Outside is... eh...

The best salsas ever. So good.
My five favorites. They range from nuclear melt down to skin graft replacement. Try them all. They are cheap and delicious.

We got the steak burrito though, it was ground beef rather than steak. The tortillas were really good, might be 12 inches but the 12 in burrito was a bit misleading. I guess it still is but after you wrap it, which fell apart fast, didn't look like 12 inches. Overall eh, okay. Also, you can't eat inside. Have to take it to go.

I will start with the corn tortillas. They are wonderful, without the bitter preservative taste. For that they get the only stars I gave. Usually when I buy a pound and a half of barbacoa somewhere else it is usually a generous helping on a foam plate with a lid. This place here gave me a foam CUP and I thought no way is this even a pound. When I got home, I saw where the weight came from. The cup was full of oil and a trickle of meat. All I could taste was the bay leaf instead of the wonderful meat flavor it should naturally have. Will not buy again.

I've been coming here for years. Small home spun joint serving the finest in homemade chips and fresh salsas. They also sell Mexican cheeses, of which I have sampled most, all delicious. They sell fresh made tortillas, always the best. They also sell lunch trays, but I haven't sampled the fresh cooking. No real sit down room, all intended to be take out. I tell you what, their salsas are about the hottest and finest I've ever had. I've lived all over Texas in my 51 years and travelled through New Mexico extensively. I've never had hotter or better salsa. Ever. I make a long special trips anytime I want the finest HOT sauces. Always worth the trip. I give them a five star for consistently offering something no one else has managed to corner: the hot hot homemade salsa market.

Awesome in that it is open early (6AM!!!!)Hot sauces wonderful and some will melt your face off!! (Be sure and check the made on/expiry date. Sometimes they accidentally leave an older one in the cooler.)Tostadas and taco shells and chalupa shells are wonderful! If you make homemade tacos, chalupas, skip the store bought boxed rubbish and use theirs!!Kroger Deli flour tortillas are much, much, better than this place. Kroger's are as good as Mercado Juarez home made ones! Tortillas here are just like any major brand you find in the grocery except they're fresh!! Same for the corn. However, the freshness does make them a better than grocery store major brand ones if you don't want a separate trip to Kroger for their deli ones. Tamales here are awesome, but limited variety and not always available in the morning. Still haven't figured out what their tamale days are. Seems to hit or miss. Try the ancho chile tamales! If you've ever been to Dallas Tortilla Factory these tamales and hot sauces are just as good with the same taste.(Only ate an enchilada dinner here once at 7am in the morning and it was all cold. Probably wrong time of day.)They also have Mexican cheeses and avocados but you can get cheaper choices in the grocery on these things.Verdict:Best things are Hot sauces, tamales, and their chalupa/taco/tostada shells! They've got HOT sauces too if you want!!!! Dip your tamales in their hot sauces! Awesome!!Skip the flour tortillas and try Kroger deli ones which are as good as any hand made from a restaurant. Overall, La Nueva is my solid choice for the above items when I'm making Tex-Mex!

Even though the food is good- fresh and homemade, the service leaves a lot to be desired. Staff is always beyond rude and unprofessional. Tip: if you order to go, check your order before you leave, I made the mistake of not doing so and I had some items missing even though they charged me for it, when I called the lady answering the phone was rude and said it was my fault... At the end, the food might be good but the service is so bad you might wanna reconsider and get your Mexican food fix elsewhere.

Best takeout ever! Dine in is limited to 6 seats at a bar but oh so worth it! I ordered #4 Heuvos a la Mexicana. The corn tortillas are amazing and the food was better than any Mexican breakfast I've eaten. GREAT PRICES TOO! Oh, and they have their Mexican Pan (sweet bread) was the best I've ever had! I wish I knew where they ordered from because it was so very soft and just right amount of sweetness! I'm definitely going back!
