Authentic Mexican food in Alvarado! I am from California and this was the first Mexican restaurant. I tried in Texas, have to tell you I was not disappointed. The food was amazing and great service. I only wish their salsa was a little bit spicier, it definitely tasted, homemade and was served in Bottles at the table but for my taste I would've liked it a little bit hotter. This place is on my way home from work and I'm sure I'll be back for another taco Tuesday special night.

Taste of Texas meets hole in the wall Mexican joint. Take a moment and tantalize your tastebuds with home town goodness. We needed a quick stop for food that turned into a pause for palatal pleasure. We ordered the breakfast burritos made to order. Spice was nice, and they hit the spot we didn't know we needed. I had the chorizo and my wife had the sausage, and it was worth the detour. The service was great, the place was clean, and the food was great. We will be back.

The food is so authentic and delicious!!!! They give you great portions! You will NOT leave hungry! This is my go to spot at least once a week! You have to make sure to try the green sauce and habanero sauce! The service is always amazing!!!! I love the staff! They are always so sweet and kind, and have great recommendations! Best Mexican food in Alvarado!! I have had plenty of dishes, and have never been disappointed!!

From the outside it doesn't look like much, we went inside and you seat yourself. They bring out chips and salsa with the menus, but the chips aren't complimentary, they charge you 2$ for chips when you didn't even ask for them. I ordered the fajita mix. The entire meal was gristly, besides the stuff that wasn't inside the pan. The shrimp tasted off; the steak was gamy and fatty, and the chicken was PERFECT! Another complaint was there weren't a lot of vegetables in the pan like there should've been.My husband's burrito plate wasn't anything to die for, the barbacoa burrito was amazing. They charged us 43.14$ which isn't worth the quality of the food. We agreed if we return it will be a quick burrito to go.

A lot has has changed in one year. Or maybe it's been a few since the last time I wrote about Taqueria Torres. My wife ordered breakfast tacos with chorizo, potato and egg. What she got was tortillas laid flat with the egg and other fillings inside all on top of each other. the taste was not what I remembered. The chorizo actually tasted different. The green hot sauce was very watery. Although it tasted like garlic, it ran down my arm and was not very spicy. Everyone inside was having a good time as usual eating there Sunday morning, Menudo. Kind of afraid to try that with the experience I have had on the tacos this year. Next time I will go to Venus to their Taqueria.

Ordered 4 different orders to go. No sign was posted about a to go order adding gratuity or a certain amount being added to total for having a certain amount of to orders. I order 4 entrees and some thing small on the side. They have the smart system Clover with a large tablet screen and the screen was out or defective so I could not see what and how much the manager was ringing me up. Apparently I pay without seeing what everything costs and they added a 15% gratuity without telling me. On top of that, I added a 15% tip on top of the automated tip I was unaware of and the manager didn't say anything.I ask the same person who rung me up and ask what was the automated gratuity for and she said that anything larger than 4 orders. No sign, no warning, no verbal acknowledgment of that at all. She understood what she did was wrong but refused to admit it. Don't go here. Go to El Rey's across the street. They have better food and better prices!

Very authentic food. Enchiladas were especially good. Drinks served in Styrofoam cups, but that is OK. Overall, a small family Mexican restaurant that is very busy on weekends. Food and service are good. Atmosphere is so so but it is Alvarado. We would eat here again.

I can say that I have been coming here for years and this place never disappoints! The food is so good I love lowkey all of it ! They are pretty fast and they do get a little busy but the time for the wait is good! At all the time I have been there only once was my table sticky I also went when is was rush hour so I don't blame them.. the other times it was perfect. 10/10
