Frank's Place Family Dining

Great foodGreat atmosphereA must to understand the area that has been a military town for decades.

We were staying at a nearby motel. Got up too late for the motel breakfast, so we wandered across the parking lot to Frank's. Very military decor with lots of memorabilia. Kind of a treat to look at all of that stuff. However, the food was horrific. My girlfriend wanted some coffee and was given a cup and a spoon and was pointed at a jar of instant coffee. In all my life I have never seen a restaurant serve instant coffee, nor direct a customer to make it themselves. That should have been our cue to get up and leave, but we decided to tough it out and stay for the food. (Big mistake). I ordered a couple of pancakes and some bacon. My girlfriend just wanted some hash browns and bacon. When the terminally confused waitress eventually brought our orders (after trying to get us to take some other poor soul's breakfast), we finally got a look at our food. My girlfriend took a tentative bite of her potatoes and declared them to be inedible. She thought they might have been some kind of instant potato concoction. After I was told to go find my own syrup (which was some off-brand discount item), I took a shot at my pancakes. I love a good pancake, however this wasn't it. They tasted like there was some kind of chemical in the batter mix. I thought it might be some kind of cleaning product, but the restaurant appearance didn't indicate that cleaning products were in use. Also, I usually don't need a knife to cut pancakes. At least the bacon had risen to the level of mediocre. Spending $30 for inedible food is not my idea of a good meal.

I had heard about this place from a friend so I decided to give it a try. You would think with how long I waited (over 30 minutes, not even busy) that my order would have at least been correct. I didn't order sausage links. Overpriced for the most bland food I have ever had. I usually have at least something good to say because I don't consider myself a "Karen" but I would have been better off going through the McDonald's drive thru.

Good American comfort food. You must know what to order. Waffles, pancakes, spam,bacon, chicken fried steak, biscuits and gravy. Cannot go wrong with those. Good strong coffee. Love the military vibe and decorations. Breakfast or lunch (burgers), cannot go wrong. Family run, Frank is a local treasure! Wait staff is friendly. Order at the counter. Decent amount of parking and easy access off hwy 20.Try it, you'll like it!!

Tired to come here twice first time open sign on and note on door saying they had to do volunteer fire duty. I get that and can support that. The next time we walk in they are open and waitress says no more customers at like 9am in the morning. So not impressed with this place but I also never tired the food. Good luck with this joint.

This place is a waste of money. Coffee is gross, Frank is rude, self-service (cheapest supplies possible) and food isn't even that good. Would have rather went to McDonald across the road. Don't bother

The food great and the menu is not your ordinary same ol' choices. Lots of different things to choose from. No complaints on that but... This place is a dive and it's filthy! Floors have food, crumbs, and a greasy film over it as if they haven't been cleaned in months! Windows are dirty, tables and chairs are old and not clean either with many have food scraps under them. The atmosphere is old and run down. On a good note, the food is great but makes me wonder how clean the kitchen is! They need to do a better job on cleaning up the place!

The food was not that good definitely not 44 dollar bill. Meat tasted funny in chicken fry. I couldn't even eat it. It's self serve except the actual cooking. Service was rude the owner. Just a crap joint. He does have a son the is on the spectrum that gave me a giggle. And a customer and her kiddo listening to crazy Daisy. Lol

Frank is a jerk who does not care about you or your service. He uses military decorations to entice you in, but that is for his benefit. I am a 100% disabled veteran, he treated horribly. The restaurant was dirty, and Frank was filthy too. I would not invite my enemies to eat at Franks.

I am so disappointed by this place. Years ago, my fiends and I stopped by here after running a Ragnar and had the best food and service.Unfortunately, that is all over now. We walk into the restaurant and everybody just stares at us. Finally, (I imagine it is Frank or at least the proprietor) grunts at us that the menu is on the wall and drinks in the cooler. We order, grab drinks out of the cooler and go and sit and wait for our food. I asked for a glass of water and I was told there is water in the cooler.Food comes out and it is a greasy, burnt mess. To add insult to injury, we were each charged $3 for a bottle of water.The waitresses were very sweet and kind but Frank is a rude man who should not be in the food business. The building was dirty and food disgusting. Save your money and go somewhere else.
