Just an all-around good environment with friendly bartenders, cheap drinks (as in inexpensive; the quality and variety is fantastic), and inclusivity! They also have obscure Springsteen songs on the jukebox.

Very divey bar. In a strip mall and it's kinda dark, in and out. We came for the Girl Scout cookie beer pairing which was super good! The do it every year and it's a terrific idea. Other than that nothing special.. the bartender took a while to get to us but we left after our flights. They do always seem to have fun events going on though!

I had an amazing experience here great customer service and bartender katie was amazing this is now my favorite bar in Arlington i give it 10 stars.

This is my favorite bar in town. I'm there at least 4 nights a week, their drinks are strong,& well priced. It is smokey! but that adds to the character of the place,its not some so called sports bar or stinking restaurant, & no damn kids. it is a true bar with darts, pool tables, bar snacks, & even a trivia & game night, all in all its a great place, where u go to drink, smoke, have a good time & unwind. No such thing as a free lunch. The T

The Nerdy Pub simple local hang out... not shabby of a place. Enjoyed the Drunk Spelling Bee contest. They have board games and pool. Drinks not expensive.

Is this a first review? Okay kids, the name of this bar stands for "There ain't no such thing as a free lunch". The place is old and dirty just like we like it. Cash only, no cards. There is a small patio and I mean small. Darts and pool tables and juke box. Live music sometimes. The service is very friendly. Rumor has it that this is one of the oldest bars in Arlington. I can't remember whether Stagecoach or the Why Not Bar has the other oldest liquor license.....

This is a wonderful hang out, like a second home. Very kind and caring ownership and management. The regs are all good people. Ita a place you can come in dressed to the 9's or in your work uniform and totally feel welcome and not out of place. I would recommend it to everyone. No drama, no fights. Great prices, kick ass vibe!!

As much as I love hole in the wall bars you can still smoke in, this place isn't worth it. When I heard there was a cat living in the bar I was kinda stoked cuz I love kitties. But Tanstaafl smells like cat pee, and I literally watched Whiskers take a dump on the corner stage. GROSS. Cash only is a bit of a put out for me, but they're pretty clear about it up front. Service is friendly and fast, but DAMN, that smell of cat pee is unbearable! Just go over to Gold Nugget or Sunshine.

This is my favorite place in the entire world. All the best people go there and all the best people work there. This place will always be home to me and I feel like I can be myself whenever I am here. Home is where the bar is.

Glad to see that TANSTAAFL is still around. I used to hang out there as a student at UT Arlington back in the late 70s. Popular spot with a lot of students then. Although I have not been back to Arlington since my UTA days, I still tell people about this pub. BTW, wasn't it started by a UTA professor?
