On a lovely high 50S and sunny Sunday, I decided to try a new ice cream place. Frankie & Jo's was highly rated, and I was excited to see how good their vegan ice cream is! The shop itself was very cute, and there were a few families in there eating and enjoying their ice cream. The person working was very efficient and friendly, and they quickly took my order. ManyOf the flavors sounded great, but I have an affinity for anything with activated charcoal, and I do love a salted caramel flavor, so I opted for that flavor and in a waffle cone. I got a mini scoop and all together the item cost slightly more than $10, which seems typical for Seattle ice cream. The ice cream tasted great! It did seem quite coconut forward, but the caramel taste was quite good. The ice cream itself was as creamy as expected and I personally would not have assumed it was vegan. I'll definitely be back to try some other flavors!

I came here with my coworkers. A mini came out to be $6 plus tax. A bit pricey for a mini scoop. It's more of a treat than a normal occurrence. I sampled the pickled blueberry, their seasonal flavor, which was really interesting but I didn't want a whole scoop of it. I ended up getting the chocolate tahini which was rich and creamy without being overly sweet. While I could tell it wasn't traditional ice cream made with dairy, the vegan ice cream was very close to it. Definitely hits the spot! The inside is cute, clean with a modern design. There's limited seating so not great for big groups.

Delicious vegan ice cream shop in Seattle! Was here for vacation and our friend took us to one of their favorites! Their flavors are so unique and I was lucky that the worker happily gave me so many samples to try. I ended up choosing the Salty Caramel Ash but the Brown Sugar Vanilla was a close runner up. I will say that it is a little pricey considering it is $8 for a small sized single scoop, so if I lived here I probably wouldn't frequent the shop too often, but still enjoyed it nonetheless.

I can go here everyday! This is my dream place. They have curated a beautiful menu of seasonal vegan handmade ice creams the flavors you get here, you can't get them anywhere. Everything is so unique and original about this place. And the taste here is so goooood. Best part, because one of my friend was sugar conscious they also had super mini cups. I love their salted caramel ash and dark cocoa. And ofcourse the staff is as sweet as their ice creams. The service is best part of the place. There are very few seats inside but you can always find place on outside benches.

Food: 3.5/5 | Service: 4/5 | Experience: 4/5This vegan ice cream spot has minimal seating inside / outside, but it seems like most folks stroll around after getting their ice cream. After getting to taste one flavor, we ordered the 3 scoop ice cream. The portion sizes are not large for the price point. I did feel like there was a bit of an aftertaste that I did not really enjoy with all of the flavors, but it did hit a sweet craving.

As I continue to live in Seattle I find myself taking people who visit to Frankie & Jo's, and I don't think I've ever had a bad reaction while doing so. F&J has locations in Ballard, University Village, and this one in Capitol Hill all serving vegan ice cream. We ordered the seasonal flight ($12) with strawberry milk, salty caramel ash, and their seasonal flavor Mexico morning. The salty caramel ash had big chunks of caramel, the Mexico morning was coffee-forward, and the strawberry milk was my favorite. On top of that, I really liked the waffle cone shatter on the bottom which added a nice texture to the flight. It's nice to be able to sample the flavors before committing to them. You really won't be able to tell that it's vegan because of how creamy it is, and you probably won't care because of how delicious it is. My friends who are vegan said it's "hands down the best vegan ice cream" and one of them "dreams about this place" (his words).

Very conflicted with Frankie and Jo's because the ice cream and cone were incredible. The price point...not so much.I visited in July and one of their monthly specials was a Strawberry Celebration Cake. It featured vanilla ice cream blended with strawberry cake and jam featuring local berries. I feared the worst, that this would be ridiculously sweet, but it was hard to pass up fresh and local strawberry jam. I was blown away by the ice cream. It wasn't overly sweet. It had a great balance of sweet, strawberry and vanilla flavors with a nice creamy texture. I opted to have this ice cream on a house made vanilla-maple waffle cone. The cone was pricey but so worth it. It was thicker than most waffle cones I've had. It felt more like an actual waffle and less like a cone. Frankie and Jo's is so good. Some of the best vegan ice cream I've had. Their emphasis on locally sourced ingredients and rotating small batch flavors are a plus. It isn't cheap. Twelve dollars for an ice cream scoop on a special made waffle cone is steep.

After being recommended by the locals to try this ice cream, I visited this place for the first time on a typical rainy Seattle night in 2018. Making decisions is hard. Trying a bunch of flavors without feeling judged makes it a little less difficult. I didn't realize the place was plant based until my 4th visit--explains why my lactose intolerant a** was able to remain calm. I visit this location a lot less now that I have one closer to me. I always put this on the list for any out of town friends. I tell them to start from the salted caramel ash and any of the chocolate flavors. I love the strawberry ones too. Beautiful interior, but it's not necessarily a sit-down place. Ice cream tastes better when you're taking a walk anyways.

Not your typical ice cream shop but that's all part of the experience. They offer monthly flavors that are always unique like Beet Strawberry or Guava Cake. The interior aesthetic is picture worthy in itself but be prepared, you might have to try a few before ordering.
