The Loophole

We specifically returned here because on our first visit we saw the Italian Cheesesticks someone had ordered (which were triangular and MASSIVE) but on this visit the ones we received were just standard frozen style cheesesticks. The waitress did say they'd been out of stock for a few days so maybe they were substituting temporarily? That being said, our table ordered a plain burger, the goat cheese burger, turkey pasta press, and French dip press. Overall everything was yummy but the French dip definitely lacked something. The waitress was very friendly and attentive despite the bar getting pretty busy shortly after we arrived. It's more bar than restaurant so expect it to be a little lively with music playing.

An iconic tavern on our local Denton, Texas, square's south east corner, that's been there a long time, surviving even the COVID-19 lockdown and its far-reaching consequences that are by no means finished; for our own personal lives every person in the world we not-so patiently toed the line for the sake of our health and schools and churches shut down until we managed, under Donald J. Trump's to fast-track the development of an effective, robust vaccine; fast forward to June 2024, and the public house, which makes my TOP TEN bars in Denton, Texas.For the record, second place goes to the phenomenal outdoor bar near downtown Denton, Oak St. Drafthouse and third goes to the Harvest House, where an amphitheater-type stage for music performances, which is featured so customers can drink draft beer and watch a show.Keep Denton strong in community recognition of excellent governance and support our local peace officers and Fire and Rescue workers.Thanks for letting me review the business on Yelp Ft. 10/10! All the food I've had here has been really really good! Try their burgers! and their fries! and their wings! Their drinks are very good and very affordable...They have $4-$5 shots! Clean place, nothing too fancy, nice college town bar. Staff is always very friendly. Definitely recommend!

To describe the loophole in a single word- fun. This pub is eclectic and cool in definitely downtown Denton vibes. The drinks are made properly, there's strong, and satisfying. Staff members all work very well together, I found them to be engaging and entertaining which made my experience even better. The brisket nachos get two thumbs up, it's a perfect bar food, Scott does the midday cooking and he came out to ensure we were satisfied as well. Overall I had a great time at the Loophole, met some new people in the relaxed environment and it was great. Downside- bathrooms are small it's a single seater, if it was very busy, I would expect lines/ long wait times. Overall great and I recommended a stop in.

Unlike my previous visit for brunch, I had a much better dining experience. Rather than blasting the music, it was played at a decent volume. With regulars seated at the bar, the bartender was able socialize with them without making me wait for service.Deciding between the Loophole Burger or the Chipotle Turkey Press, I chose the former due to it being the daily special. I took advantage of the knife which was served with burger. Cutting the burger in half made it proportionally less messy and more enjoyable to eat. Because I was interested in dessert at the nearby ice cream parlor, I was not interested interested in the fries. The few that I ate tasted okay.

I love a casual pub in an old historic building that has cool architecture and lighting and a very homey "stay awhile" feeling. I wish we'd had lunch here during our recent Denton day trip, but we arrived too early in the day and just weren't ready yet to eat. Too many other stops to make! But the menu here looked thoughtful and delicious as far as classic bar food goes. You'll find pizza, burgers, fries, nachos, wings, fried cheese sticks, sandwiches, and salads -- and everything is made with locally sourced ingredients where possible, including their daily fresh squeezed juices and house made syrups! Jon ordered an old fashioned and I had the latest trending cider of the moment, a grapefruit apple concoction that was a little too sweet for me but overall crisp and enjoyable. Jon said his cocktail was just right.Our bartender made it quickly while she seemed to keep this entire pub running. It was relatively busy for 1PM on a Wednesday and she was the only staff member we saw for 45 minutes. She had everything under control and was so sweet as well. Speaking of Wednesdays, Wednesday is half priced burger day at The Loophole and I'm still thinking about that ones I saw on their menu that caught my eye: the "Poblano Raspberry Burger" with roasted poblano peppers, smoked bacon, smoked cheddar, lettuce, raspberry jam, and chipotle mayo on a pretzel bun; and the "Bacon Jam Goat Cheese Burger" with house made bacon jam, goat cheese, Swiss cheese, lettuce, stout grilled onions, tomato, cracked black pepper, and mayonnaise. Okay yum. These flavors are right up my alley. We're planning another Denton outing in the near future and already look forward to another Loophole visit for a cocktail and burger.

Worst service i've ever had at a restaurant in my life! My girlfriend and I were there for almost 2 hours and one of those hours was just waiting for my girlfriend's burger because our server forgot to ring it in! I also got the wrong burger and the burger i got didnt even have any garnish or nothing, just 2 buns and a fry and burnt patty! When i complained to the manager i got a measly $4 taken off of my bill. Both the manager and our server didn't even seem like they cared about our terrible night at the restaurant and took our server 30 minutes to pay us out and that's only because i had to go up to her 3 different times just to pay out. she was either waiting at the bar for drink that werent there or talking to other customers right in front of our table. The manager also seemed annoyed at my partner and i for complaining about our terrible service.

I love this place--all around good food and drinks. I went here with family recently and the staff was accommodating. I don't expect a bar to have a kids menu, but it's nice to see they cared enough to make a smaller pizza for our kid.I highly recommend the burgers. The environment is pleasant enough, but definitely better at night. It's got a Denton vibe with vintage furniture and interesting art on the walls. Give it a shot.

Recurring Loophole visitor for a while. Went back recently and their entire menu had changed. Prices went up across the board, and the menu has shrank down to fewer choices. I guess they had some sort of mini revamp? Nothing notably different about the atmosphere or service, just higher prices and less choices across the board. Miss the old stuff.
