FUN! Great local live music, cold beer, and I have to say, reminds me of Austin back before the weirdos took over!

It's an okay place if you don't mind dead animal heads all over the walls, and crying in your beer old school country music. Some people dumped a helpless little puppy while I was there. They need to get their dog fixed and quit adding to the shelter problem! What kind of people dump a puppy at a bar? It's got some cool antiques, but that's about the only positive thing I can say about the place.

We checked out The Greenwood after dining at Let's Eat. It was a great way to end a very enjoyable and unique meal, as The Greenwood is also very unique. We drank a few beers outside, watched the sky darken and listened to a freight train roll by. It was a perfect way to end the day. We did sort of wish it was Saturday, as that's when the live music plays. On [this] Friday, it's just the juke box, which was fine as I think it made for a more casual drinking experience. We'll try to plan our next trip to Bluff Dale on Saturday night!Update: I just took a closer look at one of my photos. On the hours sign it says Live Music Friday and Saturday, so not sure why there was none tonight.

Stumbled upon this place last night. Not visible from US377 but it's located behind Wilfong's. Opened just 3 days a week. Pretty big crowd for a Sunday night too. I don't know if it was just luck or what but the local music talent on stage was really good. On Friday and Saturday they have scheduled music so it's possible Sunday is open mic and we got incredibly lucky as the music was almost professional sounding. This is an 1897 building that looks to be fairly original and rickety on the exterior but such a great little venue with affordable drinks. Large outside area for sitting and enjoying the music. Didn't want to leave and I can't wait to go back.

What a neat off the beaten path bar!We came in for my husbands bday on a wet and cold Saturday night. They had a really great man singing on stage. I believe the cover was $5 bucks... cheap for great Texas music. They only serve beer and wine... and soda out of the can. I think our tab was under $40. Again really affordable. (I wasn't drinking- pregnancy) We will be back next spring for sure!

You think you've been to a real saloon, complete with a true Texas feel and great music? Not 'till you've been to The Greenwood, cowboys and cowgirls. Our friends introduced us to this place after eating down the street at Let's Eat. We were the obvious out-of-towners when we walked in (my picture snapping helped that though). The inside was decorated with old and Western artifacts, with none of the decor really matching and placed randomly all over the walls and floors.Outside, you step onto a gravel and concrete area decorated with random patio sets, rusted out swings and picnic tables. A big concrete slab sits in front of the stage for everyone to dance on. The night we were there, the band blasted out covers of Dwight Yoakam, Brooks & Dunn and old country classics. They only serve beer, wine and sodas so don't expect anything fancy. They also provide popcorn if you get the munchies. The bathrooms are the coolest thing evah, made to look like an updated outhouse. The sink looks like an old outside faucet and the sink is a big silver bucket. There's another huge outdoor area off to the side, separated by a fence with a doorway; no one really went over there, but I suppose it catches overflow on busy nights and when the place is rented out.We had a BLAST sipping on beer, dancing with friendly strangers and cheering on the band. It's definitely a Texas gem that everyone should visit at least once.

Bar might be a great place for locals but the blond bartender gave me and my wife a mouthful of attitude when we sat down with ice tea from the restaurant next door saying we can't bring a alcohol, when I stated we weren't there to drink nor did we have alcohol she became more belligerent and demanded my Id, at 60 with gray hair I laughed handed my I'd which she walked off with. Never mind the fact that we watched several people walk in with beers in hand and one lady with a whole liter bottle of vodka in her arm.

Stopped by after a gathering for a dear friend. Was told it was a favorite of his, so pulled in for a beer in his memory. Easy to see why it was a favorite. Became one of mine w/in minutes. Glad it wasn't here when I lived near going to school or I'd likely have never graduated the nearby college I attended. I would've spent way too much time in this place. I will be back. Great place. Great locale. Great people. It's what a hangout is supposed to be.
