I was invited to perform for two nights at Songbird Live! in Cleburne, Tx by Tom Burkett, who owns this listening room with his wonderful wife. What was once a very long early 1900's store front has been converted into a space for live music. With comfortable, cushioned chairs, a nice sized stage, a GREAT sound system, a piano, an antique display case for snacks and treats, wonderful posters on the wall and an audience that came from far away as Kentucky, Ft. Worth and other surrounding areas, I REALLY enjoyed performing in this hall. If you live in Cleburne, please go out and support this venue. If you are a musician like me, check into performing here. If you love live music and want the intimacy of something, truly, special, check out a night of live music at Songbird Live! Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful!

I went to see Sara Hickman at "Songbird Live" in Cleburne Tx, Sat, Oct. 4th. Tom (the owner) went out of his way to make sure we were happy and comfortable. Sara was wonderful! This is a great venue, and I hope to see many more musicians there!

I've been sitting on this a couple weeks. The two stars I'm giving this venue are because I enjoyed the music act I saw, who I will not name in relation to this review. I was enjoying myself in the quaint, intimate atmosphere until the owner of the venue opened the show by addressing the audience in the following way:"Here at Songbird, we like to present acts that actually have skills. So, you won't see any rappers here. There's a place for them and it isn't here."I would have gotten up and left immediately if I hadn't been there with my mother who really wanted to be there. Luckily, the entire audience was white and over the age of 50 excepting myself, so I don't think anyone was too horribly offended. But why are you opening an artistic program by singling out something you clearly don't understand with hate? Just because you don't like a certain type of music does not mean the artists who perform that music have no skills. These are the words you chose. What a close-minded, arrogant, pointless thing to open a show with. It let me know who you were and I will never, EVER be back. On the off chance that anyone asks me about this tiny little place, I will tell them about this experience. Disgusted.
