We have been coming to Tex's Star Grill for years, this is definitely a favorite restaurant in the area. My personal favorite food here is the chicken fried chicken. Not only is the taste delicious, but the portions are amazing for the money. You will get a chicken fried chicken that is over half of a plate. I love getting the fries as my side to use the spicy house sauce. You also get toast and a side salad. Those working are very nice and they keep the restaurant very clean. You will probably also see the owner here, he is always working.

First time trying out Tex's Star Grill. I heard they had great gyros (I used to work at a Greek restaurant so I often get a hankering for gyros) and so we came in one afternoon after church to try it with the family. I guess because we're new to the area, we don't really understand the Texas habit of ordering at a counter and then waiting for food in the dining area. I thought this place would be an actual diner because it looks like one from outside but its not. Inside the decor is old and dated. Nothing wrong with a cowboy theme, it just looked kinda dusty and like it hadn't been updated since 1980. You could film a movie that takes place in the past here easily - take note, Hollywood! My husband had a burger here and he was pleased with it. It was juicy and flavorful and cooked to his liking. The onion rings are pretty yummy and the portion was generous. The gyro, which is what they advertise outside, was fresh and I appreciate that they grill the pita a bit. It had a good flavor and the homemade "cucumber sauce" was a good mix of feta, dill and cucumber which is a bit different from other tzatziki sauces. Sadly, the gyro wasn't as delicious as Moe's Gyros but it was still pretty good and I enjoyed it. The staff was also friendly and kept the booths and tables maintained and the self serve drink area clean. It seemed family friendly with lots of folks with small kids which is always nice because I have some of my own. Unfortunately, everything else we ordered was a dud. The brownie, the BLT, the french fries and most tragically, the baklava weren't up to standards. Having worked previously in a Greek restaurant, we always kept our baklava in a large tray in the refrigerator in a pool of honey! This baklava was cold, too firm and dry as a whistle. It was very disappointing. So, will we return to Tex's Star Grill? Probably not but it wasn't a terrible experience. For the price and the quality of the food, there are other places to go that have better menu options and ambiance. But if you don't mind a kid friendly trip back in time for a good burger or gyro, this place will do.

Wow. Seriously tasty and fresh. Way bett3r than expected...and friendly service! This gem is located on Rufe Snow. I hit the drive-thru and order3d their 1/4 pounder with cheese meal. I traded the fries for onion rings. My diet coke was HUUUuuuuGE....and was even better than McDonald's fountain drinks! Truth! The burger was really good and held fresh veggies. The onion rings needed a little salt, but oh so good. I went through the drive thru, so the ambiance was minimal...but i love seeing Tex with the big yellow star. Did I mention the soft delicious bun?! So good!

First time here with a friend, my buddy Gary recommended it. It's family owned with a Chicago background and there are several different options to choose from! We both had the flame grilled burgers with special sauce and fries. It hit the spot and I liked the spicy sauce better than the regular sauce. I want to make another trip soon to try a hot dog or polish style.. We definitely were satisfied and happy when we left.

One of our favorite go to places for burgers. My sponsor is attracted because of the Spicy Home sauce. I like the burgers but my favorite is the Ruben combo. Today my sponsor maintained her #2 Combo 1/3 Chzburger. I was trying to decide between a hamburger and a Ruben. The owner had a special listed as #13 Goldenburger. It is a burger overlaid with pastrami. Hence my solution to making a decision. We had a delicious meal and enjoyed the great service and clean atmosphere.

Customer service was excellent until an older woman came to the window. Maybe it was just one of those days, but she came off as unfriendly. I've never had a bad experience here and use to bake bread for the company. However, this does affect my overall review. The spicy fried pickles were horrible! The burger was decent. The onion rings were the best part of my meal. The establishment is still clean and looks the same from yrs ago. You can tell the owner takes pride in his business. I think this was an off day, hopefully.

Update: I returned today and tried the Country Fried Steak sandwich combo. It was $11.79. When I switched from fries to onion rings, that added 2.00. I then got a piece of baklava for $2.49 (which is a great price on it!). With tax it was $17.59Over $15 for the sandwich, onions rings and drink is too expensive. Lastly, they ask you to tip 10, 15, 18 or 20% and I refuse to support any business that wants me to tip them to hand me my coffee, drink or food. You're not providing me a service to prepare the food or drink that you sold me tipping has gotten out of control in this country and everybody expects to be tipped for doing their job and even when it's not providing a service. The price and tipping is why I gave a 3 star and not 5. The food is very good.

We can't give this place enough stars! Fantastic food! Don't let the exterior or name fool you. The food pictures don't do justice. George is a Greek man from Chicago that has lived in Texas a couple decades...and the food reflects it all. The Gyro is some of the best meat we have had. That's right, great gyros from a place with "Tex" in the name. We took the owners suggestion and got the Golden Burger that is piled with fresh pastrami. Amazing blend of flavors. My mouth wanted more. We highly recommend Tex's Star Grill. No matter your food-mood the fresh, made to order delights will appease your appetite and excite your taste buds.

Can always rely on cooked to order, hot food when here. Always clean, service is fast & staff is friendly. (As is the owner who greets people as he walks around the restaurant.) A lot to choose from on the menu, but I always get a burger & fries.
