If you are not familiar with the TeCo Theater yet, you really don't know what you've been missing! DFW has not had a real place for jazz and the arts since the Caravan of Dreams went out of business back in early 2000's! If you love live jazz then you definitely need to check out their jazz series http://www.tecotheater.org/jazzseries.php It's a small venue that's very intimate and you will just love the experience!Located in the Bishop Arts District, Teco also offers local art and plays! I just love this place!

I thought it was just me. I should've read Yelp before swinging by this venue. Had I done so I never would've ventured out. While TeCo may be a cool spot for patrons, it's a very frustrating experience for independent producers looking for rental venues. While in Dallas "shopping" for theater spaces, I was directed to TeCo. My first issue was that, unlike all of the other spaces we had visited that day, TeCo refused to turn the lights on for us to just spot check the space. The owner (I think) told us to look at the website pics and that should be sufficient. But she did this after wholly engaging a mother and her young son on how he could meet his community service hours at her facility, but refusing to engage us with the grace and respect one shows potential customers. At first I took it a little personal (my partner was FURIOUS). But after reading the other Yelp reviews, I see this is business as usual with TeCo. Thanks, but no. (NOTE: I thought I saw Alex Bugnon on one of their upcoming events. If so, KUDOS! I love him and wished I lived in Dallas to attend that show.)

Miss Teresa, Allowed me to clarify. "A certain block of time" pertains to the hours given to the production, on the day of production, to set up and/or rehearse. This is not "giving away business", especially since the establishment was not occupied at any time that day before our production. What it is, is simply respecting the time and effort it takes to get things in order before the production begins. I have thoroughly read through the contract, hoping that there was something in there that allowed that valuable time, but there was nothing. I kept lips concealed to deviate from any problems that may arise because of my concerns, which may have damaged the production. Now, as I have hurdled "Teco Theater", I again, was thoroughly displeased. My aim was to keep black money in black hands and support the community, but I am finding that to be much harder to do. Also, there was the issue of the marquee, and the reason given for us not to be able to utilize it as well as us paying for tables to sell product and only receiving ONE coffee table. Again, I will not slander this venue, that is not my purpose. However, I will make displeasure known in the most professional way possible.Thank you for your previous response, may you enjoy the rest of your day.Tyran S.

More folks need to come to see the shows at Bishop Arts Theater Center. It's a great venue, and TeCo Theatricals puts on some wonderful shows. The annual Playwrights Competition in February is a lot of fun, with the audience voting on which of the short plays should win. Other plays and musicals presented here have been fun and well done; as always, check about the appropriateness for children, as some shows will be fine, others more for adults. TeCo also does a summer program for kids to participate in, learning many aspects and disciplines of theater, and putting on a performance themselves. There's also a jazz series with impressive artists, and always some interesting art displayed in the lobby. Very friendly folks too, so I highly recommend coming out to the Bishop Arts T. C.; I will be returning as often as possible.

I always read as many different reviews as possible prior to making a decision to make purchases, simply to get a general idea of what others have to share of their experiences. I'm also certain to share my own experiences, particularly when the experience is exemplary; as was the case with my interaction with the staff of TeCo Theatrical Productions. As a fairly new director, and novice to theater production, I really didn't know what to expect when seeking a place to hold my very first production. Teresa, the owner and her staff were not only patient and courteous with regards to my many many questions, but they were also extremely accommodating and gracious considering we were dealing with time and logistic constraints. The experience with TeCo Theatrical Productions and the Bishop Arts Center was everything we could've asked for and the some: the price was right and the service was perfect! I highly recommend this venue to anyone in need of the right space and a side of excellent customer service,
