Our quest for great brunch spots took us last weekend to Flower Mound and Vieux Carre. The store is in the upscale Parker Square strip center on Cross Timbers Road. As you can see from posted pics here on Yelp the restaurant is classy with a brasserie ambiance and vibe. We elected to be seated in one of the very comfortable booths across from the attractive bar with its red, upholstered swivel stools. My wife opted for a glass of Pinot Grigio and I a Sazerac. The Sazarac was OK, but overpowered in this pour by the bitters (and I'm one who loves both Angostura and Peychaud bitters. I drink them both straight whenever I have a slightly queasy stomach and enjoy them straight). For starters we shared a bowl of French onion soup which on this chilly early winter morning was a comforting and savory start to our brunch meal. My wife went with the eggs Benedict and I decided to try the Oeufs en Cocotte, a dish I encountered here for the first time ever. The eggs Benedict, my wife reports, was excellent. Perfectly poached eggs, large slices of a tender and flavorful ham over a croissant-like puff pastry that had been split and grilled to perfection in butter on the flat top, topped with a nicely done Hollandaise sauce. Happily for me, she left a half of the butter grilled pastry. It was divine. Likewise the Oeufs en Cocotte, eggs poached in a shallot cream sauce, was heavenly. Cannot wait to enjoy this again! Perfectly cooked eggs in a flavorful, steaming hot, shallot and cream sauce. So good. Our server was perfectly attentive and very helpful, answering clearly our questions about the preparations of the dishes. So looking forward to our next visit.

Cutest decor inside. Feeling almost transported to a Chicago style vibe. The bartender was amazing as she catered to our curiosity and special drink requests. We LOVE escargot and they did a great presentation here. The chicken was simple and yummy with excellent smashed potatoes. The salad was huge and was very tasty. The chicken pasta was fabulous with just enough spice. The salmon was dry but the presentation was nice. Our waitress was great and the manager even circulated and was genuinely caring when he stopped by. It was a great dinner.

The owner of this establishment is a boss (if that), not a leader. Do better. The food was decent though. Overpriced. But not bad.

This was a really nice find in the faux city of Flower Mound north of Dallas. Excellent service and friendly staff complement a cozy sheik interior that emulates that of a french bistro. They have a most impressive cocktail menu which I highly encourage guests to explore. The signature original creations as well as the "prohibition " classics should appeal to the most picky of cocktail connoisseurs. If you're a whiskey fan, be sure to ask for the separate whiskey menu with prices. Very impressive. Food was satisfying. Appetizer of escargot was unique and easy to eat out of shell and plenty for two. My entree was the lemon roasted chicken. A bit of a miss on this one. Billed as a quarter chicken leg/thigh in the bone but served as a chicken breast. Unfortunately this was dried out and tough as one would expect. The bone-in dark meat is what's needed for this cooking method. I wouldn't get it again. There are plenty of other options that were appealing and I would come back to try those. My server Maggie was the highlight of my experience with only two days in the job. Well done!Recommend.

My wife and I dropped in on a Friday evening with the intention of sitting at the bar for a few drinks and snacking on a charcuterie board so we did not make reservations. Turns out they would not have been needed. As a quick note, they do not offer a happy hour on Fridays. I should have used the patrons rule of thumb on a restaurant. If a place is empty Friday at 6 PM then clearly something isn't quite right. To their credit the beer prices are just fine. $5 a beer; and their pecan old fashioned at $13 is decently priced and flavorful, though bordering on too much sweet flavor. Usually my wife won't have anything to do with my old fashioned drink but this night she said she actually liked it. Also to their credit the charcuterie board was good, though void of the liquid brie that my wife and I thought was unique. In its place were quality substitutes but for the most part just made it above average level vs a reason to come by. The star on the board I thought was the fig jam, and the candied walnuts were a great supporting cast. Cheeses and meats good as well. The disappointment of the evening was the beef Bourguignon, which I tend to think as a comfort plate on a cool evening. The plate came out lukewarm, an attempt was made at reheating, and that somewhat solved the temperature issue. However, it did not solve the tough and rubbery meat that I could barely swallow. Not helping matters was the very odd flavoring in it. We also had a side salad which was more edible but basic. The ranch dressing however was probably the most bland I've ever had. Those two dishes sealed a very friendly two-star rating. At an overall bill of $90 plus our $18 tip I would have a very hard time convincing myself to come back.I think they're missing the boat when it comes to happy hour; The people were quite friendly there and I think everyone loves a great place to have a drink at a decent price. But also when it comes to this place I've never understood their desire to present themselves as fine dining but then have French fries as a staple on many entrees. I think the place has lost its way and could use some direction before we give it another chance. Wish them luck...

Okay I've posted a few times about this place. I'm a fan. They have moved away from the original menu and the first time I've been in they have a country singer on a Friday night, I can't hate it. The food is still awesome. We did fondue to start. Main course of beef bourguinion and shrimp scampi, both were tasty as usual. Decent bottle of French wine at a reasonable price. They have the holiday cocktails, try the Ebenezer.
