Sushi: amazing // ramen: ok // service: super friendly prices: amazingI came here today because Eater Dallas said this was one of the best ramen places in Dallas. I have passed by this place literally 10000 times as it's very close to my house and never really paid attention to it. The prices here are amazing! Literally the best for what you get. Most rolls are 2.50 for 4 pieces, and they are nice sized pieces. I ordered the LBJ roll, Philly roll, fresh salmon, smoked salmon and tonkotsu ramen. The sushi was all delicious. Super fresh and delicious. I think I found my new sushi spot. The ramen on the other hand, was not the best. It was not hot(maybe because it was 80 degrees outside), lacking in flavor, great portion size and good amount of meat. Though the portion size was great, I came for the flavor and it was ok, I've had better in Dallas and Houston. That's minor though considering there specialty is sushi and they knocked this out the park!!!!!! I'll be back.

I like that the sushi is affordable but I just don't see good quality in here. I understand that this place supply to restaurants but some restaurants just don't have the quality there. This place is A-okay for sure and I think the price matches up to it. Also, don't expect much service as it's more casual. Still, very good for something quick and affordable.

Sushi bar review:The sushi here is very good and affordable. I wouldn't say it's on par with any of Dallas's top sushi spots but it's above average and about 20-40% cheaper. Kazy's is fish wholesaler so the fish is excellent quality. I tried the 10 pc nigiri special (tuna, salmon, yellowtail, shrimp, and eel) and cup of miso soup. If I had to complain about anything I'd say the rice could have been cooked slightly longer but overall I was impressed. The restaurant portion was recently remodel and has three tables for 6 and a few spots for parties of 1-2. After reading older reviews, it was a much cleaner and nicer than I expected. And there was no fishy smell whatsoever.Great place to grab a quick lunch. They also have rice bowls, udon, and ramen. I plan to go back to buy everything needed to make sushi at home. They sell the rice, fish, pickled ginger, wasabi, and soy sauce.

Bones in sushi is normal? I've been coming to Kazys for a long time now - today's visit will probably be my last. I ordered a sushi lunch combo that comes with a spicy tuna roll. Bit into it and found a pretty good sized bone. Asked the man at the register and he proceeded to tell me that it is perfectly normal and it happens. 30 years I've been eating sushi and never once have I been presented any type of sushi with bones in it. Their general lack of 'give a damn' & total lack of concern with quality control is what had made me decide to venture elsewhere to get my sushi fix.

I have been here for lunch a few times. It takes a little bit of time to get their food but it is so fresh. The fish melts in your mouth like butter. Their sushi is very simple and affordable but there isn't a lot of variation. You won't find fried sushi here. I highly recommend it.

I just got back from a lunch at Kazy's where i had tonkotsu ramen. To be honest, this was among the worst ramen I have had. The noodles themselves were molded in a clump at the bottom of the bowl, the broth was almost flavorless, and the meat that came with it was small and grey looking. But, I don't expect the best in the world at that price, so I'll give them 3 stars for the effort. Also, listen to me when I say that if you see a table of weeaboos when you arrive, fucking flee. Waiting for my meal next to a table full of weeaboos trying to out Japanese each other was maybe my version of hell, which I of course deserve greatly.

