I recently explored the area and decided to have brunch at Vickey Cafe. This charming cafe is tucked away in the shopping center right on W 7th, across from Tom Thumb grocery. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted warmly by the staff and was lucky to snag a seat at the bar, which made me feel like part of the action. The cafe offers delicious fresh-squeezed orange juice, although it costs $5 for an 8oz cup. Despite that, the quality makes it worth the price. The staff is incredibly nice, and the food is served fresh, hot, and buttery. The diner feel and hospitality of the place added to the overall enjoyable experience.I highly recommend trying the French toast and smoked cheddar grits. The French toast is huge, fluffy, and perfectly absorbs the butter and syrup without getting soggy. The smoked cheddar grits are savory, creamy, and simply unforgettable.Having recently moved to the area, I am excited to visit Vickey Cafe again and try more items on their menu.

This review is for the new 7th St location. The restaurant was a bit tricky to find, as it's tucked into a residential/shopping/business area off 7th Street and it looks like one may have to valet park. I live downtown, so I took the #2 bus which dropped me off across the street, so I can't attest to whether the parking is a hassle or not. The first thing I noticed is that there wasn't the classic bacon and eggs breakfast--2 eggs, a meat, and a bread. I asked about it, and the waitress said they have it but it's not shown on the menu. I asked for the price, and she said she would check. I saw her punching things into the register and she came back with the figure of $12. I asked if she had to enter the items ala carte, but she didn't give me a direct answer. I ordered 2 pancakes special with choice of meat and what was supposed to be 2 eggs. $11.50. The pancakes were delicious. The egg was okay but it seemed like just one egg. The sausage was one 3 inch very thin piece. Coffee was good and the waitress refilled my cup several times. Summary: I don't think I got a good value for the money paid. Portion sizes seemed to be for someone on a diet, with the exception of the pancakes. It was $20 with tip for breakfast. Will I go back? Possibly. I like the location since I'm using public transportation and I was able to walk back to my downtown condo. Perhaps I'll just order the pancakes next time.

This is a regular spot when in a pinch. Always great service in a small, cute diner. Melissa is out favorite service and is always on point with her fun attitude and prompt attention. Coffee is always great and OJ is fresh squeeze but this last visit there was a sign up due to the quality of oranges, it would not be fresh squeezed. Honestly, I appreciate that - they want to serve the best OJ and that says a lot about the business. Highly recommend the Bayou Eggs Benedict - Benny's are my fav but the flavors in this Cajun twist is awesome. They make them on jalapeno corn cakes and this makes them have that sweet and savory flavor that I love! Pancakes are always thick and fluffy but their French toast is so damn good. Made fresh with brioche bread - the thickets, most delicious French toast!

Vickery Cafe has been a pleasant surprise in the Cultural District. This has been my favorite restaurant to order a quick to-go meal. Their waffles are delicious and their monte cristo sandwich is a highlight. If you're looking for a breakfast spot, then give Vickery a try!

This a a tough one. After passing by here many, many times we finally stopped by for lunch with friends. Initially, I was skeptical as it didn't look very clean, but it's always packed, so we decided to give it a shot. Service was good and kinda snarky like any good diner should be. I had been craving a chicken fried steak, so I got that with mashed potatoes and green beans. EVERYTHING was really, really good. CSF was crunchy and tender with plenty of gravy and the GBs were like grandma would make. Hubby got a breakfast combo which he also liked. Bacon was really good. My initial ' not so clean' impression was nixed by the workers who diligently wiped surfaces. Now here's the bad.... About an hour after leaving, I got really nauseous. I hadn't had anything but coffee and a granola bar earlier so if it was food related, it was this food. I continued to feel bad the ready of the day/evening, but maybe I just ate too much cause I cleaned that plate! IDK??

What's going on??? I order online on your new website and an hour later I don't get any food or confirmation of my order although my credit card was charged. I called and talked to a girl who said I could get order and they'd comp it if I picked it up. I go to pick it up and they're closed down. It wasn't 15 minutes between my call and when I showed up. Have been scammed?

Has become my favorite breakfast place. Only issue was on Saturday their computer was down so they had to take orders the old fashion way, write it a pad ant give to cook. The whole wait staff was lost. Difficult for they to get the food and deliver to customer. Owner was trying to keep it going. Perfect view of how the moral dropped and they were listening over one negative thing. The customers suffered for this.
