The Green Frog

Service is competent but hampered by a kitchen that is very slow. Restaurant is sparsely occupied, 5 pm on a Saturday. It has been 45 mins and still waiting on a chicken fried steak. What little food has been delivered (a side salad) has been fine but nothing to write home about. Many "best this" and "best that" signs on the wall inside. It strains credibility of the publications proclaiming these accolades to believe the Green Frog earned any of them.Update: chicken fried steak delivered. Average at best.

Better loosen up your belt before you walk in because this small town gem has all your down home cookin. The service was friendly and prompt. We had catfish, chicken fried steak, and a burger - all cooked perfectly! Portions are large and prices reasonable. Don't sleep on the pinto beans or the grilled vegetables.

The waitresses saw us come in and sit down. We were never greeted. We sat down and waited forever for at least a menu and didn't even get that. As soon as one of their friends came in, they were instantly greeted and handed a menu. (Mind you the place is pretty much empty) We just walked out. No need to ever go there again.

Food was delicious and the service was great as well! We were traveling home from Austin and driving through this small town and lucked upon the restaurant.

I've been stopping here occasionally for 30 years. The buffet is very southern and always delicious home cooking. Service is attentive and the restaurant is clean and tidy. I'm glad they have endured since the 50's and I wish them continued prosperity.

Tried to visit this location and it was 30 mins before they closed. We were told we weren't allowed to eat here because they were closing. Lots of people were still eating and one customer came up to us and said that was unacceptable and that she herself was just about to start eating so she wasn't sure why we were turned away. Very disappointed

Holy - Moly the portions here are huge! The service is great. The catfish is delicious. I ordered the large, but it was so much we had to take some home. The chicken tender platter is so big also. The fries were are good and crispy. The fried yellow squash is the best I've ever had. Nice squash flavor. Good place to eat, I would go back for sure. I can't wait to try the meatloaf.

Was a nice all you can eat experience. Salad bar was fresh and tasty. Buffet was fantastic with chicken fried chicken, sausage and bell peppers and then several great side dishes. Great value too

The best!!!! Will stop again when in Jacksboro...or might just come here to eat from Iowa Park

Delicious buffet with a nice variety . Highly recommend! Staff was about to close the buffet for lunch but kept it open for us. So nice!
