just not as juicy as I like. All in all, a nice place with decent prices.

Just visited this week, probably the best restaurant in this class I've ever been to. Every item we tried was great and very reasonably priced. Flavors were robust and on point, ambiance and service were great as well.Chophouse Bread-Hawaiian rolls that are churched up, but they were great.14oz Rib Eye-cooked perfectly, a little tough but unless you're going to a high end steak house, there's some hit or miss on tenderness, so no disappointment on my part. Mushrooms-these were awesome, it's almost like sautéed mushrooms in a French onion soup. Caesar Salad-dressing was really good, great ratio. House made croutons were delicious, tons of flavor.Coconut Shrimp-Big prawns, not overcooked and a great value.Burrata- Good mix of flavors with the burrata and pesto. Bread was tasty as well.Skirt Steak- Cooked well, this was the only "off" item for me with e chimichurri. It looked like dived inions and peppers, no sign of any herbs. It wasn't bad, but don't expect a traditional chimi.Buffalo Chicken Strips-They weren't as described as they were covered in aa buffalo seasoning, not a sauce, but still really good and probably preferred by the person that ordered it.I have a feeling prices will increase, which is fine, but how far they increase will determine if the bang is worth the buck. But at this point, a stellar deal for great food.

Obsessed. New favorite spot in San Diego. Let's start with the amazingly warm welcome we got from the owner. Just great hospitality all around. It was also cool to hear that Freddy's is family run and named after the father. The drinks are delicious - tried the mandarin cosmo, espresso martini and strawberry mule - all very well crafted and fresh, these are not your cheap ingredient cocktails despite being $10 on happy hour. The burrata was so insanely good! Delicious salty slices of bread with a plate full of perfect burrata, tomatoes and glaze that you will literally want to lick clean. We came here for happy hour before the Padres game and I kid you not we came back after the game for a second plate of burrata. Highly recommend Freddy's, can't wait to try more of their menu next time!

**Look no further, this is your next date night!!**Freddys is everything restaurants are lacking. Flavor, ambiance, and price melt perfectly together here.First the service is top tier. We were seated right away, and the manager decided to move us to the elevated section with a great view of the restaurant, and a good wide window to people watch. Music was modern and set the perfect vibe.We started with the happy hour menu since we walked in at 5:50. We had the following:-Chophouse bread: warm fresh, covered in butter and a sugar or honey addition. Delicious!!-The Burrata Salad- Must have!! Fresh tomato's, mozzarella, basil and other flavors combine to the most flavorful salad. -Pork Belly Toast- delicious balance of bread, mushroom, and pork belly. Delicious!!Main course:The skirt steak was cooked perfectly (recommend medium because of the cut). With ChimiChuri.... Delicious!!!The Ribeye steak was cooked to perfection. Medium rare and came out with the perfect grilled crust, cooked to perfection! Had the sautéed Mushrooms. All flavors combined perfectly!!Pair both steaks with the house Red. What a truly beautiful place with absolutely gorgeous decor! Alan was an exceptional host, making us feel so welcome with his warm and friendly demeanor both nights we visited. His hospitality was top-notch.The drinks were incredibly reasonably priced, and the music was absolutely off the charts, creating the perfect atmosphere. Lauren, our sweet and attentive server, added to the wonderful experience with her delightful service.We had such a beautiful time, enjoying every moment of our evenings there. This place is a true gem!

Love the ambiance and music choice here! We ordered so much food, forgot to even take any of the photos because of how much we enjoyed our experience. The bread, chicken tenders, chicken wings, top sirloin was all amazing.Service was attentive. We came here on a Wednesday evening at 6-8pm. I'd say the bar was full of people and tables were almost taken closer to 730-8! It's a "mood" here - ideal for date night or group of friends. Would definitely be back!

Wonderful! Food and service were great. And the espresso martini was delicious. Will definitely go back when we're back in San Diego again.