I hate it when friends tell me about an awesome place that's like literally seconds away from me and I had no idea and I'm like "whuzza?"So, I hear about Kazy's from someone who lives, of course, much further away, and I step out of my darkened hovel into the glaring light and I shield my eyes (almost albino now, like cave fish) a lo, there appeareth Kazy's Gourmet, and my cup runneth over and I'm like, "whuzza?"I can easily walk there. So, me and the stealthy assassin who bides her time until I let down my guard decided to try the place out. Inside, there's about one of everything you need to successfully recreate a Japanese city block. They've got snacks and sauces and cooking utensils and those cool mini-drapes-with-pictures-of-octopi-on-them you see in sushi restaurants. Awesome. The prices for the goods are typical Japanese imported prices (high), though there are some good bargains hidden here and there. There are hidden nooks and crannies everywhere you look, and if you turn the wrong corner you just may find yourself in feudal Japan astride a barded horse. Every corner of this place is stuffed with plates and chopsticks and whatnot, and it's quite a fun time to check out everything here. Now, Kazy's is known for being a major fish distributor to the sushi restaurants in town, and, true to form, I saw a couple of chefs run in and pick up their enormous orders. This, in my book, is a good sign for the quality of the fish. There is a small counter at which you can order some food, and though sometimes you have to clear your throat really loudly and pretend to cough so that someone will know that you're ready to order, usually the ordering process is painless. There are two cooks here that I usually see, and they've usually got five pots going simultaneously as well as three things in the deep-fryer. These guys are BUSY with call-in orders and those who eat in. It's worth noting that English is the chefs' second language, so if you are one of those people whose typical orders sound like- "uhm, gimme a tuna roll but instead of tuna I want fried mackerel eyeballs and instead of a roll can you just caress a sheet of seaweed until the moisture from your hands makes it naturally curl?" -then you will have a hard time here. There is a sheet (just like the ones in the sushi restaurants) where you write down your selections, and it is no more complicated than that. When you pay for the food (typically when the food is done, not when you order), they will use this sheet to check your order. I have not had a problem with the accuracy of my orders. Also, no dirty communists to be found, thank goodness, as they can really ruin a lunch I hear because their hands are flippers and they eat with their mouths open and I am disgusted by them I think. The rolls here are simple; no rainbow rolls or anything swathed in multi-fish, but they are CHEAP (when was the last time you spent $1.99 to $3.99 for a roll?), FRESH, and the amount of fish within is MOTHER TERESA LEVEL GENEROUS. See the photo I uploaded here for confirmation. Also, notice that in the photo that I destroyed most of my other rolls (raised by wolves) before I could take a breath to snap the pic. Of note are the Ladybird Roll, buttery pieces of tuna with thinly sliced green onion, the Spicy Tuna Roll, kissed with a touch of Sriracha, and I could have SWORN that I had a roll here with fried crawfish that was absolutely fantastic, but the next time I ordered there was no mention of it on the menu and the chefs feigned ignorance. I smell cover-up. The non-sushi dishes are pretty decent as well: I've had the curry bowl, which was very mild (I like mine spicy) but chock full o' savory chicken, potatoes, and pickles, and which also afforded me two meals for only $3.99. The crab puffs are a riff on the typical Crab Rangoons you can get elsewhere. These were tasty and about what you'd expect, though with bigger pieces of Krab (notice the 'k', so not real, which is also par for the course). The chicken Yakisoba was pretty good (though my assassin mentioned, in a moment of stealth weakness, that it was too salty for her), and it was again very generously sized and satisfying, with plenty of chicken pieces, vegetables, and a rich, tangy sauce. Now, when you get your food, try to get to the second floor, as it's this awesome lounge-y area with couches and a tv and FREE WIRELESS?! The only drawback is that these lame-o tech-industry guys are always hogging the place and all I want to do is eat my meal and spread Dungeons and Dragons paraphernalia over every surface and roll my 20-sided dice in peace, dammit.I would say give this place a shot. It's a little fishy smelling downstairs, as they are a FISH BUSINESS, but the rolls are cheap, delicious, and you can get your fish on without having to wear one of those awful dragon-embroidered only-one-button-at-the-bottom guy's shirts that are the rage these days. Also, no crappy techno! huzza!

Crazy affordable lunch specials. Rice bowls are like $4.50. Bento boxes are around 7.Kazy's is known to be a supplier to some of the sushi restaurants in dallas, which means everything in their is sushi grade. They have plenty of nice japanese food for you to try.I ordered the dallas bento which had a cali roll, cucumber roll, and nigiri pieces. You can't beat the value at this place.

Kazy's is a very small Japanese grocery store with a restaurant that takes up about 1/3 of the store. I am very impressed by how many Japanese snacks, condiments, foods, etc. that they sell. You can also purchase sashimi grade fish from the sushi bar!I tried the shrimp tempura roll, ikura, masago, spicy tuna roll, and the spider roll. I liked everything except for the spider roll. The shrimp tempura roll was delicious! And the ikura was so fresh!!!!I will definitely be back for lunch again!
