The Dixie Pig

Dixie Pig was pointed to by friends, who said that it was a great place to have breakfast...and that was two years ago. Finally, my wife and I went there to see how ''great'' it really was. It was ''Old Texas'', as we remembered our youth...she, in Corpus Christi, and I, in Andrews. Homey, anxious to please the customers, and good solid breakfasts. The main difference that we could recall was that there was no Home Fries in the old days. We naïvely ordered a biscuit, each, and were astonished to find a huge biscuit WITH gravy. On every table there was a bottle of Tabasco Sauce...eggs over easy were done to perfection. My bride got bacon, and I ordered sausage...neither of us will change the meat order the next time...we each think that our particular orders were superb. Dixie Pig...the last Old Texas Cafe in Abilene. Please folks, do not ever change, hear?Thos. B. Fowler

Eleven years since I reviewed this place? I guess it's time for an update. Guess what? NOTHING has changed! I'm serious! LOL! Barbara and her family still run it. Same tables, same chairs. Same great food! It's truly Abilene's only old style diner. I've been coming here at least 53 years, maybe longer. When I was young and pouring concrete with my dad, we would leave the job every afternoon and come here for coffee. When I started working for Jack, same thing. Coffee every afternoon. Dixie Pig is THE place for breakfast or a lunch special. Today I had chicken fry, green beans, jalapeno corn, a huge roll, and dessert, for $10. Heck of a deal. But it's cash or check only. Don't forget! Unfortunately, like me, the Dixie Pig is getting really old. I hope younger family, or a new owner continues this Abilene tradition. As long as it's open, I'll keep coming! Great breakfast joint, heard several suggestions to check it out and they were all correct. Local old style eatery that is cash ONLY pic is my selection and it was all GREAT!!!

We usually go there. The food is really good. The last time we went the service was not good. There was a piece of the beard in my boyfriend's gravy. Y'all are a great restaurant. Don't let it fall cause a poor service and cooks. Thatdon't wear a mask on their face when they have beards.

This place is amazing, and sitting at the fro t counter is even better. Michelle and Joanne are definitely the servers I go to. I just moved here recently from Florida and somehow came across this place. Service is great, with some form of humor in it. Everyone k owns everyone and I love it. Their breakfast and lunch specials are great along with their prices.

We came for breakfast at lunch time. Food was prepared fresh and as ordered. Family owned and staff owned as super friendly.

A true Abilene staple. 90 years with family running most of the business include a 11 year old great granddaughter running the cashier. Food was very culturistic of the city and the name "Dixie" with no negative connotations here. No fruit for your oatmeal but it's still fun to ask. Glad we got recommended here. Price is very reasonable. Enjoy!

Went there with a friend for a breakfast because I used to go there when I was young and I am 73 now. Was an absolutely awful disappointing experience with the eggs being instant with no flavor. The bacon was greasy, not crispy and tasted like it was from a boar hog. The hashbrowns were so tough. You couldn't eat them. The place is old the bathroom stink, and it needs to go.

The bacon was cooked just the way she likes it. The pan cake was good. The establishment was clean and service was good. Very friendly. BUT BRING CASH NO CARDS ACCEPTED!! As the cashier said that's the only computer in the store. lol
