Tommyboy Sausage

On a whim, I stopped at this little cafe along 180 in Texas. I am so glad I did! Their ribs and brisket were very flavorful by themselves...tender and good bark. The sauce I added was a little sweet for my taste but the owner made a spicier sauce for me and it was perfect.I would add a picture of my plate but it's gone! They have brisket, pork loin, smoked bologna, ribs, sausages, chicken, catfish po-boys, etc. They have a lot of sides and some desserts available also. They also serve beer and wine.If you're like me and are wondering where to get food that has that extra something that shows in the flavor, go here. You will not be disappointed at all. I loved it!

Ok, let me preface this by saying that maybe we caught them on a bad day and right at opening time. For those who follow my review, you know a 1-star isn't something I take lightly. Anyway... A friend and I stopped in just a few minutes after they opened mid-week and were very disappointed. That an the fact that the young lady we followed in the door was on her first day as a server EVER didn't help. The bbq that we were served look as though it had been pulled out of the refrigerator and put in the steam table just minutes before we ordered. Both of our plates of food were cold and the meat was an unappetizing gray color. My friend's order was screwed up, probably because the new girl had zero idea of what her duties were or what the menu combinations were made up of. We heard her introduce herself to the cashier as the new server and she was turned our way to take the order with no idea of what she was doing, no idea of what was on the menu, etc.Flavor was unimpressive and honestly I was so put off by the whole situation that I didn't even make a stink. I just paid and left the plate of food. I know this place gets some decent reviews and maybe our visit was an anomoly, but I won't be giving them a second chance.3/18/2016 - Received the comment below from the owner who gave a bit of an explanation as to why things may have gone awry at the time of my visit. I'm happy to see the owner will be more involved and pleased that he has taken the time to drop me a note. If he is willing to reach out to me, then I feel that I can do the same and I will give TBS another shot if I find myself out that way.

I thought this place was amazing. It was clean, great atmosphere, friendly service and the food was great. I'll be coming back for sure. Try the "big hoss".

On yelp it says Sunday hours are 11a-7p, I drove 30 minutes one way to eat here, the sign outside says they're open 11a-6p on Sundays but I'm here at 4:15pm and it is freaking closed!

I stopped by around 2:30 PM on a Saturday and ordered a brisket plate. Brisket was lean and tender with a smokey flavor. The BBQ sauce has the right amount of sweetness that is addicting. I had fried okras and potato salad for sides. The okras were crispy on the outside, but not dried on the inside and the potato salad was creamy and light to balance the meaty meal. I also got a nice soft and warm dinner roll to go with my meal. Food was delicious and hot. Portions were large and I had to bring home more than half my plate. Service is phenomenal, friendly and quick. I went out to look at the horses next to the cafe and when I came back in my plate was ready. The owner also made sure I had enough water to drink. I will definitely come back.

This place is in the middle of nowhere but so worth the drive! The bbq is melt in your mouth....fall in love all over again experience with a great chef and very comfortable atmosphere. The sauce is a beautiful companion to the slow smoked ribs and brisket.....garlic mashed potatoes are heavenly. You can even sit on the patio and watch the horses next door or the cars driving by on the hwy. Can't wait to go back!

I'll start by saying that I take barbecue very serious. I've made the rounds around Texas, Lockhart, Salt Lick, Austin, some of the places in Fort Worth and Dallas. None of them can compete with Tommyboy's brisket. The brisket has so much flavor that I am physically in pain because I am not going there again till tomorrow. This is a must try place. If you are in Fort Worth or Dallas, definitely worth the drive. Oh and the potato salad is really good. It's not very mustardy, which is what I usually like. It was a pleasant surprise.

Terrible. horrible. A friend and I stopped here on the way to Mineral Wells. Stopped because of the reviews. Very disappointing. First off, one of the staff members was just unbelievably loud. I've worked fighter jet flight lines and been around artillery going off... this person is loud! I ordered the hot dog special. The sausage was good it was not severed as described on the menu, didn't seem worth the effort to send it back. Asked for some ice for my can of soda and got a dirty Styrofoam cup that looked like it as chewed on. My friend ordered a combo plate with a side of beans. They brought out just the beans without the rest of the food like it was an appetizer, and the beans were ice cold. When he got his food, he also said the sausage was good but the brisket was overcooked. Never going back.
