I came by Tu-Chi this evening for an Arlington Black Chamber of Commerce meeting.I'd been to the space a few years ago when it was still Brickhouse Lounge, but since the pandemic it appears there's a new business with a new name and a facelift! The interior has been updated, with more plush seating and nicer decor. Still has a lounge vibe, with the full bar and associated menu. When I asked to see a menu the bartender said prices had been updated and she had it on her cell phone, which she handed me to make my selection. I ordered a 2-piece catfish with fries and a Sprite (from the well, not a bottle) and my total was $15. The catfish tasted great, and I appreciated my crinkle fries were seasoned, but the price was steep.Overall, a-okay experience. Solid venue with a beautiful update, but food/drink is on the pricey side.

Great atmosphere to listen to live music and dance the night away. The drinks and food was pretty decent and there was ample seating although reservations are strongly advised to guarantee yourself a spot to rest your feet!

At first, I wasn't going to post anything in an attempt to support a black owned business. Then I realized, the lack of service shouldn't be at my expense, that lessening my expectations is not supporting. When I visited Tu-Chi's for the first time, I decided reserve a booth for my birthday right then and then and there, it was 2 weeks away. The owner was on site, who had to take my name/number to pass it to the person who makes the reservations. She called a couple of days later to set the booking and tell me what to expect. The planner told me the misquoted booth fee would be honored (that the only plus to my story). She asked how many people were promised by the owner to enter without a charge (3 including myself). She mentioned I couldbring in small snack tray and a cake but would be expected to make food and drink purchases throughout the night. If we didn't, we might be asked to leave the bother so it could be resold to people who would be spending but that, that has never happened. I was told a bottle of champagne was included in the booking. In order to book the space, I had to use a third parties personal cash app to put down a deposit (how professional).Back to the owner: My feeling is that he should have been able to book the space right then and there. He told me I could bring appetizers in for my booth. Not full-on food but small bites. Also, the price for the booth was incorrect in my favor. I was going to be allowed 3 people including myself in my party with no cover charge. When I arrived the owner was at the door. Before even a hello, the cashier was quick to tell me there was no outside food allowed. The owner said "Oh, that came from me" meaning, I got the information that was ok to bring the snack tray from him. They offered to put my tray in their refrigerator. Then the cashier asked me for $10 cover charge after the owner confirmed my reservation. At least he spoke up for me when I mentioned that I reserved the space.A waitress came to take our drink order, she didn't bring all the drinks. I asked a carafe/ pitcher of water for the booth. We put in another order of drinks and asked for the menu and the water. Not all the drinks we're returned, no water. I drink tequila, they only had 2 types in stock, I know because I had to go to the bar to place my drink order. I asked for a double because it was already apparent the service was going to be a problem. The waitresses were switched out. One of my guests went to the bar to order food. Some way or another they lost her order, it took about 2 1/2 hours or so to get the food which she had to go back to the bar to pick up herself. Still no water. After a few more attempts to order drinks, the waitresses stopped coming, we never saw them again. We were only able to place one order of food. I never received the champagne and they charged all my guests the cover charge not honoring the 2 waived guest charges.I was doing everything in my power to not complain. My camp of folks was trying to make/get things right for my birthday. From what I could see, all of the tables/booths we filled. I could tell the large group next to us were not happy either. I know things are tough for businesses everywhere but even the basic things were so wrong during my visit.I wish for you all to succeed but unless ya'll make sure serious changes....
